Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

We need to just keep going like this for as long as possible and not lose any more wickets

Would love to get to 200 with these 2 still batting :)

    Ireland 103-3 from 20 overs.

quick question here, cause i'm not sure of the rules. Do ireland have to get 328 in 8 or less of wickets, or is it ok if they do it in more? 328 for 9 wickets for example

Collingwood and Swann take the pace off and 103/2 -> 106/4

Anyone following the game on yahoo cricket? Updates are so biased to England its almost funny.

Swann gets another, reviewed but looked bang on the money.

World class spell from Swanny here.

Nelson strikes for the second time in the match!

Aw cr*p. They still have 27 overs to play - what's the hurry!? I really hope they set themselves the target to not to let England bowl them out clean.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 12,813 Mod ✭✭✭✭riffmongous

I'm going on text updates here so I didn't get to see the wickets so how many of them were due to poor shots rather than good bowling? All bar Wilson?

Plenty of praise for Kevin O'Briens shots.

looks like Kevin has decided to take us to respectability all on his own :D

    36 from last 3 overs

  • Registered Users Posts: 223 ✭✭Fox1978

Yep, enjoying Mr O'Brien's performance. Pity we didn't have this going on vs Bangladesh!

Disappointed with Stirling again today. Keeps getting a start and then getting himself out. Think a big score was there for the taking today if he applied himself better.

I reckon he is so used to hammering associate attacks, he can't get out of that mindset againt better oppostion. So instead of being watchful and respectful to the bowling he just goes after everything, which leads to nice breezy 30s but no signifiacnt scores. Today reminded me of the the Australia innings from the summer.

Preety biased on the beeb as well, more about Englands mistakes than Irelands form.

Alright I'm off. Hope we make a respectable score and then crash and burn for the remainder. So who's next? Are we going to get a win this tournament? Hopefully we will beat Netherlands. Not sure who else.

To be fair, the majority of those using the BBC will be more concerned with England's progress than Ireland's, so the emphasis of the commentary will be on them. To be expected of any national broadcaster.

That was a classy over by Yardy. :D

These two lads are playing not just to score but to frustrate and dent English confidence. Good tactics to be honest - they just have to make sure they don't give away their wicket in the process... Good to see those confident cracking shots..!

KOB is playing very nicely, and Cusack is doing well at the other end. If these 2 can stay going for another 6 overs and leave us needing 90 or so from the last 10 overs then we can have a right crack at it.

Great strokes by O'Brien but he's going to be cleaned bowled sooner rather than later.

This stand has been as good as anything in the competition so far.

we are well ahead of that rate. we need to keep it below eight an over

I hope KJ O'Brien gets a ton - he deserves it after what he has done so far.

    BBC bias ;)

    34 overs Commentary Ire 205-5
Ireland need 136 to win from 17 overs and have already made England's final powerplay batting look thoroughly feeble. Cusack does the right thing, again ensuring O'Brien takes most of the strike. Bresnan is bowling, and O'Brien top-edges a pull over the slips for four. You can't begrudge him the odd slice of luck. This is the fastest ODI fifty by an Irish player by the way. Now he slams Bresnan over point for six. Alarm bells continue to ring very loud for England and their supporters now. Marvellous stuff from O'Brien and Ireland.

Was not expecting this. I still don't think there is any point getting excited yet, but at least this is a more than respectable performance.

It is great to still be in with a shout, though.
