    It's been a while since I've posted.

Do you have micro-inverters/optimizers on your system? I will have full sun from 10:30am till 5pm approx. Just trying to determine if optimizers are worth the additional fee in my case to try max morning potential. Can't see them improving output significantly enough in the morning to return a reasonable payback period?

If you plan a single all south facing setup, split the panels into two groups on two separate strings.

But are you talking about shadow in the summer months or at present ? My 2.7kWp generated 200w in perfect sunshine this morning until 20:15 when it then jumped to 500w and was at 700w less than 20 mins later.

So if you are talking about this time of year, forget about it, it would be completely pointless. Of course, by April or May, I could be generating 1kW by 09:00

Car full, hot water full, battery full already :(

You need a car with a bigger battery!

It's 64kWh, but lockdown means it's not drained very quickly.

8.4kWh today, and that's with the 11 west facing panels still mostly covered with snow!

As a matter of interest, what would be you kW output at maybe noon a dull cloudy day - a day when you cannot see the clouds or even be able to tell where the sun actually is ? Does it cover whatever base load you have ?

Today was a good example, yield was 3.75kWh. Awful weather, completely grey raining overcast plus sea mist. Attached images of the weather and my PV production versus load. Mostly covering baseload, which knocks out a good chunk of day rate import.

What I meant was at any given moment - so from your graph, I see it was about 1200W to 1400W

Starting to see a stretch in the evenings,

    9.1kwh, from 7.2kwp NE/SW Split. Low angle

    9kWh here too.

Weather in Dublin has been atrocious. I just looked at last year's data and got 6-8kWh every day in the first week of Feb. This year have barely got more than 3kWh. Today was 2.3.

Cleared up here too, but by the looks of it, my good half are covered in snow!

I had all my panels covered in snow Monday morning, was surprised to see actual generation through the snow

Only myself to blame. 3 cracking days in a row and I kept forgetting to turn down/off my overnight battery charging.

As a result, 3 days production:
    9
    8.6
    12.3 (so far)

    And export:
    1.6
    0.6
    3.7!

4.1kWp SW facing with heavy tree shading
3.3kWp NE facing, not getting direct sunlight yet

7.15kW from front string, 1.65kW from back string
Total of 8.8kW, still generating around 200w but lets call it a day

4.9kW diverted to hot water, 0.2kW to grid, remainder consumed by house

First day since install in November to break the 7 and 8kW threshold

Yesterday was the first day in double digits, 11.5,

SW generated 6.1 and NE generated 4.4
My panels are very low angle. As the Sun gets higher in the sky mine should start to generate more

Today its currently snowing, but winds are high, doesnt look like anything is sticking to the panels! (also on a high roof!).

Have a couple of big loads that can only be run during the day, so used them to prevent any export (Roll barley when the sun shines i suppose!)

Feb has been a disaster so far for me. 15.2kwh generated in total from 2.56kw system South facing - in South Kilkenny.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,956 ✭✭✭mp3guy

Same, been woeful the past week or so.

I just checked my total thus far for the month compared to last year and I'm about even. So I'm expecting a good second half

Been an OK start to February so far here in the North West with 29kWh from a 2.48kw system. However that all looks like it will change this week as we are back to the grey skies.

your doing better than me :)

my 1.5/0.9 east west split in Cork

have done a grand total of 13Kwh this month.
    0.4 today.

    I got 35kwh in Jan

From what I can see my east does not get the morning sun as its too low for two long
