Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

My dad definitely has some sort of undiagnosed OCD. I'm struggling with agoraphobia, anxiety and depression at the moment and he is driving me demented. I was trying to leave the house today and he was yelling at my mum that we needed to go before half two or the schools would be out and we'd get caught in the traffic. I could hear all this while I was getting ready. He then runs around the place like a chicken on speed, saying stupid things to me like "so when are you going to paint the shed?". I'm staying with them for a while and he keeps going into my bedroom and putting up the blind and if I sit in the living room with the blind down he asks me why I'm sitting in darkness. The man knows I'm agoraphobic but he has a compulsion to put up the blind even though he's not even in the room. He has to turn off all the lights in the house except for the room that he's in and he goes mad if you leave one on. My anxiety was so bad between him and leaving the house that I had to take a diazepam before I went out. No wonder I'm like this growing up with that neurotic man.

Sounds like every dad really, bet he is asking you stuff about how to use the remote control now that you are there :)

I'm not looking forward to this weekend, so much to do, and not enough time.

Had such an intense, frankly terrifying dream last night that I could feel my heart beating out of my chest. Genuinely thought I was going to die if I didn't wake up. Groggy this morning now.

Some savages stole the Diesel generator from our local rural football club, it powered the lights there and now that it's gone the kids can't go to training since there's no light.
I don't understand how people can be so disgusting.

I can't remember if I've said it before, but those "invisible" socks made out of tights material that some women insist on wearing despite the fact that they are glaringly visible with 90% of footwear. I hate them!

Medical professionals who don't pass along client records to their new provider.

    * Especially annoying when client has left the practice due to relocation or them closing!
** That kind of crap could cause people to die!

    Two things:

    1) I did a bit of reorganistion last week and my PC is now on the right side of my desk instead of the left. A week later, and I'm still reaching to the left to switch it on and plug in USBs. Goddamn three years of muscle memory

    2) I recently went to a clinic to get some treatment done and when the doctor told me the price and said it's expensive because the equipment cost her tens of thousands of euro. Yeah, I don't care how much the equipment cost her. It is a rubbish way of justifying the high price to a customer.

And on another PC related note - I'm copying files from usb stick to a larger one and it takes an age..

Myself and the OH are thinking of getting a place together in January. Pretty sure I could afford it, but things that rely on other things keep getting in the way.

Working in a preschool which closes at 1.30. Adults who don’t show up, on a regular basis until at least 1.45 because ‘they are busy and have things to do.’ Good job I’m just passing time there, off the clock with nothing better to do with my own time.

Start charging late fees.or keep ringing the emergency contact number. They will get pissed off and give out to the other person for you

One of my friends runs a créche, the stories of parents doing things like that never ceases to amaze me.

What with Christmas Eve being on a Monday this year, she's opening for a limited amount of hours to accommodate working parents.
She sent letters home last week to get an idea of how many parents would be sending their kids in, so she could start sorting staff levels & ratios.

She was stunned to find almost every parent would be sending their kids in.
After speaking to most of them during drop offs/pick ups, the vast majority of them aren't even working that day.

The excuses for sending their child in varied from wanting to clean the house in peace, to wanting a free morning to meet their friends for coffee, to wanting to allow some time for last minute present shopping.

A few even complained that the créche would be closing at 2pm, asking would she not consider staying open an hour or two later.

Of all days to want your kids out of the way, it shouldn't be Christmas Eve.
    I just don't get it.

Many of her colleagues have families and their own children who they would like to spend Christmas Eve with, but now most of them will have to work to accommodate Sandra so she can hoover in peace without her little precious annoying her.
    Absolutely ridiculous imo.

How much are the fees ?

No idea, from what she said they aren't charged for Christmas Eve as part of their regular fees, so parents who keep their kids at home won't be charged or penalised.
She did this in an effort to encourage as many people as possible to keep their children at home (thus needing fewer staff) but it didn't work.

When the label on a food product tells you the quantity in grams but the nutritional info on the back is in ml. Why!

Agree with this. There is so much to do on christmas eve with getting presents sorted, food, collect the elderlies etc. So been able to drop the kids at creche, that you paid for, is a big help.
Christmas is long enough for the kids too, they will be at home from christmas eve until in to the new year as the creche is closed. No fees discount in december.

Unfortunately I ‘work’ there, I don’t own the place. So I can’t implement any new charges but I will start being more vocal to the offenders!

Half watching a TV show that drifts into Spanish from time to time. I keep forgetting to read the subtitles.

Even worse... Americans who say "I wish I would of...." when they mean "I wish that I had done...." e.g. "I wish I would of done it sooner" instead of "I wish that I had done it sooner." Grammar being dragged through the hedges backwards these days. The world needs a Minister for Grammar.

The water from the taps stink like cow sh1te. Seriously it's not funny, it has a really nasty stench and the whole street at least has the same problem.
I rang Irish water but god knows if I'll ever hear back from that.
Meanwhile I'll be paranoid for weeks that I'll die from e.coli.

I knew you were talking about that show!

Yesterday, I finished up work, packed up my bag, put on my jacket, walked all the way out to my bike and I realised I had forgotten my keys so I had to walk all the way back in. I'm still TA over it!

I have an interview today for a job I don't want but in order to keep my current job (if I don't get this other job), I have to go through the motions of this interview. TA by everything about this situation.
