    but if the child shows up they pay the same amount as if he doesn't show up. So they are not 'out of pocket'.

    Yeah you're right.

    I suppose if the child had let them know that they wouldn't be there then they wouldn't have had to pay for him.

    Found this on the BBC Facebook Post:

    Plymouth Ski and Snowboard Centre: We would like all our customers to know that this invoice has nothing to do with Plymouth Ski and Snowboard Centre. No invoices are ever sent out from the centre to private individuals. This is a disagreement between the two parents involved and the fact that the centre has been named on the invoice is fraudulent.

    When booking a party there is a small deposit to pay on booking, confirmation of numbers and final balance are due 48hrs before the party. On the extremely rare occasion that people don't attend parents are generally offered other activities in compensation.

    If there are any questions regarding existing or future bookings then please contact the centre reception on 01752 600 220

    Assuming the pic on the BBC article is the actual invoice, it's invoice #1432.
    Wonder what the previous 1431 were for?

    "Failure to turn up for a pint after work as previously agreed: £12.48"
    "Forgetting to send us a Christmas card, after we sent you one: £3.76"
    "Not waving back at me across the street, causing psychological trauma due to embarrassment: £13,678.21"

    I'm more worried that some posters are giving serious, considered answers instead of rolling around on the floor, pi55ing themselves laughing, pointing, calling names and attempting to hold in their splitting sides, at any parent daft enough to invoice a kid for a no show. Mad stuff.

    This all childish nonsense. Sending an invoice to parents because their kid didn't show up? What has the world come to? When I was a kid, this type of thing was unknown, and generally if you didn't go to a party, the worst that would happen is you missed out on all the fun. These guys are having a laugh going to the small claims court over £16.

    how was the parent out of pocket, if the kids turned up she would have paid the same amount anyway. maybe they should have sued for not getting the expected pressie?

    It's retarded, but going to the media just makes it worse in the long run for both kids. The story is out now and won't be forgotten.

    If he had shown the invoice to other parents it would have been enough. I feel sorry for both kid tbh. They are the real losers in this.

    They're both at fault, it's rude not to show up without letting someone know you won't be there but expecting people to pay is ridiculous.

    Equally ridiculous is running to the media to tell all, can nothing be kept private now?

    Can't be done for tax evasion unless they don't declare it, which they would have to do at he end of this year.
