larry acts overly jewish to suck up to jewish surgeon in order to get his mate a kidney transplant, which saves larry donating his own kidney

Love the scene on the ski-lift where Larry produces the edible underwear!

Dave Chappelle is up there, I love his stand-up, but Larry David is just a consistently brilliant comedy writer. His blend of relentless mortification, conflict and disaster in Curb Your Enthusiasm is compelling to watch, and strikes an absurdly realistic chord. Seinfeld managed to be insane in plot at times, and at others, completely coherent. His grasp of self-referential jokes, all the almost unbearably embarrassing situations and characters, the loathing of certain aspects of social etiquette, the long story arcs drawn out over seasons are written to perfection. His writing has been hugely influential on comedy writing in general, I would say, particularly in the sitcom scene. He perfected it to the point that it's imitated in almost every sitcom running today.

The man's a genius, as far as I'm concerned.

The TV movie(Clear History) he did recently was very funny. The first scene with him and Liv Schreiber is comedy gold.

I am on a massive Steve Coogan buzz at the moment. He is an absolute genius, and gifted at bringing genuine moments of pathos to all of his work.

In my opinion he is the best.

stand ups, comic actors, ust crazy zany funny folks

in the panthen of legends from laurel and hardy to bob hope, to george burns, to walter matthau and jack lemmon, dave allen to harold lloyd to richard pryor, bill hicks , andy kaufman and beyond

so to those funny people alive

the likes of billy connolly still going, bill cosby, eddie murphy, steven wright, mel brooks, robin williams, seinfeld, george carlin, billy crystal, john stewart, jasper carrott, garry shandling, woody allen, the younger breed, chris rock, bill maher, ellen degeneres, lous ck, eddie izzard, richard lewis, adam sandler, dylan moran, paul merton, joan rivers, jackie mason,

For me its larry david......curb your enthusiasm is a work of genius that ran for umpteen years, preceeded by 2 decades of the ingenious seinfeld and recently by his clear history tv film....mind bogglingly funny yet again
merry festivus larry you wonderful bald self loathing Jew:D

I could never stand Larry David and 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' thought it was the opposite to comedy. Just unfunny to me.

But in fairness it did give rise to the 'Long Shot' documentary on netflix where an innocent man had to try and prove his innocence by using footage from a 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' episode filmed during a baseball game in the LA Dodgers stadium.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Maybe not the No.1 funniest on stage but Artie Lange is hilarious in his overall character ....tragic, wild and intriguing.

Loveable train wreck whos been up and down like a yoyo.
The real life Krusty, stopping off to do a kids gig before being police escorted to rehab kind of deal.

More vices than the population of N.Y, takes swings at cops in LA while coked up after losing tens of thousands in Vegas and spending more on hookers. Still winning, if slightly obese. Sheen doesn't have an inch on him.

    Artie is indeed hilarious.

However, for those who don't know him, Artie recently lost his nose.

Yes, Artie is sans nose. Got your nose .... but like extreme version.

    From coke.

Artie also stabbed himself with a kitchen knife something like 7 times in one of his suicide attempts.

Worth noting that he had a nose during those attempts, so all bets are off.

    Anyway.

    (1)Frankie Boyle.
    (2)Louis CK.
    (3)Doug Stanhope.
    (4)(non standup comic) Anthony Cumia.
    (5)Patrice O'neal (rip).

Theres O+A shows out there that feature Louis CK, Anthony Cumia, and Patrice at the same time. Love them.

Edit; Honorable mention: Ross Noble. Mentalist.

Louie Ck's Horace and Pete is the best drama/writing/acting/storyline/side storylines I've ever seen.

Louie's gone a bit too far though so listening to his good material is kind of like listening to Wagner now.

All comedians generally acknowledge who the king of comedy is .. it's been mentioned as a given on Comedians in Cars quite a few times...

    Gerry Seinfeld.

    Why?

Because he can make you laugh without having to resort to ' baby rape ' jokes trying to be edgy and controversial.

Gay French King is about as extreme as Gerry's ever gotten.
