Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The fact that we as a progressive modern society are now aggressively trying to address those issues is to be applauded I think.

    .

"Aggressively trying" Lol. NOT. If it was not so serious it would be funny. They have not even dug up the septic tank or grounds yet in Tuam yet to find how many poor dead kids were dumped there. Will there be an inquiry or anyone prosecuted? Or in the case in Cork discovered last week?

    Most probably yes.

It's not like the state is trying to cover things up here.

Why has nothing at all happened in the Tuam baby deaths so?

The public inquiry has actively encouraged those who have more information on the issue to come forward (and there are those who know more believe me) and their findings so far have been pretty damning.

Whether or not the inquiry is taking too long to deliver it's final report is another matter.

In the Tuam babies case, it is a long time since a “significant quantity” of human remains were discovered in underground chambers thought to have been used for the treatment of sewage waste water at the Catholic institution in Tuam, Co Galway. The project to exhume and identify the remains is expected to cost between €6m and €13m, but has still not even started. The Bon Secours Sisters have offered “a voluntary contribution” of €2.5m towards this....does anyone think it will ever be handed over or a proper investigation launched? In what other western country would there be such delay in exhuming the remains of hundreds of unknown children who were dumped in a mass grave, and where no attempt has been made to find out exactly who done it, even though they could still be alive?

An international Expert Technical Group (ETG) report said the situation in Tuam was unprecedented and that no comparable case could be identified either nationally or internationally.

What were they going to do with all those armoured cars? :)
Loads of American Militias are worried about the King of England and his army showing up in the morning.

Here some would have considered that kind of thinking to be properly paranoid. And we had enough food to feed all the Prisoners Of War. And the neighbours didn't get atomic bombs until 1952.

Michael D, if this was England, would be the emperor king of the country.

A thought runs through my mind that The Roman Empire never really went away, it just shifted north.

Its ireland, no one involved will be prosecuted. Jail time is only for scape goats and the plebs.

We have three times more politicians in this country per head of population compared to other countries.
And how many ex-presidents are we paying 6 figure pensions to them and their handlers?
As Bob Geldof said, Banana Republic.

    We don't manufacture bananas anymore.

We are no longer the largest exporter of bananas in Europe.

That'd be Sir Bob, ex freeman of Dublin, but currently still (hypocritically) freeman of London.

Possibly, but I'd have more than a few questions to ask Bob Geldof about Bob Geldof.

The Republic is not 70 years old. The State has been describing itself as a Republic for 70 years, which is a different thing.

    It's a Republic.

The fact the 6 counties is not part of the Republic is another matter for another thread.

    What's your point then?

I made a point that the republic is not 70 years old. The state has simply been styling itself as a republic for 70 years. Quite a different thing.

How has it been styling itself as a Republic?

By calling itself the Republic of ireland.

    Yeah, which it is.

I never said it was. I simply said it wasn't 70 years old, which it isn't.

Certainly. 26 counties of the United Kingdom are a republic under occupation by those republican forces, while 6 counties remain unoccupied.

    :):)

These would be Irish counties occupied by native Irish? The UK is merely remnants of the Empire spun for the modern palate.
