Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Marching south with very heavy pulses :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,235 ✭✭✭lucernarian

It's agonisingly close!! Radar puts the rain(snow:D) 4 miles to the north of my house in a curve away from it

Further update: "snow drizzle" has started. Hope it gets heavier. Expect it to hit the northern suburbs within 30 mins!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,780 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

Hi it's snow tho is it?? :D:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,235 ✭✭✭lucernarian

It's just a few tiny flakes drifting in the wind but still...:D. What I wonder is: If those heavy echoes pass over here will they be rain?, i.e. is the heavier precip associated with warm air?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,780 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

Nah heavier = Heavier snow :D

Your on the cold side of the front :D;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,780 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

Hopefully we'll be able to squeeze 2 hours of snow in before school :D

Because then i wont be going :D:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,235 ✭✭✭lucernarian

Do you mean that currently im on the cold side of a warm front about to pass? or the warm side of a cold front about to pass?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,780 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

No the warm front will never pass over you it will
    just slide south ;)

There are literally just a few flakes falling. More like "frozen drizzle". Ground looks completely dry still even though its been "snowing" for 30 mins.

Added: Dublin appears to be... how will I put it... snowy.:)
Radar is quite interesting. Id love to know the current weather for the midlands. I now await met eireann's data.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,780 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

Snow making in-roads into most of Leinster, 10-20mins and Dublin will see it ;)

Heavier echoes advancing from the north :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,780 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

Aye invisible snow it is then :D:p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,235 ✭✭✭lucernarian

Mixed news: I tell ya one thing, it's not hard to see the snow falling now:D

    Update us :D
Still no snow here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,235 ✭✭✭lucernarian

What a lovely dawn:) The grass is a pretty blend of green and white and a picturesque scene of a winter morning with moderate snow.

Weathercheck, its not that suprising that i'd recieve more as im slightly more than 140 m asl and as a rule of thumb, the depth of snow I'd get here is twice that of Drogheda. I guess your asl is roughly the same as drogheda (avg. 20-40 m). Don't worry, you'll see it surely sooner or later this morning.

Added: Visibility is mediocre, 500 m I can see with little difficulty, visibility goes at roughly 4 km. (2.5 miles). Snow falling slightly lighter but still quite present @0719

Radar showing snow but nothing falling from the sky

Since I'm 50miles or so south of W'check, no surprise to report nothing here in east Wicklow. Temp has stayed at 3C all night with dewpoint at -2C to -3C

Grass temp is +1.7C with a min of 0C. So if any snow does fall, it's unlikely to stick at the beginning.

Certainly cloudy overhead with that dark snow look to it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,498 ✭✭✭Mothman

Dublin Airport reporting sleet at 0700. Temp is up to 2C after being 1C at 0600.

Sleet at Casement as well with temp at 1C. dewpoint seems relatively high in those 2 locations

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,780 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

Temperature 1.6c here dew point -1.7c. Looks like the
radars having problems with the precipitation although
theresn alot more to come. Snow about up north ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,780 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

A few flakes in the wind..
definately snow as is dry and doesnt melt very quick ;)

    Rain here in lexlip...

I think it's time you took off the snow tinted glasses!
Looks like I should go to met.ie for my weather, always seem more realistic!

Outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow. Clearer weather spreading from the northeast this afternoon and evening. Very cold. Temperatures just 3 to 8 degrees at best. Heavy sleet and snow showers tonight near coasts in the east and southeast. Mainly dry elsewhere. Sharp frost.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,780 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

Perhaps i'll use your camera CHUMP and show you that it's snowing :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,780 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

    Light snow now :D

A good few hours to go according to the radar :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,780 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

    hours of the stuff :D;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,277 ✭✭✭kenmc

Still nothing here, even though radar shows otherwise. I think the radar overstates intensity when it is snow

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,951 ✭✭✭✭Villain

    Sleet/wet snow falling in maynooth

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,498 ✭✭✭Mothman

W'check, you'd better come up with an alternative excuse for mitching school... :p

There's not going to be much if any accumulation in low level areas.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,780 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

Ah will have to go im afraid :D
Still getting steadily heavier and showing signs of trying to
    stick :D;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,498 ✭✭✭Mothman

Still waiting for 08z NRA road report. At 07z, only one station was reporting sub zero road temp. -0.1C at Baltinglass. only 2 of them was reporting the road as being treated.

    Nothing here either-temp outside 1.9 c

light snow has started to fall here now

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 16,960 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gonzo

drizzly rain/sleet falling here, no chance of anything sticking here in loughlinstown

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,498 ✭✭✭Mothman

    08z NRA reports in.
Baltinglass is only road temp that is subzero. 5 roads are now treated. Cavan has road temp at +0.1C and quotes "Heavy Rain"
IMO This is likely to be sleet or snow.

0800 reports in on met Eireann site. http://www.met.ie/recentweather/

    Light Snow

    Casement

    Sleet
    Kilkenny
    Mullingar
    Clones
    Dublin Airport

    Still dry with me.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,498 ✭✭✭Mothman

    First flakes falling.

    Big Big flakes :D:D

    Temp +2.9C
    Dewpoint -1.9C
