Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A better card on paper than last week's ppv and of course the guaranteed entertainment of the main event. Look at the stats! Gaethje's absorbed strikes per minute is particularly glaring.

feels like it's only gonna be a matter of time before cerrone gets knocked out imo anyway
I see no way how he gets a finish here, he'll have nothing left by the time justin tires

very surprised texeira is an underdog v krylov when you consider who both have fought, both of these have plenty of sub wins so it'll be interesting to
see how each approach this...I'll go with a sub win for tex

The flamboyant periera will bring his usual tricks into the octagon, a smaller johnny walker if ever there was one, this probably won't last long( watch the weigh ins;)

I think carlos jnr will smother hall for three rounds, 8/10 wins by sub yet uriah has never been subbed

I think this will be great card!

Tuning in for this, not too late and have an accumulator on the winner for each of the fights.

Two up so far and the fights have been excellent!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,613 ✭✭✭Mehaffey1

Going for Gaethje in the finale although feeling decidedly uneasy betting against Cowboy.

Also, have Texeira to win and Carlos Jnr to win, need to check who else I went for after my 50 50 eenie meenie miny moing

    Other winners =
    Sanchez
    Johns
    Katona
    Skelly
    Tybura
    Cirkunov

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,923 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

Skelly about as one dimensional as they come even moreso than the goat

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,613 ✭✭✭Mehaffey1

    Good judging there touch wood.

Skelly on his feet with Griffin hitting him had me concerned there, difference in skill level was ridiculous and could picture him getting KO'd so easily.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,923 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

nice to see cirkunov get a win, thought for a second he was gonna get knocked out again there

I don't think the top five will be losing any sleep though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,593 ✭✭✭theteal

I was only half watching but was the judging fairly harsh on Katona? While all close rounds I thought he defo won the 3rd. He fairly controlled the 2nd too although he didn't really hold on to any of the take downs....

I thought he won the third too and when I heard 30-27 I thought they
    were giving it to katona
he didn't do a whole lot though when he got azure down
I'll be honest I was only half watching that one also :o

Before I send the missus to bed and eh switch over on my laptop, what stage of the card is it? Two more prelims? Cheers.

Hall fight just about to start

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,702 ✭✭✭MileHighGuy

Good fight between Hall and Carlos, good mix of styles. Have to think Hall won the first two rounds though and Shoeface needs a stop.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,702 ✭✭✭MileHighGuy

Didn't think Carlos Jr did enough with any of the takedowns he got....Hall 29-28

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,280 ✭✭✭✭mdwexford

    Christ that was woeful.

Glad he didn’t get to cuddle Hall to a decision.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,923 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

delighted for hall, figured it might be a split and maybe just about hall

looked pretty good there while it was standing, very sharp and a little
    more urgency than normal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,762 ✭✭✭bmcc10

    This is just bizarre

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,923 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

Connelly for me maybe another split even

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,280 ✭✭✭✭mdwexford

    Well that was embarrassing.

Showboat like that you better get a first round finish.

    Well deserved win.

That was gas. All that faffing around and he loses lol.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,923 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

man I am so happy for connelly and on a weeks notice, thought uriah winning would be a highlight but this is so much better
delighted for him in front of his home crowd, what dreams are made of.

As for pereira...well...he was embarrassing and it might be worth saving the ol dancing till after a win
I'm sure a few of us here like myself were just hoping he'd get past the first

jaysus the backflip in the first...lol such daftness

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,923 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

there could be some simliarities here...if duffee can't get it done in the
    first that is

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,923 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

    Duffee doesn't want this imo

Going nowhere, big guy, big power and looks great
    If things go his way

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,149 ✭✭✭mangobob

Thats a weird one. We have seen far more egregious eye pokes than that and the fight continues.

    Whelp.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,649 ✭✭✭Whelo79

Can't help but think Duffee took the easy way out there. Plenty have fought on after much worse eye pokes than that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,590 ✭✭✭Hoboo

Eye was bloodshot to ****. Who knows, only takes a tiny bit of a nail. Pity.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,923 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

Mad to think walker is only ranked 11

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,435 ✭✭✭Still Ill

Why didn't he take the full five though? Weird.

that was deep and I guess thats why tex has never been subbed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,923 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

    Great fight, so evenly matched

Can't call it Tex split my guess

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,923 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

Who will gaethje get next after this impressive performance?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,934 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

    Well that was quick.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,649 ✭✭✭Whelo79

He made that look very very easy.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,149 ✭✭✭mangobob

That was never in doubt. Cowboy is a fun fighter but he is a gatekeeper. Nothing more. JG and Tony are the only fighters I see who could possibly cause Khabib some kind of problem.

I think McGregor is his next fight if Conor comes back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,649 ✭✭✭Whelo79

McGregor is going to be fuming that he got blanked in another post fight interview. He's becoming more and more irrelevant with each passing week.

You are probably right and I'd love to see him ko mcgregor but this is conor's title eliminator fight right now. This imo has to be the next fight for conor.

    Nail on head there :pac:

dustin made the mistake of being respectful to mcgregor :o

Do you know Conor, is that how he reacts if he is not mentioned?

Out of Conor, Tony, and Khabib, i think Conor is the worst match up for him. Khabib is probably the best for him, if his defensive wrestling holds up.

Agreed. I don't know where this 'fan favorite' schtick comes from (social media stats?). He's not particularly clever on the mic and doesn't really have all that an attractive fighting style compared to Ferguson or Wonderboy (for instance).

I guess he wears a hat and drinks cold beer.

  • Registered Users Posts: 813 ✭✭✭Macdarack

cowboy, he needs to retire, he's just cannon fodder, I feel sorry for his wife and kids, who'll probably be found shot dead by cowboy in 9 years. Probably Mc Gregors next fight cos cowboy is poor as fvck.

What are you on about? He's lost his last two fights to two people that are being discussed for a title shot

Cowboy is always someone's tune up to a big fight. He's a glorified mid carder.

I agree, he should pack it in. Last I heard he had one or two sound business investments so for the sake of his health, hang 'em up.

8 of his last 10 fights were fight night events, and he's lost 6 of those 10, he's just a bait bag I think. I'd love to see what money he's on, I'd say he'd fight for his hotel room. Harsh?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,348 ✭✭✭✭ricero

Gaethje is an animal. McGregor doesn't want to go anywhere near him as he knows he will end the hype once and for all.

Gaethje should wait it out and fight the winner of khabib vs Tony.

Too much money on the table against McGregor for him to do that.

    Agreed

Btw - it’s been noted here in the past, but Cowboy is one of the biggest suckers in history.

He’s obv on ‘good’ money now.. but for a guy that has fought so many times for the company and done them a million favours at short notice, in reality his salary is embarrassing.
