Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Aldi bean burgers are great.

I worked in Tesco before, most of the meat products are made from rats or a combination of old shoes and tarmac

Lot of posters saying ‘make your own’ with no reference to the type of minced beef to use. Cheap mince is crap. Whereas freshly minced rib steak is great. And how you cook it has a huge influence too. A charcoal grill will impart a lot of flavour.

They should also remember to have no less than 20% fat in the mince. This is from the BBC.

You want your burger to remain juicy so avoid going too lean. Choose a standard minced meat (usually around 20 % fat) or if you are set on leaner cuisine then 10 % fat is ok, don’t go for less. Beef is the typical meat used in burgers but you could use lamb or pork, or a mixture of beef and pork.

With a great non-alcoholic beer and some excellent gluten-free buns, I am sure those would hands down constitute the most pleasure-free meal one can cook ;-)

    They only use organic rats.

Which part? The rat? Old shoes? Or the tarmac?

You know the meat from Tesco's is sh1te when even the cat and dog refuse to touch it!

We’d a cat that would basically refuse to eat any thing other than roast chicken, fresh fish, a bit of steak etc and would make the “burying poo” gesture if you tried to pawn him off with cheaper meats and literally looked like he was going to throw up if you gave him cat food and would head off hunting!

If the dog won’t eat it though, you’re in trouble! They’re usually anything but fussy.

The original and still the best:

Not even joking I still fecking love these. You need a barbecue to make a better burger and that only happens a few times a year.

Diggers are not bad, big als were about the best but can't get them anymore.
Tesco finest burgers started off nice but then the usual thing happened. They start taking the quality ingredients out and replacing with sh*t. The burgers were full of meat now they are full of fat.

I don't get the love for Angus beef, it has a horrible after taste. I'll stick to the normal Irish beef for me burgers. And say what you want about Burger King, but by jesus their latest concoction, which is basically an XL double quarter pounder with cheese (or the triple version) with MOAR LIQUID CHEESE!!! Heart attack in a bun, but it's been designed to hit all of the right spots for me anyway. Divine!

And you are lucky if you get any actual rat.

I can't be the only one who thinks this.

It's much nicer to just buy the mince and make your own.

The simply better steak burgers from dunnes are the best burgers i've tasted in the last few years.

Chicken nuggets and the beloved chicken "fillet" (lol) are mechanically recovered odds and sods, bulked out with other additives, mixed into a bright pink slurry if you want to call it that and then formed into shapes for cooking and consumption.

    Bon appetite.

I think most people are somewhat aware of this but don't give a f0ck because they taste nice.

I also worked in Tesco,I'm not sure how that gives you a greater insight into the origins or quality of the meat products.

Butcher Burgers for me all day long I agree with the comments on Lidl and the likes they smell like sh1te. I purchased burgers in Musgrave C&C lately which were lovely but absolutely full of grease and only really suitable for BBQ.

My local Butcher is just as cheap for steaks etc and you are always guaranteed top quality meat.

Mechanically recovered meat or ground up meat?

Where does the butcher get his meat from? Most are meat unpacker/displayers these days. Tesco or artisan butcher, all coming from Kepak

Dear God, what a bunch of bull****ting bozos!

A thread on burger taste/quality evolves into homemade v store-bought comparison.

    Homemade wins.

    Not ONE fing recipe.

And one fing idiot who thinks Angus beef has a horrible aftertaste!

    The future is fing orange.

Pretty much given up on beef burgers since we started eating the turkey, mozzarella & spinich burger that Seezers & Sears do. Definitely my favourite on the bbq.

The Linda McCartney’s mozzarella quarter pounders are actually quite nice.
