Had the same problem. Key wasn't too bad, worked most the time for two years. Keys then only worked half the time after batteries were changed during service so was worse.

That's the app, you can download it now and create an account if you want

You'll need the VIN to add a car and you need to be in the car because it'll generate a QR code or something to login

Regarding the app, the only real thing I can do with it is see my current battery percentage and if charging how much longer is left and I can also preheat the car. Is there anything else I should be able to do ? It’s not a very user friendly app

Its a common one across the range. I have my MK8 GTI going in this week to have both puddle lights replaced.

My ID4 has 40k kms and bought it new in July 2022. Absolutely zero issues but should it have been back at VW for a checkup or service by now? Will VW contact me when they want to see it?

Service interval is every two years, unlimited mileage

Under the vehicle menu there's a Service option which tells you when the next inspection is due

At the moment I'd say a 211 1st 77kwh fair price is around €27k.

The market is non functional though as you have people looking for smaller battery ID3s for similar money. We might have another year of this before price hierarchy is restored.

We’ve been in the market for a second hand id4 and I can say for absolute certainty that the only cars selling are the cheapest ones on the market.

we have ads saved for months in some cases and a cursory phone call to see if there’s any movement on the price is usually met with a 2021-esque conversation about how it’s an EV and the price is the price. One garage took our details in Jan and called back in Feb with a tiny price movement (€500 on a €38k car).

The market had a long way to go to reset itself. Buying anything that’s not priced to sell is just catching a falling knife in this current market

26k the cheapest I can see for sale today for a 3 year old. Take specs and models etc out of the equation and you're talking very close to 2/3 the price of a brand new one.

There's a handful of them there but quickly you're pushing up towards 30k if you don't like the exterior colour, mileage, wrong part of the country etc of the cheapest few which is getting close to 3/4 new price out of manufacturers warranty.

Probably slightly too high for what used buyers will deal at but still more realistic than what I see out there from the other big players, Tesla, Kia, Hyundai

Is that for a 52kWh? I do reckon battery size will be a factor in the resale price, the 77kWh is arguably more versatile

But yeah, there seems to be a lot of dreamers out there with the asking prices

The typical selling point for buying a used ICE car from a dealership was they'd service the car and (supposedly) fix any issues

Not sure that same selling point exists with EVs, the battery is under warranty and the rest of the car doesn't need more than a visual inspection

I reckon a lot of the dealerships are hanging onto that idea, and they probably also got burned somewhat on the PCP offers. They probably had to give customers a good trade in value to get them into a new car but then they're stuck with a second hand car they can't make their money back on

In any case, I'll be keeping my car for a while. The newer ID.4 looks like a good improvement but I just can't justify the expense to switch

I meant the used one, I think there's still value in keeping the battery size the same because bigger battery seems to hold its value better

If the used one is a 52kWh then I think the cheapest new 52kWh is just under €40k

So almost exactly 35% depreciation in 3 years, which seems pretty average for any car

where is junction 14 and do you stop on the outward or return leg?

Buying in December, doing motorway driving, heating on, getting 300kms, I wouldn't waste your money on a diagnostic.
