Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    How did everyone get on?

I placed in top 10 for both my preferences so delighted with that!

    Same.

Top 5 for one of my preferences, inside top 10 for the other. Delighted :D

Did anyone have trouble with their results. I applied for 2 counties but only got results back for 1?

  • Registered Users Posts: 61 ✭✭wicklow girl

Both mine were on the same email

Both mine were on the same email

Oh no only one on mine and I definitely selected two

It would appear a few people had this problem.
I wonder will they interview everyone who got through or just top 50 for eg

interviewing everyone will be a waste of time. Panel is only active for 2 years and there are only a few positions in each Division.

I think interview top 10 in each Division/County maybe. And maybe top 50 for Dublin. If they need more positions after that then can interview the next 10 etc.

Top 10 could result in no one being placed IMO. Dont forget half of the top ten might have passed the test but will not pass the interview.

Yea I suppose you could be right. Id love to no how many positions there actually are. Id imagine GISC, HR HQ will have a lot of vacancies. They have taken on a lot of EO's from the Open panel lately.

Wonder how many will be called for the interview and when exactly will they be on? Will it be public jobs personnel interviewing or someone from AGS? The waiting is a pain!

  • Registered Users Posts: 61 ✭✭wicklow girl

Wonder what kind of numbers there are, was there a cut off per county, I got 9 & 37 for my preference choices, anyone above these?

The highest I have heard in Cork is 31 but there are possibly higher. Would be very interested to know how many will be interviewed.

I would imagine there will be an Inspector, Garda Staff HEO and PAS person....

Do you think the interviews will all be in Dublin?

I would think if Pas running it all interviews will be I. Dublin, I did an interview last year with Pas and missed it by 2 points, had two interviewer's and one person from pas taking note's.

Interviews between 15th March and 5th April in Dublin, three different venues and book your own date.

Venues are PAS office in Chapter House, Store Street Garda Station or Kevin Street GS.

Not sure how many called for each region though, I was top 5 for Sligo if that helps anyone.

Was everyone who reached qualifying standard invited to interview?

As far as I know where I am, Yes.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8 Pixveyclare

Yes anyone that I know who passed the aptitude tests have been called for an interview. They must be interviewing a lot of people if over three weeks and in three different locations.

  • Registered Users Posts: 61 ✭✭wicklow girl

    Not a word

I have heard from one person that the interview is fine. Her board was really nice, asked about the usual 6 competencies said it was same as normal EO interview.

I hate interviews, I'm up next week and dreading it

Any idea how long the interviews are please?

Could anyone who has done their interview tell me if they were questioned about PEMS and PALF? TIA

  • Registered Users Posts: 26 Aisling09

Does anyone know if the failure rate for EO competitions is high. The board were very nice and stuck to the competencies but my nerves got the better of me.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8 Pixveyclare

My interview took about 35-40 minutes. Board were very nice. Was not asked about PAF or PEMS but I'm sure each board differ. Good luck to all left to do the interview.

  • Registered Users Posts: 61 ✭✭wicklow girl

My board also very nice. Again 40 minutes approx. No direct PEMS or PAF questions stuck to competencies. Very general. Best of luck everyone left.

An Garda Siochana HR have already started to fill the PEMS officer roles from the Open Executive Officer competition. Union have no interest and as usual give Zero support on this. By the time PAS finish these interviews and arrange the new OOM there will possibly be no PEMs or PALF positions to fill. The Fairest and Decent thing would have been for them to Fill current vacancies and hold these New roles for this competition as that is probably the only reason that most went for it as were interested in PEMs or PALF.

Yep, an EO started for PAF where I am last Monday, from the Open Panel obviously. I queried the situation with Navan a while ago and their reply was that it wasn’t a specialist competition.

They're dropping new entrants into PAF? Nice to know that experience counts for nothing. That is NOT a role for new entrants - you need way too much knowledge and experience of AGS to manage PAF properly.

Same old sh1t different competition, it's quite bad when I'm not surprised tbh.

So disappointing, should have known when so many are talking about ags on the Dublin 2018 thread

Any word of when the results of interview are? We have new CO being trained on PAF as of today ...

    New as in new entrant?

Yes, in from PAS. It's Very disheartening. Makes you wonder what the point in the process of tests, more tests and interviews... 😠

I keep hearing of them shoving new people into that role and I am face-palming here. It's so not a role for newbies and definitely not on a starting CO's salary! You're right though, it's really depressing. Can only hope they go a little quicker than usual with the results. Not hopeful though as they've been so slow with the whole competition.

I think we need to make a fuss with the union once these results are out. We have a new EO from the Open panel, a new CO and two existing CO’s doing PAF in our division.

On another note I was disappointed that the test results are forgotten now, they are not taken into account just the interview.

Does anyone have any thought on when the results will be out?

When did that info come out that it was just the interview and not test results?
I was hoping they would be out this week or next but that might be expecting too much

Alas, I don't know what the union is like in your area, but they are beyond useless in mine.

And yes the test results not being worth anything was quite depressing. They called everyone who passed. I'd say we'd be lucky to hear by Easter. If PAS holds to the usual routine, they'll drop the results 4pm on a Friday and skedaddle out of the office before the phones start ringing!

Ah here that's terrible the results don't count. Also they are taking just one in four EO posts from this panel... Talk about making it impossible, no wonder there is such a divide. I just hope I get it on the interdepartmental at this stage... This organization is mind boggling.

All this effort and they're only taking 1 in 4?!!!!

That's what our union rep said, apparently they at them to increase this, ratio made up as the other one from interdepartmental and two from open comp.

Ah no. They're taking from the other interdepartmental one too? Then what is the point of having our own one? I betcha this doesn't happen in Revenue's internal competitions.

Yeah I bet it doesn't. It's unreal when you think of it, we done the tests twice and then put tru the interview. But panel number won't mean anything. If that's right it's a disgrace.

    Has it been confirmed?

Yes HR Navan confirmed new OOM based on interview only, I’m not happy about it either.

That would be good. Hate the waiting around part.
