Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've been absolutely loving Beat Saber. Helping to shed a few pounds too, in fairness to it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,281 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

Aye, Beat Saber is perfect for the PSVR and really shows off how much fun VR can be. PSVR suffers from a lack of thumbsticks on the Move controllers, and as such games with player controlled locomotion suffer imo. It's put me off quite a few PSVR games, and when I played the same games on a loan of a Quest 2, they were much better due to the thumbsticks on the Quest controllers.

If you're liking that, try BoxVR too. Fitness wrapped in a Beat Saber type boxing game. Or Pistol Whip is another good PSVR game.

It is what makes the AIM controller so good, thumbsticks for moving and turning :D
I must say I did adapt to living without them, I hate the fact they never really implemented even using the Move Navigation controller in more games.

    Ultrawings is good fun!
It definitely scratches that Pilotwings itch for me

Aye, Beat Saber is perfect for the PSVR

Having played Beat Saber on Rift, Quest and PSVR I can honestly say Beat Saber "feels right" in PSVR over the others simply due to the shape and weight of the controller.

Tracking is a potential issue though I've never had this problem with Beat Saber.

Same with Sprint Vector... PSVR version was the best due to feeling like holding a running baton.

Got back into VR now after purchasing Alvo yesterday..

Loving it, so much faster than Firewall and when you die you spawn back which is good rather than spectating...

I want to get into ALVO but I cant help but be worried it will be dead in a couple of months.
(And the its the price that is stopping me!)
The above reason was what I loved about Honor and Duty D:Day fast paced round after round.
Alvo looks like a lot of fun.

Yeah I think the initial price might be much but it's on sale for like 27euro...

I reckon I'll get my monies worth out of it

Smyths have Move Controllers in stock for anyone looking. Just grabbed a set

Threw on the walking dead vr game saints and sinners,

Probably the most impressive one I played so far, only lasted forty minutes or so before I decided to turn it off, struggling trying to get those vr legs plus the current pair of glasses I have I felt like they were being squished against my head,

I put the stoppers on the headset to stop the lenses getting scratched by my glasses.

Just setting up new TV and running realised the PSVR box likely doesn't do hdmi 2.1 pass through so wondering how others are handling it, if worried about using 2.1?

Unplug and switch cables, pain in the ass but don't see other options.

For the free adapter in the post for PS5 yesterday so I can switch the library to there.

Hitting a bit of a wall with Beat Saber and the missions where you have to make mistakes on purpose in certiain ways. Really do not enjoy those.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,347 ✭✭✭✭Grayditch

I'm playing AstroBot on PS5 here (not the amazing VR one) but you get to collect "artifacts", which are in the form of old Playstation tech like PSP camera and the original Dual Shock 1 etc.

Anyway I just found the Move controller and realised it is "old tech" that is somehow on it's 3rd gen. Bought mine in 2010 for Sports Champions on PS3 and still use it to this day on Psrv on PS5. Pretty incredible if you think about it.

Yeah that's what I decided to do.
Still haven't tried the PSVR on PS5 yet so must try it out.

It's A BIG step over the OG PS4 I'm blown away by how much better it looks even ones that's haven't being upgraded.

I'd agree with this. And Blood n Truth, which did get ps5 upgrade, is like a new game, so smooth plays great

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,539 ✭✭✭RocketRaccoon

I'm the same, I have the ps5 since January and haven't hooked up the vr yet. I keep promising myself that I'll play blood and truth(bought on release day, still sealed) and I don't know what keeps putting me off

I'll prob make the jump to PS5 from my OG when the PSVR2 comes out

Think London Heist was my first WOW vr moment as I leaned out of the van to see the motorbikes coming at me!

Finally played it upgraded last night its unreal!
Looking forward to playing through it again, the challenges with the AIM are a bit of craic so will give them ago.

@Mr Cheez, yeah I was the same, but decided when I got a surprise bonus to pull the trigger on the PS5.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,862 ✭✭✭✭mrcheez

Are they redesigning the PS5 already?!?

New chip afaik... wonder how it will benefit VR

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,281 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

22 months between the PS4 and PS4 Slim, so that'd be about right for a PS5 slim, and the Pro a couple of years after that.

Isn't this just a standard evolution pushed by the chip shortage? Weren't there like 4 or 5 different model PS4s even before the Slim? How many different Xbox 360s were there back in the day.

I don't think we're going to get a pro version of the PS5, but that's just my prediction. I think it made some sense last gen because of 4K televisions etc but with this gen I'm not so sure.

I remember playing that at the demo in Gamestop when the PSVR was first released and that car-chase alone sold me on it.

The sales rep also stuck me in Eve: Valkyrie and was almost in a froth insisting I look down at my virtual breasts!

Now that I look back, I think how unhygienic the whole thing was plastering the headset to your face after 50 or so spotty teenagers used it

Solaris has finally been released ...

12.50 with PS Plus.. Not sure if it's better than Alvo but is worth a shot at that price for sure..

Also turn on smooth turn from menu before playing as there's no settings to do this in game

So I setup my psvr on my ps5 and started playing No Man's Sky.

The problem I'm having is that the system/game seems to think I'm using the move controllers, when I don't have any. So when I attempt to mine materials, the guns just remains static, moving the analog sticks and the gyro does nothing.

Is there some settings I messed up here?

Just wondering are you using a ps5 controller? I think dualshock 4 is all you can use for ps5 vr maybe I am wrong...

I tried Moss with ps5 controller and took me ages to realise I needed ps4 controller to play

Yeah, they came out and said you need the DS4 to play VR on the 5, the DualSense doesn't have the light bar sensor at the front so won't work.

what are the must have acessories, ie do the move controllers (sticks ) come with it?

what sort of money are these going for. can see a bundle on argos for €350. not sure if thats good .

    thanks

Really the most essential components are the Move controllers

The €350 mega pack looks like a great deal.. lots of excellent games included, but some like Blood and Truth require the Move controllers to get the most out of them

I can never find these in stock anywhere.

True.. forgot about that aspect :(

Another possibility that akelly02 might consider is getting an Oculus Quest 2 all in one VR headset, unless the PSVR is a must-buy.

It comes with all the controllers necessary and is wireless plus only €349 incl free delivery

    https://www.oculus.com/quest-2/

Main downside is that the Quest 2 games don't have deep discounts like on PS4, so overall it's a bit more pricey to build up a library

i got mine when the PSVR launched, yet to find one good title on it.

What are the flagship titles? or am i missing something..

Depends what you want to do?

    Skyrim is amazing, Wipeout too.

    Walking Dead is a must-play.

..oh yeah, and Resident Evil 7, plus Astro Bot and Blood and Truth... sh1tloads of good content on there

You Are Being Followed is free on PS Store.

Finally set the PSVR up on the PS5 and played Iron Man VR.
I got better at it as it went on.
Final chapter bugged out on me a couple times with the next stage of attacks not starting. Reloaded the checkpoint, didn't happened again then reloaded again and third time lucky.
While it's set up now, I might try London Heist before playing Blood & Truth later

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,284 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Moss is great. Must try and get back to it tonight. But being able to look around the level works well. If can't see a scroll, can just look behind rocks and all.

I'll admit since getting back into playing on the PS5, I've gotten into the VR a lot more than before. So got a couple more games, BoxVR and Statik in the recent sale.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 896 ✭✭✭DarkJager21

Statik is great, makes you feel really clever when you figure out what you need to do in some of the puzzles.

P.S - Probably not a good idea to try BoxVR in the current heat unless you are playing in a really chilled room 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,284 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Or not so clever when you can't figure out, which is also likely. 🤔

Yeah, Boxvr well probably end up getting as much use as my Ringfit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,635 ✭✭✭JimBurnley

BoxVR is class, I preferred it to Beat Saber, more variation in terms of tunes and actions.

Definitely not one to play in a heatwave tho!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,862 ✭✭✭✭mrcheez

I used BoxVR loads when the lockdown initially started, but I wasn't a fan of cleaning up the sweat pooled all over the floor 😄

I reserve my Quest 1 for sweaty VR out in the garden and keep my PSVR and Quest 2 in pristine condition 😁

Just finished Moss and may I just say it is a great wee game but

Feck that big dragon snake thing coming out of nowhere with its jump scares.

Think I'm nearly finished Statik now. Might get back to it on Thursday.
