Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

£109.99 for the full fat version! Still I'd rather that than no release with this sort of specialised software.

    Not one single helicopter

It's still cheaper than buying X-Plane 11 and the Flightfactor A320.

I think we're missing the point that the Standard Edition includes Donegal Airport! :pac:

I think I've tried every version of FS on the PC and never really got into it. But the buzz of trying to getting Chicago in those early version is still the same with every new release.

Default field in the early versions and the most detailed.

You haven't lived until you've tried landing the 172 in FS2 on a Commodore 64 using digital joysticks. Only way to get close was to set the cloudbase to 200 Ft and fly on instruments all the way down to cloudbreak, and if it was aligned with the runway at that point, that was about as good as it got.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

I think I first saw it on an Atari 520ST.

Haven't heard from Aerosoft or PMDG if they will offer some products like the Airbus Professional series or 747 V3 discounted to those who bought it for P3D 4 or 5.

Looking forward to testing the A320!

Looking forward to testing the A320!

The PMDG 737 NGXu was sold for P3D on the basis that the upgrade fee for MSFS2020 would be small enough.

All of the scenery developers are saying the scenery SDK (from what they've seen so far) is completely different and it's all new work so upgrade fees will be high enough I'd say.

With aircraft, the logic for instruments and avionics is the same but the way it gets the values through SDK will be a lot different so all will be charging for it I'd say.

Proof that time travel is possible.. :O either that or I've overslept(again) and it's Friday already ;) I suppose it might be an interesting opportunity to find out if the NDA's are temporally applicable
I make it about 540,600.00 secs fro the rest of us and 281,400.00 sec for future you. :D;)

I haven't had a gaming PC for years. How much would I want to spend to be able to play FS2020 decently?

There was also talk of an Xbox version but that seems to have disappeared?

The sky is the limit, if you'll excuse the pun. ObsidianAnt on YouTube has done some comparisons on various settings. The recommended spec is 32GB ram and basically the best CPU and GPU budget allows.

If you ask over in building and upgrading they'll give you some build and prices.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,648 ✭✭✭✭beauf

You're really looking at something closer to 2k I reckon. Though it will probably scale, so a minimum spec is around 650-800.

    https://youtu.be/I9VAxhYBq2o

I think though it would be pointless to use this game like that. You really need to spending 1200-1500 to make the most of it.

I'd wait and see the videos specs after it's released. As more people will try it on different hardware and we'll get a better idea.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,684 ✭✭✭✭Samuel T. Cogley

Just in case you do want to rush out and buy something, dont. New GPUs are imminent and could shake things up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 450 ✭✭beanian

Also is it worth waiting for the Xbox Series X which will almost certainly out perform any computer you can build for the same price? Price is expected to be around €500-600. You wouldnt be able to build anything anywhere near as performant for that price yourself.
The downside is you have to wait a bit longer to get in the air! Novemebr is the rumourewd release date, I suspect MFS will be a launch title on the XSX.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,442 ✭✭✭embraer170

Thanks for the tips. I think I will wait.

Been looking at some videos on youtube and it looks great. Was a massive flight sim geek back in the early 2000s but drifted away from it. Really keen to give it another shot. Any previews of ireland available?Any indication on how good the imagery for Ireland will be. Will need to upgrade my hardware so appreciate the tips on waiting for the new GPUs to arrive.

Donegal is going to be one of their highly detailed airports, screenshot here:

There was also a leaked video of a guy flying around Co. Donegal and it looked really good, with all houses and trees showing up even in the countryside. I can't seem to find that video anymore though.

I bought this on advice from a dear friend to run XP11 & I’ve a heap of add ons from Ciano & soon to get his Helipads & I’m daily hitting 70-90 frames per second. Monitor included.

I hate to be that guy but that's gonna struggle with FS2020.

Sorry but that's a very low end PC. Inspiron is the budget model line for Dell. You'd want to be getting the XPS line or Alienware to be getting good performance at high/ultra settings in MSFS.

    Even better, build one yourself.

It not a low end PC but it is on the lower end of Gaming PCs. Which is very different.

FS2020 looks like needing a monster Gaming Rig to get the best (acceptable) out if it.

Do Intel create any desktop CPUs lower than i5? It's a mediocre PC spec at best, gaming or not.

And this thread is about FS which is a game, so not sure what your point is anyway.

Yes they do ... (not sure that was genuine question), and that rig will play "most games" at 1080 with ok frame rates (60fps -ish), you might have to drop the level of visual detail.

But FS2020 is not most games. Its looking like being one of the most demanding titles you can get.

I think its useful and informative to look at the different levels of spec that will get a usable, enjoyable, immersive experience. But that level will be different for everyone. I enjoy discussing the hardware aspect anyway.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,648 ✭✭✭✭beauf

That youtube video reminded me of the early version of the FS where you would fly at night and away from cities to keep the frame rate up.

I get all your points but either way my set up is what I posted above and my framerates are high, framerates high = happy :D

Guys, If anyone is self employed or has access to a VAT number/CRO Number, PC specialist in the UK will exclude the VAT. I got a 1890 euro machine for 1550.

You can register with Amazon Business and avail of the same thing.

It's the same with anywhere in Europe - the VAT is deducted at source if you're a VAT registered business. Sometimes you need to contact them to deduct the VAT though.

Is that sale registered on the Irish system if you pay with your own Debit card i wonder......

I'd be very impressed with Revenue if they had such tight integration that all sales through Amazon business were registered against a business...

What's Microsoft's long term plan with this? Will there be a FS 2021, 2022, etc, or will the 2020 version be around for some time with regular updates and DLCs. Seem to remember they released a new version about every 2 years back in the 2000s.

It's a 'platform' so will be around for sometime. It's a tick tock of freeLC and then paid updates IIRC.

Yep but you will be able to install all addons with a simple click from the market place, much simplified from the previous iteration.

Just saw that confirmed now in this video by fellow Irishman Gripper Sim aka Reaction Review:

Much better than potentially game breaking X-Plane addons which are a balls to install imo.

Looks like he got the official release early.

    Anyone watch his videos btw?
I find him entertaining, hes either a Wickow or Wexford man, can't remember and is flight instructor for commercial pilots so he's earned his stripes.

I wonder if he's lurking this sub forum! :o

I find him great entertainment, the way he just jumped in to the bushplane and landed on that strip in PNG then rolled backwards.:pac:
