Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Tips i've noticed in the parade ring.

    any horse shrugging it's head or agitated is the one to bet.

    anywhere you can get discounts or free tickets for the races?:D

    Topaz Fuel Stations use to do them for a tenner for Tuesdays.

    Ah well, our political parties use to have tents there too but don't any more...unless that's changing this year. Maybe they'll just be invited to the Topaz tent :) ...the guy that owns the country can still have a tent

    I also work in Ballybrit and the traffic the last 2 weeks was awful I thought to be honest. Worst it's been in a long time, probably since the start of when the bridge road was being worked on.

    It's been pretty poor the past two weeks but nothing to do with race week, if you use the back roads then you can be back in town a lot quicker. We get from Briarhill Business Park to Menlo/Terryland area in about 5 minutes most evenings and in the mornings leave at about 8:20 and get to work well before half past.

    Depends on yours hours and the day. The Monday hasn't got a huge crowd the last few years and that's an evening meet.. So, it may well not be too bad if that's the only impact to you

    There's so much going on in the summer that traffic can jam up at any time.
    A while back I managed to come back to the city from Mayo just before the big Galway/Mayo game, almost impossible to drive through the city.

    This year I'm not going away for it, will try to be all zen about it instead.

    Couldn't care less about horses I just want to get drunk. Last night was good not too packed but plenty of people around. Giving tonight and Thursday night a miss though. I do find the race week crowd to be a bit nastier and messier than usual towards the end of the week.

    I have to be leaving Galway on the N17 late afternoon or early evening tonight. Can someone tell me what sort of time people start to leave the course/when the road gets busy?.

    The last race is 7:10, so expect traffic after that.

    People leaving work will be more of an issue than race-goers probably from 5 on-wards. The days of businesses shutting down for race week are well gone.

    I know of places closing from lunch today for the rest of the week, not as many as one time but it still happens.

    Check with the hotel as it most likely be running a shuttle bus.

    I know Seven Bridge St were doing a race shuttle/bubbly deal on some of the days, I'd say a few places are. Ye could cab into town from Salthill and do a pitstop.
