Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Great recovery from GDR in rd 2

Another good fight this, randomine looks ****ed tho wont go the distance surly,?

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,056 ✭✭✭darced

GDR's grappling is worse than expected.

Thought Aldo did just enough to get the decision but that 3rd rd he was non-existent.

Was there any reason for no leg-kicks by Aldo? Any injuries sustained, found it very strange as a couple of leg-kicks in each rd would have swung it for him.

Aldo hasn't thrown leg kicks in around 5 years?

I'm still surprised Nunes didn't finish the arm triangle in round one. Even on the ground she should be doing more than she is since. Nearly for caught at the start of round 4 which is nuts.

Can’t get the fight on tv. Need updates. I’ve got Colby t finish 3rd round tko

    49-45 imo

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,149 ✭✭✭mangobob

What a shame. That fight was entertaining on the feet, but turned into a one sided wrestle fest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,942 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

    I'd guess 50-43.

Waitress for the judges to screw Nunes here.

Best opponent Amanda has faced, I'd like to see a rematch sometime.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,056 ✭✭✭darced

Really disappointed there,I thought Nunes would strike. She is more vulnerable than I thought.

Would have to be a long time in the future though. GDR's grappling is just totally inadequate. On the feet she definitely has the measure of Nunes, but a rematch anytime soon would just look exactly the same.

Knew randomine would have enough for Nunes on the feet did not think she'd play dead on the ground tho. Good scrap while it lasted

I thought the Shevchenko fights were a lot closer & a better watch. De Randamie is an awkward opponent for Nunes & that's all I can really say about her after it. I think Valentina would beat Nunes if she performed like that.

At least we can be fairly sure that the co-main will be be a better spectacle.

She already did beat her imho. Bullet has her number for sure.

This should be good Holloways chin will fall off a cliff sometime, maybe tonight?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,438 ✭✭✭Still Ill

Yeah, my mind has been changed. Think Volkan might do to Max what Dustin did. I hope I'm wrong and Max produces another masterclass and cements his position as the GOAT featherweight.

GDR has lost two similar fights to Nunes, there will not be a third.

    10 9 to Volkan imo.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,149 ✭✭✭mangobob

close but 20 18 Volkan for me.

Volkanovski has got his tactics spot on, hard to see Max turning this around now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 738 ✭✭✭MikeyGorse

    Volkanovski ahead surely

Yeah, needs a KO and probably doesn't have the power

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,149 ✭✭✭mangobob

Rd 3 clearly won by Volkan. 30 27

I expected this fight to be a barn burner, kinda disappointed.

Really? I think its a great fight. Its everything the last fight wasn't. All its missing is some knock downs, but both of these guys are so durable.

  • Registered Users Posts: 663 ✭✭✭MidlanderMan

This fight playing out as the touch and go snooze fest I expect the main event to be.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,942 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Well I told you all about this guy before his first UFC fight. He is something special. Regardless of the outcome he will be highly respected after this fight. I think he is up by three rounds to one.

I really just think Max is being too timid after the DP fight at 155.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,149 ✭✭✭mangobob

Fantastic fight. I think Volkan has taken it. Best guess he wins 3 rounds to 2.

  • Registered Users Posts: 663 ✭✭✭MidlanderMan

    48-47 AV.

Max lost this fight, he should be confident about taking the rematch handily.

    Not much of a spectical.

Magnificent performance from Alexander. Absolutely delighted for him.

    50 45??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,127 ✭✭✭finglashoop

    50 45??

  • Registered Users Posts: 663 ✭✭✭MidlanderMan

Whatever judge scored it 50-45 needs to be taken out and shot.

Judges in Vegas are, routinely, retarded.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,056 ✭✭✭darced

    50 45??

Outstruck him easily on strikes landed in every round.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,942 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

    50 45??

Did you see the graph of the strikes per round? He hit more than Max in every round

Max is everything a champ should be. Weirdly he has gone up even higher in my estimation watching him handle that defeat. Just class.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,056 ✭✭✭darced

I can't wait to see who is the better wrestler here, come on Colby.

    Why do you think that?

Volk came in with a perfect gameplan. Totally nullified Max, I though he might get caught going in with his head down but he managed well. Great to see them both having fun in there, hope the main event is as exciting.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,438 ✭✭✭Still Ill

Dunno what the shock about 50-45 is. I thought 49-46 myself. Volkan completely nullified Max. Max is the perfect role model. He's what sportsmen should be. Hope he comes back from this.

  • Registered Users Posts: 663 ✭✭✭MidlanderMan

I cannot stress how much I hope Usman murders Covington inside 1 round.

But I expect this to be one of the most boring fights in recent memory.

Two lackluster strikers who lack the ability to dominate the other in any area.

On paper Usman is the better wrestler. He's competed at a higher level, but the difference in the level is not as high as it might appear.

Both have the stamina for 5 rounds, both have the take down defence to nullify the other, and neither is a particularly good striker.

Could be a classic, but I expect it to be a stinker.

I just think Max was gun shy after his expedition up to 155 and overly cautious because of it.

Why wouldn't anyone want that clown to get destroyed?

Because they are smart enough to know its just an act?

I think its absolutely hilarious how many people he has triggered with his heel shtick. I thought it was too obvious to succeed when he first started, but it has worked like a dream. Good for him.
