Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

4-0 in bellator big name for sbg

He lost his last one in Dublin didn't he? KO'd by a young lad from MVP's gym?

Sorry, he's lost since then too. He's 4-3 in Bellator.

    #IrishMMA went 9-3 this weekend.

    ✅ Maguire
    ❌ Mulholland
    ✅ Mitchell
    ✅ Barry
    ✅ Garry
    ❌ Hill
    ❌ McClurkin
    ✅ Neilan
    ✅ Smullen
    ✅ Mlambo
    ✅ Hughes
    ✅ Fleury

    #CW114 #CW115 #CW116 #BellatorES8 #UAEWarriors13

I have to say I'm familiar with all those fighters expect Hill and McClurkin, where do they fight out off? Plus Maguire and Mulholland fought each other so that skews the stat negatively a little :) We can say Irish fighters won 9/11 fights this weekend.

Some more big SBG names fighting next weekend too, Crosbie, Moore, O'Driscoll.

Another big weekend for Sbg Ireland and Ireland in General..

The big one is James Gallagher vs Cal Ellenor. God Id love to see Gallagher lose.

You have another pound shop mcgregor fighting in Keifer Crosbie against Charlie Leary (16-11) so experiences could be a test.

Charlie ward Sinead kavanagh and Brain Moore fighting aswell

Agreed about Gallagher, but he is making the dough so fair play if they want to pay him for fighting cans. As for Keifer. all the talk from him about being a beast, a future champ, a machine etc etc and here he is fighting another can - at his age he would want to up the level of competition.

At least with Charlie Ward he is not as full of rubbish like the other lads, he just goes in and get's knocked out or knocks out someone.

His opponent is 8-2. Seems reason for Gallagher at this stage.

Brian Moore with a great win, rough ride, knocked down then gets up to throw some bombs and win by KO

We actually got to fight week without any drama from Gallagher?

Its the Conor act and acting like he's the greatest fighter to ever step into the cage that has turned people off of him. He's fighting cans, claimed he nearly quit the sport out of fear, yet acts like he's invincible without any sense of self awareness.

Who'd pay to see him at stage? He's already been written as a can crusher with a horrible Conor impression. Bellator have hitched their wagons to him for some reason. So he'll be protected as long as possible.

He has a massive watch, sure I'll be watching hoping he's beaten

i see channel 5 has bellator down on the listings for later. is it tape delayed or what ? i might tune in with hope to see half price mcgregor take a beating.

I think its live from Milan. Prelims are on youtube from 6.15

I don't buy into the hate for Gallagher, he's 23 and dedicated his life so far to mma. You can only beat whats put in front of you

Its the phony Conor "I'm the greatest. Nobody can beat me!" act while being protected and being fed cans. Yeah. No **** that's going to turn people off of him. Especially since Bellator is marketing as on of their greatest fighters.

Crosbie got flogged there, lucky the doctor stopped it. Bit arrogant started walking through the shots, hands down and got caught.

No lack of heart from Keifer but definitely showed a lack of fight IQ. The cut gives him a ready made excuse to moan but I think if he's honest with himself he will know he was well beat.

I can't understand why he kept dripping his hands, tagged tagged, step back drop hands, tagged again and again. Madness.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,563 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Crosbie seemed to totally underestimate Leary there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,505 ✭✭✭but1er

Charlie ward to be beaten here. 9/4 on PP if your quick

Thought the same. I've seen fights stopped for a lot less. Saved by the bell at the end of that round.

Definitely. He was talking about calling out Myles Jury after he wins tonight.

    He's never like that.

    Very strange.

Couldn't find anything in MMA other than UFC betting. PP isn't the best website anyway. Should have got the app probably

Poor quality fight this. Ward is all power punches, he has no idea how to progress through the positions on the ground.

I have to give it to Andy worked more then Charlie

Poor fight alright. That's the type of dry humping exhibition that turns off the casual viewer.

Andy had that he worked hard from the bottom in the last round. Ward just sat in his gaurd doing nothing.

Bellator beat the UFC anyway on fighters with **** tattoos.

    Easy work for Gallagher.

    Some choke from Gallagher, impressive.

    Time for pettis

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,284 ✭✭✭✭rob316

I'll give him credit this time I don't think that guy wasn't a total can, lovely control and work to get the RNC. Ellenor defended it well enough until the end.

His persona is just so unlikeable, I just can't take to him at all. The only thing I actually like about him is his bjj skills. Unquestionably a fantastic talent when it hits the ground. That little move in the scramble, after the initial takedown, to wrap up the leg and transition to the back so quickly and smoothly was beautiful.

I love Gallaghers BJJ. So calm and slick. Does everything right. Ellenor defended well and all but Jimmy looked one step ahead all the time

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,359 ✭✭✭Porthallian

Enjoyed everything except his post fight interview. Please stop the Conor impression James. Even changes his accent, it's ludicrous.

"Who do you want to fight next?"
    "All of them".

He tries too hard. If he just let his fighting do the talking he'd be grand and win far more fans.

Exactly. The boasting about being the greatest when he has fought a string of bums is obnoxious, but it wouldn't matter if he was the greatest fighter to ever step into the cage. Copying the persona, traits, accent, tattoos, phrases and fecking everything of another person is pathetic and cringy beyond belief.

Brett Johns is in the mix now, I think he schools Gallagher.

And I've met him a few times, trained with him and he's a really nice kid. The persona is awful though but they all seem to have this mouthy scumbag attitude.

His persona actually puts me off rooting for him. I want to like him, he's Irish so by default I would be rooting for him but that persona just makes me cringe so much.

Alot of Irish fighters seem to have this idea that if they act like Conor they'll get his big paydays. Conor atleast backed up his big mouth and did fight the top guys [and lost to some of them] thus earning his pay checks. Discount Conor Gallagher is being protected all the way, fighting cans, and yet is the main event. This will wear thin on the audience eventually.

Same as - he's a nice chap, it's jarring to hear the persona speaking. If it gets him paid, I won't begrudge him but it doesn't work for me personally. Beautiful trip to the back take and looked excellent and controlling after that. Great performance.

McGregor wasn't just a mouth either. His was pretty funny and his trash talk was good. He was genuinely entertaining to watch and listen too. He didn't just roar 'I'm the best' over and over again. These guys don't realise it was that part of McGregor we loved (and his fighting as well obviously).

Conor was really witty and charismatic at first. And then he became a caricature of himself. Sadly its the caricature that people like Gallagher are imitating.

+1 met him in Strabane when he did a homecoming and taught us a class in his original gym of SBG Strabane. Was about 3 years ago when he was breaking through. Really nice young lad. So helpful and knowledgeable. His jiu-jitsu is off the charts. Has to be one of the best in Ireland at his age.

Just a shame that he still hasn't realized ripping off Conor's persona isn't winning him any fans. But then again if it's getting him main events and the Bellator bosses are liking it then fair enough.
