Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi!
My name is Clare and I have been a lacto-ovo-vegetarian since I started college, many moons ago. I became vegetarian for ethical and in particular environmental reasons. I love being vegetarian but I do miss occasionally pannacotta:( particulary when the OH eats the M&S ones right in front of me gleefully:mad:I'm all for saving the planet and in particular panda, snow leopards and coral. I love them!! I love bright colours in particular yellow and orange and always have sunflowers and gerberas in the apartment. In terms of music, I like a bit of everything in particular a bit of metal:D. I'm very excited at the moment as I hear Rammstein may be coming to Ireland next year. They are amazing in concert. I am also a teacher of subject which likes its meat alot alas!!!!!

Welcome aboard clare, Same as you, since I started college, same reasons too, no idea what pannacotta is though! Metal is my favourite too, would love to see rammstein here, all I have seen in Ireland is slipknot and metallica a few times, then tool and slayer concerts. :)
    Oh and sunno)))

lol, only just realised that everyone else said a bit about themselves along with a pic, but as my other pics didn't tell much maybe it was appropriate...

Anywho, I'm David, but almost everyone knows me as cocoa anyway =) I'm about to go into third year of electronic engineering and hopefully, move out for good =) I like ultimate frisbee and juggling =) I'm vegan right now (and for one more month) mostly out of curiosity. When I did some research it seemed that being vegan or vegetarian could only help my health and in some people had great effects =) So I'm vegan for three months to see what happens =P At this stage I haven't seen much difference, but than I haven't really been eating properly so I might extend the test =) I don't really love meat (or any food for that matter) so I reckon if it's as easy not to, then I shouldn't be going out of my way to eat animals... It seems I'll be vegetarian from here on out anyway =) (which now seems soooo easy =P)

and finally, a proper -ish pic :

Why did I not find this thread before now? 'Cos I'm lazy, that's why!

Hello all, my name is Missiechan (my real name is a mystery, even to me) I'm twenty-six, I work in childcare and I'm a vegetarian. If backed into a corner I'll eat a little fish, like if I'm in a place with a big group that serves nothing veggie (yes, I'm looking at you Bubba Gump's of Orlando, Florida!) but I prefer not to.

My hobbies are drawing, sewing, knitting, reading, playing video games and dressing up as fictional characters for the craic. There are several others but I'll need more space to write them in.

Also, I have a real thing for musicals. Just 'cos.

So you are a pescetarian, veering towards vegetarian land!?!! Anyhow, being a pescetarian in these parts is better than saying you are a veggie that eats fish. :o
Welcome :) From what part of the country to you hail? We've had meet-ups in Dublin, Cork and soon to be various counties in the West.

Hey, Redwoods do quite passable fish fingers. Not as fishy as the real thing but uncannily similar in texture. Good for a fish finger sammich.
Am wondering whether a bit o'seaweed would make them "fishier" but I bought the last packet in Listons and they don't look like they're restocking, so I may not have an answer for ye anytime soon..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,128 ✭✭✭sweet-rasmus

My cat approves of those fish fingers :) Can't imagine what it's like between bread. I think we discussed fake fish some thread there a while back...

...now, back to introductions and pics :D

Not really, I don't like fish at all and prefer not to eat it. But there are occasions, like in hospital or on a plane, where my only other option was 'go hungry.' Florida was one of the worst, I could bluff it out in the all-you-can-eat salad bars but places that specialise in seafood had nothing to offer me. At least I held out until the second last day of the holiday!

And yes Tar.Aldarion, I am indeed talking about cosplay. That fuzzy pic of me there is meant to be me with KK Slider ^_^

    o hai missiechan.

I know you from the Zom beers didn't know you were veggie too. I was in Orlando, horrible place to be a veggie. we all have slip ups don't worry as long keep at it.

Also most airlines have an option to book a veggie meal at no extra cost. I did it and there was a mix up so I had no meal, as compensation I was put in first class:)

  • Registered Users Posts: 193 ✭✭Missiechan

Hey smegmar! I think I recall us having a discussion about vegetarianism in the pub during our undead cannibal discussion group.

Actually, do people count as meat?

I was offered no reward on the plane, I was told I could have chicken or nothing. T_T Same with the hospital.

Ok the plane thing wouldn't bother me.
It is just one meal....but when your sick and stuck in hospital!
    For christs sake!!!
    Which hospital was this?
I get really mean when I'm hungary, more fool them if they try starve me. :pac:

I'm shocked that Florida would be so bad.
Even in Serbia, where they are obsessed with fitting as many grilled meats into a meal as possible. I never had to go without.
I mean it is warm there, don't people like salad?

I'm Amy(hello hello), 23, a general nurse & have been vegetarian with vegan aspirations for over a year now. Previous history of numerous vegetarian attempts, but stopped in my tracks by overly concerned parents each time....

Am heading off to London next year to do my MSC. in Nutrition...:D (Wahoo). Have always had an interest in the alternative approach to health/lifestyle with strong belief that diet & other lifestyle factors are a major cause of a lot of illnesses/disease today. And yeah, that's one of the main reasons I became vegetarian :) Other reasons being ecological & ethical.

Can cook!! And love to. Love music, food, cooking, film, attempting to make/feck up clothes, occupying my already overactive mind with interesting books & a million other things which I won't bother mentioning.

Nice hair! You say you make movies? What kind? 0_o :)
What games you play? Love them myself

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 48 Xandrius

I make all kinds of movies, mostly short movies but I have also made some longer documentaries and music videos. I have studied journalism and film making for 6 years. I also started to make a documentary for an animal rights group in Norway but since I did not live in Oslo at the time it was difficult so I canceled the project, but I would really like to make some animal right films in the future. When it comes to games I mostly play Xbox360 games, sometimes i play pc games but not as much as before I got the 360. Genre of games I have to say stradegy games, shooters and RPG games like red alert 3, battlefield series and fallout 3, Oblivion and so on.

    How about yourself?

No Im not dressed up, this is how I look sometimes. I dont have the mohawk right now but still have short hair and the facial hair. Lets say it this way we like the swedes better than the finns since we understand what the swedes say, but of course we have alot of jokes about the swedes.

Just had a look at some of your stuff, the trailers are funny! Did you actually make the full length films or just the trailers?
I liked Esken/The Box. I thought I didn't understand it because it's in Norwegian but then I saw the name 'David Lynch' mentioned in the description ;)
Some great acting there too :D
The video's are well shot, do you shoot them yourself? What kind of camera do you use? The Taste The Flower trailer is very nicely shot.

And since I asked, I better show you some of my stuff too:
    <Mod snip>

I'm quite critical of what I have on there, but some of it's okay! I've been mainly editing for the past two years or so, I studied Film and TV at college and specialised in editing. A short film and doc that I cut are on there, aswell as some other silly stuff. Me and my friend are just finishing off a music video now though and I think it's an improvement on earlier stuff.

Anyway, thanks for the links to your vids, let me know what you think of mine if you get a chance to have a look :)

That's cool about the films, must watch them now, especially the one with 'explicit content' haha.

I've played red alert, fallout, oblivion etc, loved them. Am more into strategy and first person shooters these days becuase it is multiplayer and I love having a laugh talking to friends while I play, on ventrilo etc.
Love meeting up with them for drinks and LANs.
I'm not sure if you are into those but if you are, check out http://www.lanparty.ie/lans.php?id=89
There will be a lot of boardsies there including me.

I am Irish, that line is from a swedish song about a game I play, DotA, a warcraft III mod. It's my favourite game along with CSS.

Accurate video, ignoring girls in the dark for our gaming love. :D
Would love to go to dreamhack, in Sweden.

Have always wanted to visit Norway. I do quite like the look of it and it's liking of metal.

Anyone who's seen Esmerelda always say 'surely all the pesky thieves should have come and taken her away in the end???' It would've been a way better ending but I just didn't think of it. Maybe because we only had two hours with the camera and then my sister had to go to work or college or someplace (she's the leading lady you see!)
But yeah, Lough Atalia's a great location, hee hee, almost as exciting as Barna Woods!

Your brother's video's hilarious! Never have I seen such an authentic portrayal of rage :D and 'other emotions'!
And interesting use of the music from the film I can never spell... Will have to look it up... Koyaanisqatsi, yes that's it...

Hey I'm new to this so thought I'd post here first. I'm a 21 year old student from Newbridge, Co Kildare. I turned veggie over the summer when in America on my J1. I guess seeing the American diet and food industry first-hand kind of made me realise how meat-eating can damage the environment and is all about excess. Some further research into the way animals are treated made me finally realise that I don't want to consume meat anymore so I have been veggie for over a month now - finding it easy really. :)

Anyhow, look forward to joining in the discussion here whenever I may be of use to it. Keep doing what ye're doing on here, I habe enjoyed reading it since I turned Veggie (and before hand too)!

    Oh and this is me.

But her despair would've been increased by her being ambushed by the crazy-hatted gang! Sigh, I live in regret :o
Nah, I'm taller than her, she is part pixie. It's me in the stop motion scarf video also on that page though. That was fun to do.

Feature Length?! This Mystic Stag must be a complex creature...

I also liked your stop motion video, I really love making stop motion since it is really funny. I have not had the chance to watch any of your other movies yet but I will do it when I get home from work since we are not allowed to watch videoes here, stupid rule. ANyway here is one of my stop motion videos, hope you enjoy it even though it is in norwegian.
