Leanne is a little country, but that's cool especially when sung acapella - Love this hymn.

Bit left field but this song is better than most xian music out their.

I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though it all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah

This is the kind of stuff we should be sending into the Eurovision, stick to what we know, tell them the good news. I don't think Marilla is Irish though.

There are quite a few modern songs I like, as an example

You are God, You are good, Forever faithful One

I love this song in particular- but it also should remind us of our sisters and brothers dying and fighting for Christ in the country where Christians were first called Christians.

I'm not a Christian, but I do like Steve Earle's 'Nothing but a Child'. And I do find myself singing alone with religious songs on the TV/movies etc from time to time. It's not true that the Devil has all the best tunes. ;)

He'll be missed - there's a nice piece on him here. Ultimately, those who enjoyed his music should be thankful for his life, particularly as he suffered greatly throughout his life with ill health as a result of Marfan syndrome. Rest in peace Sir John.

pmsl, love it! You are posting the first of the Christmas Carols Lady Chuckles - no prizes for guessing who loves Advent :pac:

Me too, I've learned to appreciate it better - especially those hymns.

I have fascinated by the Appalachians recently and their musical heritage much of which goes back to my native Ulster. This song was originally written by Charles Wesley and whatever you may think of the Wesley brothers theology they had an extremely positive effect on both England and Wales in their time. The song is about facing death and its often only when we actively face the fact that we will die that we can be actually spiritual.

So, apparently it's the 'build up' to Christmas already - even though it's November still, never too early I guess to have an opinion on Christmas holiday season.

Anyways, speaking of Santa has begun in our families, and indeed online too - but also the lead up to advent too...I love this hymn, but love one single line that out does Santa anyday - 'and the soul felt it's worth..' speaks volumes! May we all know our worth and see each others worth in the coming weeks..and enjoy Christmas and amid the 'mad' buildup see something special about others too..
