Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yeah, you can't win them all. If I aligned the bottom, the top would be out. What can you do?

Get them to move that floodlight and re-paint the lines!

No doubt it's the kind of thing you wouldn't notice at ground level.

    Sorry @New Home :o

    :)

I couldn't for the life of me figure why anyone would botch that so badly, but when I went to fix it, i realized it was to stop players killing themselves by running into the floodlight pole.

Thanks for fixing it, but now I'm looking at the top border vs. the bottom border. AAAARGH, will this ever stop!!!

(Yeah, I know, I know, I need help, I've been told that before...)

I didn't think I had a shred of OCD in me, but I have a desperate urge to fix the alignment of that court, second from the right on the bottom! :pac:

What's even worse is both flood lights!

Butbuthut... what about the floodlights? They were breaking up a repetitive pattern in such a pleasant way...

Ah but they were desperately positioned anyway. Sure if you were on court n°1 you'd need glow in the dark balls. :D

I once woke up because one of those was crawling over my face. To the uninitiated, that is barely a macro shot as they are almost the size of your hand.

He wasn't that big. Maybe half size that you'd expect. Found him hanging, literally by 1 leg on the bathroom wall. He was sick/dying and initially I thought it was an empty skin. I popped him in a drinks glass and shot him. I even popped on my 2x teleconverter to get the super close up. All sharp enough for handheld too I think.

Released him into the garden afterwards.

Love it. Wish we had bigger spiders here to be honest. Would love to find a rain spider wandering around the garden.

    Hi Copperhead

Thanks for the comment. It's a selfie so not as controlled as I would like - the (camera) right light was a bit bright. I was using a pair of flashes (1 Nikon and 1 Yongua), set up on stands, shooting through white umbrellas. I used 4 Yongua triggers, 1 on each flash, 1 on camera and 1 in my hand to trigger the exposure.

The camera and flashes were set to manual with group autofocus. Nikon D810, Nikon 70-200 f2.8 at 122mm, 1/160", ISO 64, f8. The left flash was set at full power in front and to the left of me with the flash about 6.5' high and the right flash at half power, at about 4', slightly behind me (I'm 5'7").

I adjusted the power by moving the flashes closer or further away.

I took the photos in my back garden at night, which explains the right hand flash being a bit hot - I couldn't move it further away from me as there was a hedge in the way.

I was too lazy to move the whole set up to a different part of the garden and also, the neighbours would then be able to see me. They think I'm mad enough as it is.

    Hope this helps.

    Adrian

If I get get satisfied, I get lazy! And if I get lazy, I don't learn.

I like the photo but I just want to improve. For me, photography is like life. A journey, not a destination.

    And I do enjoy it!

My sister is renovating an old house in Roscommon, used to be two elderly sisters living there. Inside an old dresser she found that little fledgeling and butterfly, the rest is what remains of the contents of the house.

I can't see it, it must be like one of those optical illusion books that you have to look at it a certain way, can you draw over it?

I've only my phone where I can't do anything more than crop the pictures, I'm afraid. The three short darkish lines are his left eyebrow, eyelashes and the top of his cheekbone.

    DIY Lens mounted on 4x5:

    50368693651_0ab389b6f0_w.jpg

I've been messing around a bit with DIY lenses, this one is 177mm FL, shooting it at f/8, and is 3 elements in 2 groups, stop in the middle. Single positive (and plastic :-P ) meniscus at the front, a cemented achromatic doublet at the back. Could probably do with being stopped down a bit more :-D

Firstly, thanks for your comment and second, I hate to disappoint but its mostly in my head. The wreck is the MV Plassey on Inish Oirr, the rest is Photoshop. The original photo is below
