Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Do you know how many applicants are in each batch?

Not sure. I have a feeling about 100 or so. When I was looking at the interviews on boards.ie 2 years ago to see what number had been reached It seemed it was roughly 20 a day interviewed but that was close to summer. So your guess is as good as mine. Of course now with the new format lasting 20 mins there's less quota per day.

Anyone know what the deal is with e-vetting? Are we meant to submit this somewhere on the public jobs website? I went to Gardaí with form but they said to submit onlinne but I can't see where to do this. Thanks!

You return the form to PAS at your interview and they send you an email with a link to complete the vetting process.

Anyone called for interview from tipperary panel yet, just wondering what oom they're at and if it's full year or summer only. Thanks.

It's my understanding that results of the interviews won't be known until 10-14 days after the interviews take place and then a panel is formed. If that's the case, it will be a while before offers are made.

I had my interview on the 22nd and was told I would know if I made the panel in about 10 days. Hoping to hear one way or the other soon.

Is the timeframe for hearing whether you are successful at interview stage generally 10 days?

Had my interview for TCO yesterday, and asked how long I'd be waiting for their decision, but did not receive a clear answer.

I interviewed in publicjobs on the 22nd and in the time I was waiting to go in for my interview no less than 15 other candidates arrived/got called into interview. Multiple rooms being used. It was like a conveyor belt :pac:.

How long after interview should you expect to recieve the link for the e vetting?

Had my interview on Wednesday 29th but don't know when I should expect to hear back from interview? Asked the interviewers but did not get a clear response. I presume you get vetting link after being told outcome of interview..
    Anyone able to help?

I imagine you wouldn't get the vetting link until the results of the interview are out and you pass. It might even be when you get a job offer.

It clearly states in the familiarisation material that the Garda vetting only comes into play if you are offered and accept a position,so don't worry unless you get to that point

Does anyone know if these interviews are pass/fail and if so does your order of merit change or if you get a new order of merit

This year it’s pass/fail and your merit won’t change

Presumably your OOM will change if people ahead of you fail or don't show up at all.

I think you could find your OOM improving greatly if you do well at the interview

  • Registered Users Posts: 288 ✭✭cvb03

It used to be pass or fail however last year my OOM of merit changed after the interview. I am not sure whether it's the same process this year. We should know when we get our results. Hopefully its soon.

Last year after the interview you received your score of your competencies. 20 was qualifying score and 50 max score. This year it’s pass or fail only. You won’t get a new oom but if people ahead of you failed/didn’t show up for the interview/rescheduled the interview they get to you quicker. Same when people before you on the panel don’t take the job offer.

Somebody told me that this year HEO's and AP's can call back former tco's if they were happy about their work. Anyone has any info on that?

Interesting. That sounds too good to be true. Would make sense but that would mess up the whole OOM system and would go against the fair employer status. Last year when PAS rang me with the offer they couldn’t even tell me what section I was being assigned to.

I have never heard that before. When I was in revenue I was told HEO or Ap had no control whatsoever over extensions. But what you say could hold some truth.
For example I read that according to Forsa last year a competition for cos in a garda station had to be rerun because of so few applicants.

Some areas do find it difficult to attract people especially defence so the above may well be the case

Do we get the interview result via the PublicJobs.ie messageboard?

    yes

Why do they ask for references and vetting form at the start? Wouldn't it make more sense after interview results are published?

I agree,Any other job you would do that when your hired but the Garda vetting only comes into play if you are offered and accept a position. I guess they just want everything ready

Its strange because for TCO jobs there was no vetting in the past. Certainly not in 2018 with the exception of police stations which I believe takes months.

And in 2016 I was offered a position in CDETb which at the time was not under public jobs the vetting started once you accepted the offer.

Strange situation. Or are they going to be lenient and offer jobs to pretty much anyone they interview??

    Lol.

Don't know about that, but if the person is being given a job anyway based on oom they can request them back to their dept. Seen it happen to someone I know very well

I have been for my interview on the 27th, (all year) but there was interviews for summer panel taking place as well.

  • Registered Users Posts: 85 ✭✭abbeybella

Any idea if it's possible to change from all year availability to Summer only as my circumstances have changed( no result of interview yet ) so I don't really want to ring

Has anyone got results of interview yet?

I e-mailed Orla Coughlan early last week and she said interviews were due to finish last Friday (31st) and that we'd hear this week.

No, I had my interview 2 weeks today and still waiting to hear a result. Thought it would have been this week.

SO hopefully we may here next week or there after. I was told 10 day from interview. But maybe they have so many applicants that its being delayed.

  • Registered Users Posts: 72 ✭✭beenhad

Yep, me too . Wonder what the delay is? Hopefully they do it properly and stop offering small conracts when you tell them you are available all year round! 🙄

Those short term contracts aren't great you are only in the job when you have to leave. That happened to me twice although on the second time it wasn't interesting they had me filing all the time

Did they cut the job short? Or did you stay during the duration of the contract?

They told me a 10 week contact at minimum so although not great it should give you some time to try and work out how you might get permeant.

And wonder they also say that OOM is not so important either because they may just hire you based on qualifications for projects that need something specialised

  • Registered Users Posts: 72 ✭✭beenhad

Oh God I'm on filing too! Torturous! Coming to the end of a14 week contract soon, so am hoping the timing will be perfect for when I finish in 2 weeks time. I've noticed that a lot of the men are getting a rolling contract and are on the PSC cards. On another note I was told that there will be a permanent campaign in Jun/July.

Congrats on completing the interview. So the oom ranking might not determine the sceduling of interviews... if the specialism is taken into account ?

Have no idea how they order the interviews,my OOM was quite high and I got an interview on the 3rd Feb. All I know that in the interview they did say they might pick people out despite OOM for particular projects as needed and that a lot of people don't show for an interview or fail the interview so your OOM could be reached quicker than you might think
