Agreed, zero complains about the service. They did increase mine to 110,I got onto them and let my feelings about it be known. I got a refund and was put back onto my original price plan.
Like you I have other medications to purchase,so get the entire 96 refunded to me,so not worth buying my own device

I need to get finger out and make a long term plan. Paying €110 a month with air liquide and only get some of it back through tax refund i think and small sum from health insurance. My monthly medical total would be around €140. I dont have any contact with them apart from a yearly service and to get yearly supplies.

Am thinking of doing the same, with cpapstore.eu too. Seems like crazy (2-2.5 times cost) prices involved locally. Were you happy with them, beerguts?

I only just got the machine setup but it is the exact same model and it was delivered with all the required items in a fairly sturdy shipping box.

The only thing that was a bit off putting was the power supply had a Euro power plug but they also sent an adapter with the machine and it works just fine. I might look in the future of sourcing an Irish power plug but i think this will work for a while.

I know a lot of people would say that you are losing the access to the app and the convenient ordering through it but I rarely ever looked at the data on the app but would review the information directly displayed on the machine. Also ordering spare filters and masks online is easy enough and I have set up the account with cpapstore.eu which send emails for offers so if a mask was on sake for my needs (F30) i would be able to buy it then and there and keep it as a spare.

That looks like it is for contractors (i.e. health workers) to get refunds for items they use in work, no idea why you would have been directed there.

The link that T-Bird provided is the correct one. You fill out the form and attach all the receipts from the month (i.e. the prescription claim forms from the pharmacy and the CPAP rental receipt) and they will refund you any amount over €114 from Nov20, €124 before that. The only pain is that you have to fill out the form for every month that you are claiming for.

That's the form I send in but they tell me there is a limit I can claim back for, for the machine. ResMed, who DPS directed me to tell me that's nonsense so I'm going to write to the Principal Officer - doubt it will get to him / her - and seek a refund for the shortfalls for the last 18 months.

Thanks for all the help everyone it's much appreciated.

What about customs/VAT charges? When you add them on top of the price is it still reasonable? (Not having a go, just wondering!)

Got the mask this morning .. cost me €75+16 for address pal €91 in total.

Cheapest I could see if for was 185 sterling .. granted it took 2 weeks to come

Having a look at UK too, where I think you can get access to app. Find I like app side, so UK looking like option, but only a month left. Like cpapstore too. Seem good, so really need to decide if app is that important. Reports also for specialist seem to be a factor.. Hmm. Thanks

Hi - just wondering for those who got one of these devices (or others), where purchased overseas, did you get the app working?

Seems like if they upload via phone network, then they may not work in Ireland. E.g. UK, or Europe - are they just configured for that country?

The Resmed seems fairly simple. Other than connecting SD card to laptop, maybe I should just stick to the console? (From reading here, seems like most end up with console only/mainly).

Resmed supply one free mask to me every year, I can also claim for a mask on the DPS once a year, so in essence I have masks for the year for free. You should also look into this.

Has anyone tried a chin support cushion like

    https://www.hope2sleep.co.uk/neck-cushion-for-chin-support-a-solution-for-cpap-and-snoring.html

I was diagnosed with OSA a few years ago which is being caused by my mouth falling open when I sleep on my back. I can breath perfectly on my back as long as my mouth is closed, so i figure I just need something to do that. I looked at chin straps online but the reviews seem rubbish.

Just been diagnosed with OSA- test showed 116 events per hour- has anyone here experienced as high and found CPAP effective? Would appreciate any tips for a beginner to the therapy. Happy to know why I’m so tired all the time and excited to hopefully see some improvement!

Mine was extremely high, I can't remember how high I just remember them commenting on it. They will probably have to give you quite a high pressure. A side effect for some is an awful case of wind but it's preferable to not sleeping properly.

Incidentally if anyone has any tips for the wind issue for those that are suffering from it I'd be interested to hear them for purely educational reasons.

    Thanks,

Wow, I am surprised that they can use the words "CPAP" and "sleep apnea device" in their advertising. For €9.99 I would say why not go for it, you're not going to be massively out of pocket if/when it turns out to be absolute garbage.

Personally I'd be looking for some basic safety information (like a brand name or safety mark) before I put a rechargeable electric pump on my face, no matter how small. Could end up with a nasty burn if it shorts out and goes on fire...

The example photos of people wearing them are photoshopped :D:D

Hi Long time lurker I've been on Cpap for 6 years same machine, I was wondering if I went for a new machine could the cost be off setted against the drug payment scheme?
    Many thanks in advance.

To the best of my knowledge it's only if you're renting the machine. Not great if you're not getting any other drugs..

I love the content of this thread. But just as a reminder. If you are contemplating any major changes. First contact your health care professional before doing so. Of course, most, if not all of you would do this. So I am probably just wasting a post.

So I've been on an Airsense 10 Cpap unit since the summer. Worked great to begin with but the noise out of it is unbearable now.
Changed mask, changed hose but the noise is still the same.
There was little to no noise to begin with but now its like a lawnmower beside the bed.

    Anyone ever encounter this?

I have the same unit, I've had a few times where it's much nosier than usual and it normally turns out to be a piece not fully connected - usually the humidifier is not 100% of the way in. The only other time I had issues with noise, I had washed the elbow joint (soaked it) and the little piece of material in the Quiet Air diffuser didn't dry for ages. The noise from it was intolerable while it was damp.

Is it the machine or the mask/hose that the noise is coming from? I presume the level your machine is set at didn't change at all? I notice an increase in noise when it ramps up to the prescribed level, but it's still fairly quiet.

Sorry I have not been on for ages, but i have been reading up on the posts and I see some people asking about CPAP supplies.

I bought my airsense 10 from http://www.cpapstore.eu/ after 9 years with the Breas i-sleep 20 and I have not looked back. For those of you looking for alternative mask suppliers to the Irish Car-tels, I have used https://www.dhgate.com/wholesale/search.do?act=search&dspm=&sus=&searchkey=cpap&catalog=#pusearch1812 for face masks and filters. The postage takes about a month, but the price is right and the items are flawless.

The only downside is that as per my EU bought machine ...... you will get no refund from the drugs payment scheme as they obviously don't like anyone shopping outside of their 'preferred' supplier list.

As an aside, for any one with a head cold or stuffed nose ....... I can recommend chopping up an onion and putting it on a saucer beside the air intake of your machine. The onion will clear your airways and you will get a nights sleep (OK it will stink out the room, but its a small price to pay). I have been doing this for the last six years and managed to fight off colds and flu. I have no idea regarding the dreaded Covid and certainly don't want to find out the hard way.... so stay safe everyone.

Hi all. I've had a cpap machine now for a couple of months, roughly. On the whole it's been a godsend. I had to move to the full face mask but I don't mind that.

However the last couple of nights seem to have gone astray. Either I did, or my wife (I can't blame her as it was probably me) changed the straps slightly and now I can't seem to find my sweet spot, I have high events per hour again, leakage and I seem to be taking it off without my conscious knowledge after 4 hours or so.
When I go to bed I adjust, run the mask seal test thing and everything seems fine so I don't know what to do to get it right again, does anyone have any advice?

I rent from reamed but I don't think there is much use contacting them, even when I got it because of covid they couldn't let me test it beforehand or show me how to fit it properly so it was trial and error in the first place.

I feel like I've been spoilt now as I have started to get used to a proper night's sleep and not feeling tired or falling asleep and I don't really want to go back to that.

    Thanks in advance

Hi, this has happened me also when I started off. Do you think it could be that the velcro just isn't as sticky as it used to be. Once I'd ruled everything else out that is what I came up with. I left it too long to replace the straps and it came to the point where I'd wake up and both velcro straps were flapping about. Once I got new headgear the problem went away.

Interesting, thanks. I might try to find a way to keep them in place tonight via another means to see if that helps.

It's worth a go but that was my first thinking. Even though they might stick on fine when you're settling down they may just not be keeping enough grip through the night. Good luck!

My sleep patterns change all the time, I found I would go through a few weeks of sleeping face down and wake up with the mask on my ear !! I am now convinced that its seasonal and that at certain times of the year my system seems to 'act up' or adjust before settling down again.

I used to laugh at people who talked about the moon and lunar phases until one of my friends was telling me that his brother had to be carefully watched during the full moons as he would go walk about in the house (as in full on sleep walking). Some months later, his brother was in hospital and got out of his bed and ended up found wandering in the car park. Now I pay a lot more attention to the changing of the seasons and how my sleep patterns change, I find that I often go through a sleep pattern change and then things settle down again until the next winter / summer change arrives. I am not say this is what happening with you, just maybe telling you not to panic and wait to see if things settle down again.

I wanted to thank you personally, while it wasn't dodgy Velcro I did find the problem, it was two fold. Actually it was one thing but I solved a second issue at the same time. The issue was I was just wearing it incorrectly. I never really got shown how to fit it properly and I was putting the mask (full face mask) on too low on my nose and that must have been irritating me and making my sleeping self rip it off. I found that out because I was googling the straps to check what you said and saw that.

Second issue I resolved was the red marks on my face. Turns out it was too tight, what felt right sat up wasn't laying down. I didn't realise it got tighter as you lay down. So thank you!

Question for all now but not sure anyone could answer it, when you cancel your subscription with resmed do still still want the stuff back that they can't reuse, like the mask and tube?

I think I'm going to buy from that cpap eu store and given I've only had the machine from resmed it'd be a bonus and a money saver if they only want the machine back and not the things they'd not be able to reuse.

Dear all... in light of the current pandemic don’t forget to sterilize your mask and hoses and water tray more often than normal. Daily is what I do it now. They a haven for infections... so stay ahead of the virus

    stay safe.

Glad you got sorted and I should have guessed you probably hadn't been shown how to wear it properly. With my headgear once I get it in a good position (straps wise) I mark the area so when I wash it I know where to place the straps again. And yes tightening the straps too tight is counterproductive though it's something I think we all do at the start.

I cancelled with Resmed last year. Machine and I think the humidifier went back to them- everything else such as mask, SD card. hose, headgear you keep as they are being used by you, and especially now with the pandemic. I was surprised they took the humidifier back to be honest.

PS do you have the OSCAR software? It's a free download and give very good details information on your sleep and CPAP. Way more than whats on the Resmed site. I find it useful.

Also if you're on Facebook a really helpful group is the hope2sleep private group. They get a lot of support from sleep doctors in the UK and some sleep nurses actively reply to queries or suggestions. Again, a very helpful resource. And there's no BS tolerated and it's well modded.
