I suspect the supply chains for beer are under pressure. Breweries are switching their output to bottles and cans and away from the draught they used to send to pubs. That must be putting a strain on the bottling and canning systems.

Bait and Switch is a common enough stunt in retail but production bottlenecks (pun intended) could be part of it too.

but why advertise special offers to draw people in if you are having supply problems? dosent make sense..

Londis advertising Guinness 0 0 cans, I’ve been to 3 different Londis stores and no sign of them.

I don't think that's back on the market yet since it's recall.

I think shops like Lidl and Aldi turn stock around really fast so they work to very tight delivery schedules. Stuff goes from the truck to the shelf and out the door. Any production or delivery problems hit them immediately.

There was rumours before Christmas that 6 packs of normal Guinness would be getting 2 free 00 cans as a marketing promotion. I guess that won't be happening with the special offer restrictions.

I would expect them to be all in the same shrink wrap so could be done.

Picked up the Belgian Gift set for 10 this morning in Lidl Celbridge, it's supposed to be 16 per their leaflet. Could have been a mistake but I think I'll grab another now just in case.

Also they had all on the shelves despite the deal not supposed to be starting til the 15th..

Balls .... saw it last night and didn't get it cos I thought that's a labeling error and it'll be €16 at the till.

You are 100% correct. An individual truck leaves the distribution centre with the contents for an individual store.
A few weeks ago the truck couldn’t get through flooding in Mallow and hence the store had none of the offers for that week.

Got the last of the Brewdog Pale Ale and Anchor Steam on clearance in Tesco Mallow.
    Piles of Hop House left.

How much was the anchor steam and pale ale?

How much was the anchor steam and pale ale?

€1.79 for the Anchor, €4.80 for the Pale Ale.

I'd say it's a legit price. They did similar with Bud and Carlsberg a few weeks ago.

Just back from local Dunnes, went in for weekly wonders, wandered in to off license more in hope than expectation and left 5 minutes later with trolley loaded with slabs of Rockshore at €25! Bud at €30, didn’t notice anything else!

I asked about Stella in the Tesco in Stillorgan yesterday and was told they don't stock it.

In LIDL today, the 6 bottle box is priced at €9.99 on the display and was €9.99 when put through the till. €1.66 a bottle good value.

Stella was regularly €24 (or maybe €25) for 24cans. They usually did not have trays/slabs, they were just on the shelf in mine and you would only get 24 at a time, its like they did not want it to sell. It seemed to go unnoticed as the cans were down low and I very often did manage to clear out the shelf.

The odd time they did have trays of it with others.

Well just back from Tesco and no luck.
Spoke to a staff member and he knew nothing.
Showed him the offer on my phone. He said he had never seen 500ml bottles.
Yet I can order it for delivery.

    To be fair, I didn't.
    Web site does not specify
Have ordered delivery and hope for the best, but knowing Tesco I am not too confident as these offers can disappear overnight.

Stella bottles in Nutgrove scanned at 2.55 although they may have been 660ml. Estrella bottles 660ml were reduced to 1.50 so I picked up a few of those

Had a couple of these before, they are 5%, if you are ok with Carlsberg in a can it's not a million miles away in taste, I'd say 6 cans of it would send me straight on through to the other side :D

Any slabs of Heineken for a good price anywhere ? I think Aldi were supposed to be doing it for €24 but it turned into a bit of bait and switch.

Anybody got any good crafty deals?

As far as I'm aware most breweries are €35-€45 for a 12 pack other than Torc who are €30 a case + €5 flat rate delivery but does anybody have anything better?

8 Degrees IPA's, I'd recommend the Seisuin, are 2.50 per can in tesco at the mo. 440mil can so 4 for a tenner will get you nicely on your merry way!

Annoying that these deals don't seem to be available in most tescos. Pilgrims @ 4 for a fiver is a steal. Has a lovely creamy ale, Kilkenny-eqsque character. Recommended.

Was talking to someone in the know the other day and they said that the reason why all the supermarkets are getting the glasses to hand out for free now is because the pubs are closed. Usually they would be given to the local pubs. My glasses press has never been as full! We've seen Guinness, Moretti, Carslberg & Jameson hand out some very nice ones lately. Wonder which one will be next?

8 cans of carling for €4.50? are you sure that's right? (56c a can)?

As much as I detest carling, acceptations to rules will have to be made ...

From experience, any multipack purchase of that drink would count towards the free glass if you get a sound cashier.
