Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    To get back to the inanity of the thread title....male baldness is a consequence of a genetic aberration passed on through the females of the bloodline. No medical or scientific studies have ever linked it to one's preference in economic modalities.

    The thread is just a weak excuse to have a rant people who have hurt the OPs feelings, they don't really believe that baldness causes socialism. They got upset and called it childish when someone insulted capitalists.

    No. Its a gene that makes the receptors in the hair follicle of men highly sensitive to testosterone.

    Their testosterone levels used to be thought to be high. But actually they are just normal but the receptors in that area are overly sensitive to the hormone due to the gene. It's genetics. Altering the testosterone levels won't do anything.

    Men with low testosterone levels can go bald also. The gene or several just makes the receptors hyper sensitive to any level of testosterone.

    Its nothing to do with the amount of testosterone circulating.

    They don't fully understand why the receptors do this ...but an enzyme is produced that turns testosterone into another substance that kills off hair follicles.

    But receptors on the face etc ...act differently. And so are unaffected.

    Its why testosterone as a hormone acts differently on diff parts of the body. The receptors have different levels of sensitivity and act differently etc.

    Its why altering testosterone levels has never worked. Its also why follicle grafts etc ...in my lay person's opinion will only work for a short time also until the hair follicles are killed in the same way.

    But people don't realize this about a hair graft because the gene starts killing off the follicle years before you actually get baldness. It makes the growing cycle shorter. But men don't realize because they cut their hair ages before the growing cycle of that hair stops and falls out.

    China has the least male baldness. They realized that chinese women can grow their hair really long quickly and have long growing cycles. Its harder to measure on men because of the tradition of shorts cuts on men. But the longer the growing cycle and the faster the hair grows the healthier the hair follicle is. Its thought that this is genetic.

    Yes it probably does make him better ..but you have to admit Simon Harris , Micheal Martin and Paul Murphy etc ...its a very very low bar.

    They were just three examples - the Dáil is full of people who've never had careers outside of politics or political activism. Bertie Ahern - briefly worked as an accounts clerk before entering politics. Brian Cowen - may have worked as a solicitor for a year or two before inheriting his dead dad's seat. Enda Kenny - spent four years working as a primary school teacher before inheriting his dead dad's seat. Albert Reynolds is the only one I can think of who had any kind of meaningful career before politics (dance halls and dog food) and I don't think he was any better (or worse) than any of the other Taoisigh.
