I’ll have to look back to see what happened just before but Villante ended up with his arm on the wrong side and sort of cross faced himself.

I'd love to see them get it on again after what I witnessed last night.

I have to admit that I underrated Hooker a bit. I thought he was a bit behind the top five in the division but he's clearly capable of taking on any of them.

Was that the first 5 round fight for hooker? Looked fantastic for 3 rounds but lost his edge in the last 2 and got dominated by the experience of poirier imo

Absolutely loved the fight. Hadn’t seen them at that level before, didn’t know poirier had such power in his punch,

If McGregor cut to that weight what are your thoughts of his chances if they fought as good as they did?

Dustin is much more experienced at that level. If he can avoid getting sucked in again, I could see him taking it close over the distance. But if it went exactly like the last, I wouldn't be shocked either.

While both were warriors and the blows was like a scripted rocky film. If it was in black and white with a bit of classical music it could have rivalled Raging Bull. However both left themselves wide open while moving forward and that is where McGregor could capitalise.

One thing that amazed me was how poirier couldn’t force a submission from some of the holds he had. I think I said at least 3 times it’s over and at one stage i thought hookers arm was going to snap. Fair play to hooker for getting out but you really should be finishing there in my very limited opinion.

One thing both showed was that they had solid chins. While some wobbles neither were close to being stopped or KO even after repeated blows. Saying that poirier admitted that it was lights out for a few seconds.

One thing that i wonder will we see more of is wives or girlfriends acting like a spare tool in the corner between rounds. Tapping an ice pack on the back of their fighter or fumbling for a water bottle. But it does save money.

As well as winning the fight Poirier also won best walk in song. What a legend walking in to a bit of James Brown.

I'd like to see it but he's still too slow and hittable for McGregor.

Yeah, as good as Poirier did in that fight his weaknesses were exposed. He has no defense on his feet, a real big hitter will always have an advantage if he can stay on his feet.

who tries to take your head off with every swing

alhassan record for a ww is phenomenal too, 10 wins all by ko in the first round, don't recall seeing that before
his opponent then has 8 kos from 9 wins, watched a few of his fights and based on that I think he's really up against it

I'd love to see him climb the ranking and fight someone like nate diaz some day, think he'll be a top ten guy before long though yet after beating
niko price in one round I did think he might get a top ten guy (geoff neal springs to mind)
