Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    FM20 has been announced.

No word on new features or exact release date yet but it has been confirmed as a launch title on Google Stadia.

Sounds like an interesting platform if it works as intended but it doesn't seem like you will be able to customise the game with logopacks etc and you can't play offline.

I might stick with Steam for now.

The biggest drawback is Google Stadia for me is the inability to use tools like Genie Scout. I'm an adult now and don't have time to be scouting for regens all day 😅

Would love an overhaul on international management

Seems very dull and boring nowadays on it

Interesting new features for 20. Club vision is a lot more detailed. I like the development centre bit for youth prospects. Contracts look more difficult though if you have to plan playing time every season.

I havent pulled the trigger myself so dont know what the exchange comes out at, but this should be a couple euro cheaper, saw it on reddit

My 1st recommendation is Mandragora. Italian midfielder he can be got for just under 20 million.

    Dictates the midfield for me

Aldi ??? you must have loads of money

I threw it on for a few hours last night with Leicester, spend all that time identifying targets and negotiating deals only for 3 out of the 4 players to come back and say they have no interest and won't discuss contracts.

Went for this, it worked out just over 31 euro. Key was instant and was playing the beta within 10 minutes.

My screen is supposed to be full screen but it's not really. The top and left are not aligned to my full screen. Anyone have similar issues?

Edit. Read on SI forums it's a known issue for laptop. Workaround is to change to windowed mode then change back

GPU for the beta is unreal around 85% and getting a 1 star computer performance. I'm only running Premier Division to League 2.

This is what I'm running in FM19 and getting a 4 star computer performance f0a780c901ac011b32fd96f1d9891456.png

Love the game but avoid it like the plague. It's a time vampire and I dont have much of that these days. Got a tablet version last year and deleted it a few days ago because I couldn't put it down.

Could be a bug that does seem strange , what CPU GPU are you running it on?

Well maybe correct for an i3 but depending on the GPU installed , I think it’s a bit off though in the rating mine is rated at 3 stars for FM 19 on an i7 9750 with a GTX 2060 GPU which isn’t right either

This is the first game in years where my teams don't continually lose despite dominating a match sending my blood pressure through the roof and pulling out my hair...so ya I like this years version!!

The worst bit about FM is the downloading of the facepacks and logopacks. Extracting the files is the worst part, taking ages

Game is ready and waiting for me, but it's all bland and faceless and logoless atm

I haven't been bothered to do logo/face packs since 14. But I said this year I'll go do it again. Got them downloaded and went to extract but it gave me an estimate of like 48 hours for just the face pack alone. Will skip this year :P

ive an i5 9300 with nvidia 1050 - had been running 19 on it - done a standard install and had a league 1 and 2 team for a few hourzs to gove it a go and the beta is running a lot faster than 19 did

I played hundreds of hours from 10-17 until I finally tried it when I had access to decent internet late in 17 and I don't know how you could go back after trying it

Annoyingly, the Man United badge is missing from the pack I downloaded

As a whole, facepacks/logos aren't going anywhere, you'll always be able to find a link to a torrent with instructions on reddit or elsewhere

I always assumed FM never bothered buying them because they know anyone who cares about them will find their ways to use them

The lack of faces and logos is why I put ~10 hours into the Switch version, once the novelty of FM on a tv wore off it got too annoying, and it's why I'm not going to give the Stadia version a go even if playing FM on a 50 inch 4k tv sounds amazing

I'm not sure whether the game is too easy or Liverpool are too good because I am absolutely walking the league. It's definitely not because of me because I usually rely on getting a tactic that works online.

Might start with a different team when the full game launches.

I hate to say it but I think it might be too easy also. I went from the vanarama to championship playoffs in 6 seasons with a team that's tipped for relegation at the start of every season. I'm delighted to actually be winning in one of these games for a change but going on 25 match unbeaten runs just isn't realistic with the team I have.

Have to admit, seeing people say it's so easy encourages me to buy it.

My main love of FM has always been scouting and buying players. I nearly see it as a DoF simulator, rather than a manager one. But I found the last few years that it was quite difficult, and so I'd spend hours scouting players, only to struggle with motivation in between transfer windows.

I'd actually quite appreciate a game where results come easier :P

2019 was the first time I encountered this really. Players not taking that next step to develop despite having 4-5 star potential and playing in the PL and not getting above 7th or so. Maybe there was a mix and they made it harder for the likes of Oldham to make the final step but there were just inexplicable runs of results season after season. 1 or 2 you can accept as it happens in real life but when the quality regens aren't showing up 8 years down the line but the top teams seem to be just as good it was a bit frustrating.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,108 ✭✭✭johnnysmack

I may have spoke too soon! My climb through the divisions has stalled in the championship for the moment at least. Last few seasons have all been lower mid table with several losing streaks. But that is probably accurate position for my current team.

Started with Cambridge United as I always do and got them from League 2 to the Championship in 2 years, back to back promotion.

Got head hunted by Spurs and I didn't do much from then on

I also think its easier then previous versions

Haven’t played this is years after religiously playing it for years! Mainly due to having a laptop that couldn’t support it but now I’ve a desktop too so I’m going to buy it today.

Probably a stupid question but is it better to buy the disk or purchase the download via steam or is there any difference at all?

    Thanks

Do you need the disc in while playing it? That would get annoying. Other than an internet connection that ain't great I can't see why you'd go for disc

You'll get instant keys from the likes of cdkeys or shopto, cheaper than directly through steam and I'd imagine cheaper than disc as well

Thanks for that, I see it’s €32 on cdkeys. Why is that? Is there a catch? Over €23 of a saving from the steam website.

I've bought the last three touch ones and very little difference between any of them. Gets repetitive fair quickly.

I played 2019 alottttttttt but already bored of 2020.

There's so many annoying things wrong with 2020 that you know won't be fixed, because there are some bugs in there from years ago that haven't been removed. Wide players still cannot square a ball. It wouldn't matter if they were on the byline and their 10 teammates were wide open at the penalty spot, they'd still shoot into the side netting. Despite what Miles Jacobsen might say, this is a bug. A player should not have to be trained for 6 months to square a football.

Players at lower levels this year cannot finish. Maybe it's the same at higher levels. I've scored 22 goals in 14 games so far this season, but I'd have at least 40 if it wasn't for the horrendous finishing. Most of the time they'll just smash it straight at the keeper when 1 v 1. I've seen others complain about this too.

There are other cosmetic things like regen faces or the hilariously bad animations in the 3D match engine that have been the same for YEARS. I don't particularly care about these things, but it's more evidence of SI's laziness and lack of effort. They own the entire market and have no competition, so why bother putting in the effort I suppose?

Jacobsen's trainwreck AMA on the FM subreddit a few years ago gave us all a decent insight into how they are at SI.

Jacobsen is a very funny character. He said in Facebook a few years back that Steam was the cheapest place to buy his game. I argued that this was not the case, a point which he contested. I replied with about a dozen places to buy it cheaper, with hyperlinks (e.g. one of the websites mentioned above) He went absolutely apesh*t, but it just shows how out of touch they are at SI these days.
