Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    I tend to close accounts and open new ones so I thought it was appropriate. Plus I like how a phoenix is reborn. And I'm almost 32 :p

    I'm into history and the guys people forget but who make big contributions. Bloody Bill was Bloody Bill Cunningham a soldier during the American war of Independence. He was initially a patriot then changed sides and became one of the most successfull Loyalists of the war. Controversial figure ..May or May not have committed a few war crimes...

    It was the aftermath of the most seismic economic crisis this country ever experienced. Everyone was emigrating. And whenever there is a big crisis, you have to think about the Greeks. Anyway, Byron wrote this poem named "The Isles of Greece"
    The tyrant of the Chersonese
    Was freedom's best and bravest friend;
    That tyrant was Miltiades!
    O! that the present hour would lend
    Another despot of the kind!
    Such chains as his were sure to bind.

    Isn't that clever? Tyranny and Freedom as friends.Those years were full of weird, Orwellian notions of Europe being a friend to this country whilst also dominating it.
    In the end, Byron concedes:
    "A tyrant; but our masters then
    Were still, at least, our countrymen"

    Anyway as much as I would like to continue with that story, I honestly just came across my username on The Chase.

    It was a name some kids in my class in school called me behind my back because of the way I spoke when asked to read aloud (everybody else would speed read to get through it), a friend told me and i thought it actually sounded a bit cool!

    It's a play on evolution. Humans did not evolve from monkeys. Humans are more closely related to modern apes than to monkeys, but we didn't evolve from apes, either. Humans share a common ancestor with modern African apes, like gorillas and chimpanzees. Scientists believe this common ancestor existed 5 to 8 million years ago. Shortly thereafter, the species diverged into two separate lineages. One of these lineages ultimately evolved into gorillas and chimps, and the other evolved into early human ancestors called hominids.

    When thinking of a username for a website - all the good names were taken. I was sitting in my kitchen trying to think of a username and I saw my German shepherd Cooper, looking at me. He was feeling sorry for himself as he was just back from the vet who had given him something to make him vomit as he had eaten a sock. Coopersock became the username I generally use since that day :D

    Liverpool scored goals in both the 54th and 56th minutes in the two greatest games I've seen them play ie the 2005 CL final and the 2019 CL Semi Final Vs Barcelona.
