For anyone interested in relocating to Germany this is a very good opportunity, I know the person who is looking after the recruitment and there is a good package on offer - CV's should be sent to careers@vertek.ie:

Exciting Graduate Engineering Opportunity in Lodige Germany
Lodige Industries is a privately held medium sized Mittlestand company active in the international marketplace for airport materials handling systems, heavy duty industrial elevators and associated specialist capital equipment. They are located in Warburg - North Rhine Wesphalia - about 2 hours from Dusseldorf Airport. They employ more than 650 people and have annual revenues in excess of €100m.

As background the Mittelstand is the primary and preferred organisational model of successful German industrial companies.Almost always in family ownership they collectively employ 70 % of the 42m. German workforce and still form the core of it's world class engineering excellence, continued manufacturing capacity and export led market economy.Lodige Industries has been such a company for more than half a century and they have been active in the Irish market for most of that time having made some very important installations here: Intel, Wyeth Medica, Bristol Myers Squibb, National Gallery etc.

The position would ideally suit a graduate engineer with 1-2 years experience. With the intent that the proposed, initial 12 month contract could roll over for a second year and then - dependent on performance - a permanent placement
may be available in a Lodige company in Ireland, Europe, the Middle East or the Far East etc. By definition the long term career prospects are very good as the German marketplace for competent engineers is almost without recognisable limit.

The chosen candidate will have,as a minimum,a good 2.1 primary degree from a recognised 3rd. level technology institute with a bias towards electrical engineering and 1 or 2 years closely related work experience would also be distinct advantage. Of equal importance he/she must clearly demonstrate an appreciation of how engineering theory can be translated into great products and understand also that the litmus test of truly innovative design is commercial marketplace success and acceptability - think Apple iPhone and iPad.The historic success of the German Mittlestand may, more than any other single factor, relate to their ability to seamlessly integrate their technical and commercial strengths and capacities.

To reflect the long term importance of this position Lodige will propose an attractive remuneration package to the successful candidate tailored to reflect individual circumstances and aspirations. And whilst this position will suit only people who can readily adapt and become productive quickly Lodige will assist with finding accommodation and with the other small set up details that pertain to such a move.In this regard a basic/working knowledge of German would be an advantage and otherwise a willingness to acquire it quickly once in situ in Warburg will be a definite and unavoidable requirement.

Candidates are, of course, free to make their case for inclusion on our short list using criteria that parallel the requirements given here. For example genuine familiarity with software design packages such as AutoCad would be a clear mutual benefit.

We will consider, with the requisite care and attention, all candidates who meet or exceed all the criteria indicated above and who can demonstrate a passion to be involved in the design, manufacture and application of great industrial products.
On the contrary all candidates chosen for interview can expect a rigorous selection process and they must be able to sustain under close examination their entire rationale for seeking this position.Clarity and attention to detail are required
    from both parties.

In the event that this opportunity is of real interest to you please send your cv and support documentation by email in the first instance to: careers@vertek.ie. Please also be aware that all applications will be properly and promptly acknowledged and that this broad job description will form form the sole basis for any discussions about this position.

I wonder would they be looking for someone with 20 or even 30 years experience by the time they interview you. It might even be time to retire by the time you get the necessary experience. I guess now that there are no jobs in civil engineering they can ask for what they like.
