Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Either would be fine tbh - most of the trains to Watford go from Euston, which doesn't have good airport connections but is 400m from Kings Cross-St Pancras which has connections to both. Thetrainline is showing similar journey times for both.

    Stansted Express to Tottenham Hale, or get one of the buses (National Express etc) to Stratford and work from there.

    I sign up for all those deals like grab one, living social etc before a trip to london etc and see what offers they have. Things like afternoon tea, tours etc hotel breaks are always on offer :)

    Stansted express seem to have come up with pre-booked cheaper tickets so competition seems to be working.

    If you are travelling out of London by train a sail rail ticket is often far cheaper & it is open.

    Example : London to Liverpool is £104.00 - Cheapest standard single.
    Sail Rail is London to Dublin is £38 and you can travel on any train.
    Buy a ticket online from Crewe to Liverpool (£9.20) and rather than get off at Crewe, stay on the train.
    And if by chance you meet someone going on to the ferry, sell them your ticket for a tenner too!

    Really nice tips OP, thanks. Also, you vcan get 2 for 1 tickets to M Tussauds etc if you have a Mastercard through their priceless london offers. You can get them if you have any Mastercard, I use a weswap.com currency card which works well and also has good rates on sterling too.

    Get the heck out of the airport! Really. Airport fares for train or specialist busses are always a rip off. HOWEVER remember that all airports have an ample staff who need to use public transport to go too and from work. So you need to use Google Maps to find out the nearest rail line or bus depot to the airport that in not in the airport.

    Case in point. A single from Stanstead Airport to London Euston (priced a few minutes ago) was 24 quid. The same trip from Stanstead Mountfitchet station (a 2.6 mile walk from the airport IF you take the courtesy bus to the Hilton hotel) is 15 quid.

    Beauvais trainstation is 5 KM from beauvais airport and a ticket to any paris station is about 14 quid versus 13 on the swineair bus PLUS the cost of the paris metro.

    This is not for all ... but if you are fit and sharp you can save.

    You're coming into the wrong central London station there - trains from Stansted and that general area go into Liverpool Street.

    £6 for a bus? Hope you're not talking about Easybus would never set foot on one of those! Trains can actually be as low as £6 on the weekend..while safer and more reliable.

    have you read the previous comment, the poster suggested walking 2.6 miles to a train station to save a few pound on the train i mearly suggested buses offer good value . Easybus, National Express , Terravison all offer routes into the city for less than £10 which in my eyes is very good value.

    Going over this weekend with my girlfriend and child 7.

    Will be getting a train from Welwyn Garden City to London Blackfriars. Should I purchase the travelcard before or when I get over there?

    Has anyone ever used the London Pass, https://londonpass.com/london-pass-prices.php?rm=12

    Would they recommend this? As oppose to the 2for1.. we will be paying for 1 Adult and 1 Kid everytime (say 6 attractions). On top of that train tickets are £55 return.

    The London Passes with Travel will cost us £231 all in!

    Is that too expensive or could we attend 6 attractions in under £180 for the 3 of us?

    Looks like Terravision have been dumped out of Stansted, or at least are operating, but from 2 kilometres from the terminal and the only way to get there is via its competition national express !!

    Anyone got any updated on this situation, they are still taking bookings but it seems like they are only going to/from Kings Cross?

    Terravision are hoping for a similar result in the High Court to the Arriva-v-Luton case so I wouldn't expect any developments until the case has been heard possibly later this year. They lost the tender in 2014 not sure how they managed to keep access to the terminal until October 2015, the companies that won the tender must have been livid I'm sure they would have forked out a couple of million in that time.
