Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What hype? It's a group of DJs that run a clubnight in Dublin called Mother. They play almost every year at B&S.

I hear them mentioned a lot thought it was a live show/original music

    Good weekend.

Approx 120bpm, male vocals like prince and dr alban its my life. Does that ring any bells with anyone?? It was played multiple times throughout the weekend. Much appreciated whoever gets!

Wasn't there this year so this is a complete guess but does have a Prince type vibe to it!

    Good weekend.
Main thing first, a tune ID.

Pretty sure I heard this played in a good few places but first time at reckless in love.

    As for festival itself:
Think I'm too old for it.

Got to see plenty of reckless in love and not much else.

I liked how it was less crowded but felt sorry for festival itself and traders.

They could have not opened so many fields and maybe squeezed the atmosphere in a bit.
Ive been every year since 2013 and never seen it so empty looking.

My tent got ransacked one of the nights but I had nothing worth taking. Bags were emptied and everything thrown around the place. This never happened before. That was probably the only bad thing. That and only 2 hours sleep on the monday morning. Long week so it was!

I wasn't there this year either so completely guessing the tune but I wonder could this have been it, I have definitely heard Kellyanne Byrne and Mother DJs play it before.

DJ Koze's Pick Up was played to death last summer. probably not it though based on the male vocals description.
    maybe Camelphat - Be Someone?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 909 ✭✭✭keithkk16

Thanks. That's not it. Along those lines, but it was a newer track and cheesier vocals.

Maybe slightly like talking heads this must be the place too.

It got played to death whatever it was.

Can you remember any lyrics from it? Could be a new remix of an oldie

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,641 ✭✭✭✭bodhrandude

Its hard to believe it was only a week ago I was wrapping up the tent to come home, I hope some of you enjoyed the review anyways, apart from the odd absinthe review I've been out of action since the last Picnic review.

To anyone that cares about the tune ID i asked for.
Its TIGA - you gonna want me.

    https://youtu.be/CCwgUkaDSxc

    Haha a classic!

Does anyone know when early bird tickets come out? I never get any emails from B&S anymore

Unlikely we'll hear anything until after they're done with their EP weekend.

I bought my 2019 tickets the week immediately after the 2018 festival though, so if they are selling then for next year, they're much later than usual. I fear ATN has killed them off as a standalone though.

They should hook up with The Beatyard (who have lost their Dun Laoghaire spot) and form a mega-independent festival on the same weekend and site. Bodytonic ran a festival called Garden Party in Ballinlough for a couple years too!

Hopefully the absence of any statement from them that they are not holding it next year is because they have seen the luke warm reaction to ATN this year, and are weighing up whether they can attract people back next year.

Hopefully if they can get a few good headliners they will be back in business in 2020!

I think Beatyard are going to come back anyway, they just don't know where. It would be great if Beatyard was on a different weekend, maybe earlier in the year!

Body & Soul @ Electric Picnic 2019 was epic. Thanks for bringing all of yourselves to the party. We're already excited to see you again Ballinlough Castle in June 2020 - MIND ONE ANOTHER

Sounds like they will be back next year!

I sent them a message on FB looking for information on volunteering there next year but haven't heard back from them yet. They are probably quiet enough this time of year though?

Just pmed you some details there endainoz, also look at Body & Soul website and the get involved section, there should be a volunteering section as well as other types of work offered in that section.

Body and soul is a gem of a festival lads! No matter who's playing, great layout, great crowd , plenty food stalls, toilets etc, after keeping an eye on the 'all together now' thread I'm feeling lucky to have been going to body and soul the last few years

While I do love BnS (been 8 years running), I find the ATN hating way overblown. While they did have some serious issues, they got lots of stuff right too. Some amazing gigs at it with cracking atmosphere (Kojaque, Good Bad Queen). The compact layout made getting around it super easy too

God help the poor bands booked to play the Body and Soul main stage - often a bit of a ghost town... doesn’t stop me having a great weekend though

I hope to enjoy both again next year.

Fair point, Grudgehugger. Most of us in these threads are just music lovers and attendees of multiple festivals. No reason for the recent trend of complimenting one festival by knocking another. They all have their problems.

They got back to me regarding volunteering and mentioned early birds tickets will go on sale in October. Should hear something very soon!

Their FB page says theyll be back in June 2020 and they replied to my question that they wouldn't be clashing with Glasto so I'm guessing it'll be on 19th to 21st June.

They must be reading this thread, they just updated their cover photo on Facebook saying 2020 early birds coming soon.

I think they always pick the solstice weekend or the first weekend thereafter, which is the 21st June. Glastonbury I think pick the last full weekend in June, which is why in 2017 they clashed as the solstice was on the wednesday and the last day of June was a friday.

I didn't go this year but there are two things that would attract me back: better lineups or cheaper tickets. Right now it is kind of floating around the middle, the lineup is never anything that makes you say "oh let's buy a ticket for that!" and the price is too expensive to buy just on a whim because it's a fun weekend.

It's an undeniably good weekend and good festival IMO but not necessarily great value for money compared to other festivals.

If it keeps you whiny lot away from a great festival, I hope they change nothing ;)

You both make fair points. The quality of the lineup has gonr down. But its stilla great fun festival. Based purely on 2019 performance ( caveats - your mileage may vary, subjective opinion) its way less packed than ATN and EP

Anyone got any idea of what price early birds will be? I don't remember seeing anything about them last year.

Trust me, take a peek at any other festival thread - the lineup will never be good enough for Boards posters.

That is not a good argument at all

I think he's trying to say it's impossible to keep everyone happy. Personally I'm never too familiar with the lineup for body and soul, but I like being forced to learn about new music too. It's one of the most exciting things about seeing a lineup for the first time and getting into some act you would have otherwise never heard of.

I've **** all to do with the running of the festival, so it's not up to me to make good arguments! I'm just saying yis are a moany bunch and it's never going to be possible to suit everyone.

Let's see what they announce for this year before freaking out about their lineup or ticket prices!

Ah the quality of the line up has been in decline over the years. Would be very surprising to see any improvement this year, especially if people are still buying tickets.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,641 ✭✭✭✭bodhrandude

I thought Kruder & Dorfmeister was a class headliner and only for Modeselektor's technical hitches they still put on a pretty good set, the Blaze were reasonable too and some of the acts in the Midnight Circus and the Reckless in Love were brilliant too.

The line up was poor last year and the attendance showed it. It was still a good festival but its head in the sand stuff to just call people moaners.

Founded or not, you're still moaning! So much negativity on this forum, it'd be nice for some positive outlook once in a while. Let them announce what they've got planned before you start predicting the end of the world.

So presale are €165 and that will jump to €195 once those sell out?
I'm weighing it up at the moment.

So got an early bird ticket along with the group I went with last year. Looking forward to 2020. I really enjoyed 2019, one of my favourite festivals in recent years.

I also got that and its a little annoying. 65*3 is 195 so youre not saving a whole pile and its clearly in their business interests to offer installment plans to customers. Why describe it as a secret, time limited exclusive offer?

Around the time of the launch, sometime in mid to late February or even early March.

I see body and soul are stepping away from E. P to focus on their own festival. This can only be good for body and soulers 2020 on on hopefully.
