Well, my system is on now for exactly 1 year, and here is what it is reporting

A 5.85kwp system with a 5kwh battery and eddi diverter. I used the battery for night rate charging over the winter months, and now am back again to to purely solar pv charging.

    So 12 month figures show

    5.6Mwh produced
    6.6Mwh consumed
    2.2 Mwh imported
    1.2Mwh exported

    Battery throughout 4.1Mwh

7kWh battery, constant monitoring/projecting and trying to use as much as possible during sunny periods helps a lot.
Still thinking of bumping up the battery to 10kWh

193.4KWh / 31 days in march = 6.24 KWh per day, divided by 2.6KWh battery capacity = 2.4 full cycles per day.

How are you managing to do 2.4 full cycles per day on the battery?

Depends - if you are managing that many cycles just from sunshine, it might mean that your charge/discharge rate (in amps) is relatively high, so the battery will wear out faster.
Perhaps you are doing an overnight cycle, charging from night rate, and discharging in the morning?
Perhaps you have an immersion diverter, that is sucking from the battery instead of just using excess juice from the panels?

I have no idea....sorry I think I have Mode 2 set on my system:

This mode designed to balance the use of PV during the day and battery to supplement when the PV is insufficient. The aim is to be grid neutral and priorities the home load from any source and uses the grid as a last resort.
This mode does not use supplemental AC charging overnight.

I have the same as inverter, mode 2 is when the battery charges by solar only and discharges on demand.

Yeah, but it's battery throughput which means charged and discharged, so a single 2.6 cycling once would be 5.2kwh throughput?

With system that size and a small battery it is possible to do multiple cycles. I checked my charge and it was 143.7kWh in March which makes 4.6kWh a day and that is 0.65 cycles on 7kWh battery. It would probably do full cycle if I did not turn on heavy users in the morning. On good day I have 50% charge at 9am.
I would say the battery is too small for this system it may not last with this usage.

I had mine in mode 3 until the hour went forward last week, and I now have it in mode 2.

Mode 3 made sense for winter months as I have night rate electricity, so the battery was charged at night rate, and discharged then once day rate kicked in an no pv available.

Mode 2, pretty much turns off AC charging completely, which makes sense in the longer days we are having now.

800l capacity, the water is coming in at about 10C and you want to heat it to about 40C?

    This uses 4.2 * 800 * (40-10) / 3600 = 28kWh or a bit over €2 on the night rate (this is roughly consistent with your assertion it would take about 15 hours at 2C per hour, so 15 * 2.2 = 33kWh)

Not that bad really, where do I get one? :pac:

No, it would be a constant alright. See my calculations to back that up.

It's a bit like heating your water with the immersion, it would be on full blast until you either switch it off, or it reaches the set temp. You are probably thinking of an oven, that kicks in for a while and then switches off for a while.
