    we got less than 20 acres here and bought in 10 twelve week old heifers calves last year and reared them.
    Sold them but when you add up the cost of hay/silage and nuts everyday and vet fees there little or no money in them,

    Anyone else done this but moved on to something else where there a better profit in

    Most of the profit in farming comes from subsidies now, the best you'll do is ''keep the money together''
    Sheep would be more profitable but take a lot more care

    you probably need a bit of knowledge about sheep and what to look out for too

    Yep, zero money in that, only way to make a tiny bit is if you have winter grazing.
    Lambing sheep has a small profit, but there is a good bit of looking after them.
    Sorry am not much help!

    You either need to farm the subsidy payments or add value to the product - there's no money to be made from your average smallholding.

    True, would like to make a good go of it but there is no money in cattle on a small holding so look at other options
