I don't remember ever being falsely accused of something except in retaliation for making a complaint and basically whistleblowing on someone and I can't put any details here. But a friend once made a silly joke on FB and soon had a pack of women friends accusing her of child abuse and discussing whether to call social services on her, and I think one of them did call them. It was a joke about her very hyper and honestly a bit destructive teenage son. She just said something flippant about tying his hands behind his back.

I was accused of cheating because my gf at the time had caught me cheating.....IN A DREAM.

Nothing serious, but being accused in the wrong makes me very very angry.

I find that people who have done wrong in their lives but reform are more likely to be accused in the wrong than people who are "goodie two shoes." Having previous form makes someone much more likely to be wrongly accused of something.

Smeared as a bullying psychopath by my own brother.

Owed a few thousand euro from my younger brother for his wedding reception.
It took 3 years to get repaid. It was a private agreement between us, his wife didn't know.
Eventually, after he was named and shamed, he had a cheque ready for me.
He tried to weasel out of repaying but I wasn't having any of it.

I showed up at his house and within 10 minutes his wife and her parents showed up giving me abuse and insults.
About how I am a bully who is harrassing them, a scumbag etc etc.

They were recording me on a camera phone, baiting me into a reaction or to throw a punch. My wife was insulted to that effect.
Vile, disgusting names from dangerous, pathetic people.

I wasn't budging. Give me the money and I'm gone kind of thing.

So my brother, who I was always close to says menacingly, "We know all about you, the kind you are!"
I ask him what he means by that. "You're a psycho, everyone knows it, I've told everyone about you"

    I ask him to explain.

"Remember the night after our wedding? You were picking a fight with some young fella and I had to hold you back. Everyone knows that. I've warned people about you. They don't know you as well as I do."

Thing is it was a lie. It was twisted around to smear me, my reputation and my credibility.
In fact, it was him who was looking for a fight, and I was the one who had to hold him back.
His father in law had said something smart to a student who brushed past him as he made his way through the crowded pub, they squared up to each other and my brother lost the plot and squared up to the student, shouting and roaring that....."if you fcking mess with him, you fcking mess with me!". I grabbed him and pulled him away and told him to calm the hell down.

So now this was all projected onto me, 3 years after the fact. I was now the psycho, who randomly looked for fights.
To prove this, seeing as I was there to get paid back, after 3 years waiting, he, his toxic wife and her parents, were now riling me up as best they could to provoke a reaction from me thus proving that I am indeed a bully, a psychopath and a scumbag. As I mentioned, I wasn't budging, I knew what they were doing.

In the end, he simply threw the cheque at my feet in disgust after he was put in his place. And we haven't spoken since nor will I ever speak to the prick again.

When I was 15 or 16 and my friend fell off his bike into a fountain and to save face, told everyone I pushed him in.

I don't think I ever laughed as hard before or since!

But what annoyed me afterwards was a girl who claimed to have witnessed it (even though she didn't) backed him up!

    Still makes me laugh though!

This is sort of true, I was guilty (hands up) of being gay. I was trying to reform myself and had taken a place on a full time course in an effort to straighten my life out, literally. There were a couple of people in my class however who didn't want me to forget and one in particular who I had rejected previously. (she was bi, had a lot of mental health issues and had a bf and I had no interest in getting involved, I did however do my best to help her out when she needed it)
I was being bullied and sat down with my tutor one day and tried explaining the situation, which in hindsight only led to deepening things. When half the class failed their first exam, I was subject to their anger because I had passed and many of them believed it was because I had "dissed" them to the tutor. I stopped communicating and became removed but resolved to get my qualification and once the opportunity arose for me to get the hell out of there I ran, using the internship as my out.
I was only in my placement a couple of weeks when the stuff kicked off there too, given that it was a hospital a number of those people were attending clinics and on one occasion they actually contacted my place of work and asked for me to be removed prior to their attending. They then went off for lunch with the person I was working with, and following this I was subject to rumour, whispers and scrutiny.

Following the stuff that happened there, which I posted about previously one of the girls (the one I had rejected) was involved in an accident in which her daughter was killed. These were people who called me everything from a child abuser to a thief. Trying to resolve the psychological issues as a result of all this has near cost me my life and forgiving them not an easy thing to do. I am getting there though.

Was accused of cracking off flares at football that sparks burned a kids jacket and left her distressed. Even though there was CCTV in the stadium and I knew I had lots of witnesses that would clear me. The treats of court cases against me and solicitor letters caused a few weeks of restless nights.

When I lived in England in the 80's I had the idea to copy porno VHS tapes I bought in Amsterdam and advertise in local newspapers and sell them door to door. Basically BJ's and shagging videos. Sold thousands and made thousands of pounds as well.

One day at about 6.00 am there was a loud banging on my door and the UK Customs threatening to kick the door in. They accused me of importing obscene material.

Went to Crown Court. The judge threw out the case as 'Not in the public interest'.

I think the fact that police and councillors were among my customers might have had some influence on the judge.

A bit of a long one and I reckon some ex co workers who use boards will know who I am but I don't care :)

I used to work in a large call centre and as you can imagine there was a good bit of turn over new staff etc and even worse was the amount of people fancying each other :pac:

I got to know this newbie and we hit it off even though she had a bf but it was never really anything other than slight flirting as I like another girl....problem was so did another lad and he was a bit more sneaky and malicious.

Few weeks have passed I'm still friendly with the newbie girl and the xmas party is on the 23rd so we're all geared up for this and as usual we drink a lot. An eventful night follows with a bit of a arguement with snake lad but nothing serious he made the right decision and backed away before it got worse.

Few weeks later newbie girl is blanking me and I've no idea why...until I walk into work and the manager pulls me aside hands me a sheet with accusations from a married supervisor that I told newbie girl we were sleeping together and hooking up in the work building! Swapping pics etc! As you can imagine my head was spinning trying to figure out wtf was going on.

In the investigation I was told the details, newbie told management the reason I was in her hotel room was because I helped her bring boxes back there, I said why the fcuk would we have boxes at our party! Newbie girl has used a story I was telling her about a woman I'll call J I was texting as part of this so had to sit there and tell management the gory details :o I gave them her number to ask her to back me up which she did, they checked my phone to see if I had supervisors number which I didnt, I printed off my phone records to show I was texting and ringing newbie and the J and had asked security in the hotel to provide CCTV of the night (they only had cameras in the lobby :( ) to prove there was no boxes which would have shown newbie to be the liar she was. I had a 2 year old to look after and sick parents to deal with as well so needed this job to pay child support/rent so this pissed a lot of co workers off and a lot of them wanted to back me up.

In the end it was decided that there wasn't enough proof to prove one of us was a liar and it was put to an end there and then......the reason she done this? Snake lad told one of newbies paranoid coke head friends I was slagging them off behind their backs, newbie and coke head came up with a plan to make the office hate me but it backfired when fat head gossiper told the supervisor, I found all this out after I left, I actually get on quite well with snake lad now who I'm renaming alright lad :D Coke head tried being friends with me again but I blocked her on fb etc, newbie I cant be bothered with ever and turns out she started pulling fake sickies after/ she also sued her old job for bullying so can only imagine that was probably waffles too.....Oh and I sorta got revenge by stopping her getting another job elsewhere ;)

Sorry for the long post :o and for anyone who knows me......Hey :p:pac:

Never been accused of anything too serious (Well in the wrong anyway:D)

But I do have a slightly amusing one. Out at a work do in town, crowded bar and my mate asks me to hold his pint while he goes to the loo, so I'm standing there with a pint in both hands when the girl in front (stranger) turns around, gives me the evil eyes and says "get your fúcking hands off me" slightly bemused I show her my hands with pints in each and say I don't know what you're talking about. My mate comes back I hand him his drink and forget about it, 2 minutes later I'm being frog marched out of the bar in front of everyone by some 7 foot Estonian special forces type protesting my innocence.

Next day in work I'm telling a colleague what happened and he starts laughing - "oh yea that was me, I pinched her arse, I was going to tell her it was me, but I didn't think she'd see the funny side!"

Was accused of being aggressive with a colleague and ballsing up something on an account by nasty witch at a previous job. When I asked her to prove it with evidence she got defensive and wouldn't provide anything.

Lying to land me in it as she didn't like the fact I use to like to take the piss.

A friend of mine and I worked in a supermarket the summer I was 19.

One day she was off and my manager said to me that my friend had some tax due back to her (around €150, I think) and asked whether I wanted to tell her or head up to pay roll and get it to give to her. I paused for a moment, then said I'd get it for her. Not sure why when she was back in the next day. That was my fatal error. Such naivety.

Went up to payroll where there was waiting area separated you from payroll with a door with a keypad that only certain people knew, and I certainly wasn't one of them. Someone from payroll came out and I asked about the tax money. They went searching and came out to me to say that they couldn't find the money at the time so to come back. I just texted my friend to tell her and forgot about it. She could collect the refund herself the next day, I thought.

A few days later, my friend told me that they had given the money to me. I was like "Errr, nope" and told her what happened. I should point out two things at this point. In the payroll waiting area, there is CCTV and also at this time, we were paid by an actual cheque and when you got your cheque, you signed for it in a book in the waiting area. So my signature would have been there that week due to picking up my cheque.

Anyway, my friend investigated further. My manger came barrelling over to me at the end of the day and asked why I hadn't given my friend her refund cheque. I told her what happened. She said "You signed for it!, I saw your signature!" And I was just totally shocked. I was a callow 19 year old who didn't stick up for myself like I should have. My friend thankfully believed me for which I am forever grateful but it is utterly crap to be accused of stealing and not be believed. I don't know why I didn't stick up for myself more.

Firstly, CCTV would have shown me going there, talking to payroll and then leaving without being handed anything. Secondly, if there was a signature by me from that week, it was from my picking up my paycheque. Why did I not ask to see the CCTV footage to corroborate what happened? Why did I not ask to see the signature book to show that there was only one signature by me that week and to see if someone else forged my signature? 19 year old me didn't stick up for myself adequately but 33 year old me would! I left the job a few months later. My friend worked there for a few years more and told me that a few of the management still said I did it. :(

Now I still wonder, who exactly DID take the money? I have always suspected my manager. She was all over accusing me and had access to the secure payroll room, and I wonder why she even told me about the tax refund. It really had nothing to do with me at all. Why not tell my friend when she was back in work?

The whole thing makes me upset to this day. Having your good name dragged through the mud is the worst and it troubles me that someone was happy to do that to me. Plus my friend was a student and to a student, €150 is a lot of money. She missed out too because of someone's dishonesty. I couldn't put that job down as a reference either. I couldn't wait to get enough jobs behind me afterwards to not have to include a reference from there. It doesn't matter any more, it's long enough in the past for it to no longer have any effect on my life but it is still absolutely gut-wrenching when I think about it. My friend and I drifted apart as often happens but I wonder does she ever wonder if I did it?

I know and the more I think about it, the more I realise that they had just decided I did it due to circumstance. I was only there four months at the time, within the probationary period. Surely if they had known FOR SURE that I had done it, they would have fired me? It seems very clear to me now that they hadn't a shred of proof. And someone stole that money and got away with it, it didn't just cha cha out of the payroll office by itself.

Luckily this was during the boom and it was easy to find another job the next summer so I was able to put it behind me, but it's the principle of it.

And how sickening for my friend to lose out on her tax refund? That would pay for a few nights out or a few weeks of groceries, a not inconsiderable thing for a student. To put it in context, she would have to work 20 or so hours to earn the money she lost out on.

The worst thing when I told friends and family was that you could see they mostly believed me but that there was a kernel of doubt in their mind. "What if she did take it?" Gutting. I'm very annoyed at myself for not proving my innocence. I guess it taught me some tough lessons.

Let me take a wild guess and say that this was in a Dunnes Stores.

Supermarket - Students - Asshole Managers

    Dunnes Stores, definitely.

Actually, no! Another disliked supermarket chain. ;) Where the management and slight superiors were all uniformly awful. The worst were my till supervisors. Just slightly senior, power-tripping bitches, all of them. It was a demoralising work atmosphere. I stuck with it for six months because I didn't want to be a quitter.

Call centres are some of the most back stabbing environments ever created, amazing the ****e that goes in in them all to climb the greasy ladder.

When I was 15 or 16 and my friend fell off his bike into a fountain and to save face, told everyone I pushed him in.

I don't think I ever laughed as hard before or since!

But what annoy Sed me afterwards was a girl who claimed to have witnessed it (even though she didn't) backed him up!

    Still makes me laugh though!

Haha. I got bitten by a squirrel in the Phoenix Park. Went to an ice-cream van to get tissues for all the bleeding, and pointed out my friend and said that she had bitten me. She got roared out of it. I must remind her...
