Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.
Hi there,

Is referring to a Snes as a Jap Snes discriminatory now?
A US, NTSC, PAL, Asian or PAL is fine but "Jap" is discriminatory because... it's short for Japanese?
Last people to use "Jap" in a derogatory manner were veterans of WWII, no?

    I was just kidding!

I never understood how its discriminatory since it just shortens the word!

I think pewdiepie took too many rides on the tunnel of prejudice
    lately!

The Japanese lads on Ebay tend to use JP to denote region. I figure if they didn't mind Jap they'd stick it in as well cos tags.

Hmm, I'll keep it in mind.
I'm certainly not so attached to it as a turn of phrase, but then... when discussing the pleasures of game importing at work, could happen some day, do I use "Jap" in conversation to denote the region of my copy of Einhander or jaypee.
I ask because to many of my clients jaypee is shorthand for a John Player Blue....

It's got a negative connotation because as a term it was used heavily in war time propaganda.

I get that this was a thing once, I just didn't know it remained a derogatory term.
But, if it's offensive, I won't use it any more.

I use it unashamedly all the time and will continue to do so :pac:

(When referring to imports of course and not people!)

Yeah, well I figured the same.
A jap Snes or Jap Megadrive never seemed out of place here.
I would not use it to describe an individual, but describing a device seemed to be the norm, on this forum at least.
Doesn't seem terribly uncommon on ebay either, though they do seem to be EU sellers in the main.....

They've a nice selection of Japanese Famicom/Super Famicom/Md games in RAGE, not out on the shelf but available to have a root through if you ask.
Nearly bought Ghosts'n Goblins for the NTSC NES while I was there, but €29.99 was a little steep.

TAF pin on donedeal, though I'm sure someone has already been in contact. If room for negotiation, could be a reasonable price if the condition is right.

Would be somewhat wary given how often ones like this are listed on sites using pics from other sales or listings (I see this one has a dollar coin insert from the pic, but maybe I'm just too suspicious)

I don’t think that price was wrong for an adams family though was it ? it was probably cheap judging by the prices it sells of on the pinball forums.

Probably, but that ad was a scam and was removed pretty quickly

Not sure if it's a bargain, but Wonderswan Crystal consoles don't come up on Adverts terribly often, here's one boxed with four games, all boxed, looking for €199, possibly some haggling to be done but a nice, amazing little device.

Few SNK games going for dirt cheap on GOG.com.

    https://www.gog.com/promo/20171005_special_promo_snk_action_pack.

Contains Metal Slug (1, 2, 3 and X), Shock Troopers (1 & 2), Blazing Star and Ironclad. 1.29 each or 11.61 for the lot.

Some magazine seller on ebay seems to be selling the Retro Gamer special for retail, worth a shot:

I already have one Micom Soft stick for my PC Engine, I'd be greedy buying it for myself.
Someone else should buy it though, it's an essential controller if you own a PC Engine.
Be aware you'll need an adaptor if you "only" have a Turbo Grafx 16.

Could have sold on my other one...

Yeah I regretted not buying it the moment I saw it was sold :(

For any Syndicate Wars fans out there, the spiritual successor, Satellite Reign, is currently part of Humble Bundle.

It's part of the cheapest tier, so you can pick it up (along with three other games) for $1.

Why would you do that? Some charge too much of course but I wouldn't be a fan of ad spoiling like that. If you're buying something like that you should be doing your homework on it anyway so most of those sellers shouldn't sell anything. Finding something cheaper elsewhere would mean about 80% of video game related ads there open to it if it was the normal practice, even if it's just €5 of a difference etc. Some take the piss of course but I'm not sure ad spoiling is the way to go.
