because he is a whingy begrudger with a negative attitude to just about everything!

I was on the train recently with my girlfriend ...it was nice but nothing spectacular .... but then I wasn't expecting Disneyland .... it's a local volunteer run thing so well done to all involved!

    give it a go!

Ignore him. Nearly every thread I see him posting in he is bashing something Waterford related. In this forum it's the WSVR and Tramore, he got banned twice for trolling in the Waterford City forum, and in the GAA forum he's had a few gos at the Waterford hurlers.

w s v r must be doing something right as the number of passengers are way up on last year despite the recession.
they have extended the run from 40 minutes to 50.
they now go through a tunnel under the new by-pass up to the toll booths for the new bridge.

Thats because people wont travel for Local Bands . Fact and in Tramore we need people from Waterford to travel out .

We are looking at Sunday sessions and will go Local eventualy but need to put it on the map first . Avalon would be the best crowd puller for a Saturday night .Still some super bands in Waterford and we will fit them in along the way

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,126 ✭✭✭Psychedelic

Yeah all the local bands are playing in Waterford City every night of the week anyway so why would anyone from town come out to Tramore to see them.

And to be honest even though I live in Tramore I wouldn't be bothered going to The Venue to see most of the local bands.

Karma Parking are an original reggae/rock/funk fusion band based in the republic of Ireland. With a singer from France and a drummer from Zimbabwe, Karma Parking are a melting pot of cultures and influences, the result of which is a distinctive sound, unbound to any one genre. Though they all profess a diverse range of influences, each member brings his own musical penchant to the band.

    Solar Taxi

"She Dies With Beautiful Teeth" - the new EP from Solar Taxi sounds like a band that have landed on their feet. From the catchy opening electro pop of "The Fool" to the soulful acoustic "White Lights" , this diverse EP takes the listener on a journey that's very different to anything that's in Ireland at the moment. Their influences range from Goldfrapp, The Knife to 70's guitar bands such as Led Zeppelin. Lyrically the material takes on some heavier subject matter too, "the process & resolve of grief is something that's running through the EP, even the artwork, our personal experiences the last two years have really made us want to make these songs count"

    Fighting Spiders

Fighting Spiders were hatched in early '08 when members from previous band such as ilya k, Dae kim, and Ashley Sheehan & The Mute decided to collaborate. Conceived originally as a studio experiment, it wasn't long before the band decided to take their results to the stage. Early gigs took place along side the likes of Jape, Robotnik and Oppenheimer. Due to the instant positive feedback it gave the band all the ammo and information they needed to complete the infectious debut.

    Campain LK

The project 'Campaign' began back in 2008 in Limerick City when producer Soss, guitarist and drummer Davey Hatchet, rapper Weenz and guitarist and singer Brian O'Brian started writing music and recording together. Brian and Dave had been in a rock band together 10 years previous and were old friends. Soss had been producing beats for Weenz for around the same period, and the fusion of the group's contrasting backgrounds quickly produced some very interesting results.

    Chimpanbee

Having finished a successful mini tour between Cork and Dublin promoting their taster single "Sixties Man", Chimpanbee have now settled back into Ruby Studios to resume recording their Album "Can't Stop or Rewind". The successful release of their single "Sixties Man" has already propelled this young, tag-teaming foursome swiftly into the limelight, earning them such acholades as "Club traffiks hot tip for 2011".

    Trouser Snake

Trousersnake is a backlash against the bland, cookie-cutter alt-rock scene of the modern day; pumping vintage, thuggish sleaze rock back into the polluted airwaves. Since their conception in August 2008, the 'Snake have shared the stage with hard rock veterans such as original axe-grinder of Whitesnake, Bernie Marsden, as well as Pat McManus of the Mama's Boys, not to mention renowned contemporary acts including Jaded Sun and Stillroom.

    The Great Ocean Divide

The Great Ocean Divide will perfom at the Tra Fest Music Festival. Just three guys with lots of spare time on their hands making noise. More info soon!

    Kooda Kid

Kooda Kid will perfom at the Tra Fest Music Festival. More info soon

Lismore will host G -Day (Gaeilge Day) on Wednesday, September 7 when TG4 cameras roll into town to capture a cupla focal being spoken on the streets.

Lismore has qualified for ‘The G Team’ TG4’s new 10 part series where non-Gaeltacht communities compete against each other for the opportunity to call themselves G-Team champions 2011

Lismore is preparing to go head to head with twelve towns across the country in a challenge to win the title of Ireland’s top Irish speaking town in a brand new competition being hosted and filmed by TG4.

The G-Team challenges competitors to begin using their native tongue in their daily routines. Can the local butcher sell the Sunday roast in Irish? Can parents learn enough of the language to read their kids a bedtime story?

A carnival atmosphere will greet the camera crew with a host of free entertainment on offer throughout the day. Lismore Farmers Market will set up in Castle Avenue, there will be art, archery and science in the park with music, busking and dancing in the roads as Fred and Adele Astaire return to Lismore courtesy of local ballroom dancers.

    Samhraidh (of summer)
    Summer arrives in Tramore

‘Samhraidh (of summer)’ is a collection of artwork by four artists based in the South East which runs for the month of June at the Tramore Coastguard Cultural Centre

Summer is a time freedom of spirit and fullness of being. Each artist references memories in their practice, drawing on personal experiences that are unique yet somehow familiar and accessible.

Niall Bracken studied at NCAD and Dun Loaghaire IT, and is an established portrait painter. His current work veers towards abstract - catching the fleeting, changing patterns in nature. Niall moved to Waterford in 1998.

Kathleen Delaney has a BA in Fine Art and an MA in Arts & Heritage Management. This recent body of work combines both areas of study as she derives inspiration from a series of photographs taken at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Milia Tsaoussis-Maddock spent her childhood summers exploring the Mediterranean shoreline. Her latest work is inspired by Waterford’s rocky coast. Colour, forms and rhythm convey movement and mystery. Milia attended art academies in New York and Philadelphia.

Chris O’Brien Shanahan’s latest work explores colour and pattern in natural landscapes. The imagery is imbued with themes of renewal and decay. Chris holds an MA in Art & Heritage Management and N. Dip in Fine Art.

The exhibition will be opened by Kilkenny artist Paul Mosse on Saturday 2nd June, with music by ambient producer miXile.

The artists will be available to talk about their work at weekends and by appointment for groups during the week - contact the Centre at 051 391656.

‘Samhraidh’ runs from June 2nd to 27th, admission is free.

Opening hours: 10.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 12am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Contact exhibition curator, Chris, at 086 819 7378 or email chris@cobsart.com.
