Seimitsu are my favourite now. There is definitely a difference between them and Sanwa. A small difference apparently, but I personally just like how easily they snap in (better than my Sanwa buttons for some reason) and the actual feel of them when you're mashing buttons.

I've not had trouble with Akihabarashop before, but I agree, their website sucks butt. I learned a lesson with SAL shipping though that's for sure.

Guess what turned up today? Those bloody spades. :mad:

Still, the 56-01's are going to a good home, I'll just wait for my 56's to arrive now. Looking forward to your thoughts on the 58's, I nearly got them instead but the longer throw put me off.

Yeah I'm curious as to how the 58's will feel. Tbh I'll never be a master shmupper since I'll never have the proper time to invest in these games, so my thinking is that the 58's might make my casual playing a bit better/easier. I do play non-shmups on the cab so if they're rubbish for other games then I'll prob just install them on the player 1 side and use player 2 for normal games (billy no mates :pac:). Although it only takes a couple of mins to replace a stick.

Neither will many of us, myself included. Like yourself though, I'm a casual gamer. However there's a lot to be said for improving your game with the right tools. Anyone ever got stuff from Giz10p.co.uk?

I've ordered a few AMP UP pin connectors(65) but the order's been processing for hours. I just had a look and they do say you have to order an equal amount of AMP Up connectors for the amount of pins ordered.

Surely that cant be right!

Ordered a power supply from them ages ago and it arrived fine etc. Just had a look at the description on those pins - yeah that sounds very strange. Nobody is ever going to order 1 connector per pin.

Maybe fire him an email if you haven't already.

Just got my order cancelled and an email from Craig.

Sorry but we have had to cancel you order, as stated on the web store pins for the AMP UP connectors can only be ordered in equal quantities to connectors, I.E. 2x 12 pin connectors would equal a maximum order of of 24 pins.

Sorry but due to the problems restocking the pins for these connectors this is the only way we can supply them.

Scratch what I said, that's just plain weird. Maybe try Neo Legend? Pins there bit more expensive but at least you can order them however you want.

The delivery from Neo Legend is to expensive for just a handful of connector pins.
I'll have a look around and see what I can find online.

Bit of a money making scheme from Giz10p though, I thought they were supposed to be good.
Oh well

Said feck it an ordered one connector for every 12 pins I need.
I suppose its always handy to have spares for my spares that also have spares.

Got the new Egret 3 control panel installed this evening.

Went from this:

To this (all new buttons but the same sticks):

It's the first time I've taken the panel off and the dirt under it was nasty.

Quick clean and happy days.

Can anyone tell me what these black things are for exactly, I assume some sort of cable tidy system but I'm not 100 percent sure.

You can see how I've installed the 2 hidden buttons in this pic.
Far left is wired to the Jpac and set as "Escape" at the moment and the far right is wired to the Guide/Home button on the hacked Xbox 360 pads.
(I know I can use the shift keys on the Jpac and I do but the buttons there purely for handiness sake and having the 360 Guide button on the cpanel is damn handy)

Anyone know what kind of button this is(the white one)?
It's got a zippy microswitch on it and the only markings on the button says "xou3h". I think it's a Happ button but not sure so maybe someone here might use them and be able to confirm.
If you know the exact model of button that's a bonus.

Also looking to track down what type of joystick this is.
It might just be a generic stick as I dont see any real branding on it.

Yeah, I think you're right.
Can you have a look at your buttons and see if they have "xou3h" on them anywhere.

Fairly fast delivery and packed well.

Nothing exciting in it, just AMP UP pins and connectors.

I thought that button was a leaf button but it doesn't have the surround on it.

In LS-56 news, arcadeshop.de finally shipped my goodies. Hopefully I'll have them before next weekend.

Has anyone here got a Suzo 500 stick? I'm toying with getting one and LS-32 modding it.

Yeah, I don't think I could actually play that.
It's tack level is just to high.

My candy cab kind of fits in to the house I live in without looking to out of place. This think would need to be stored in a shed away from the eyes of most humans

Those buttons are cheap-o Chinese Zippy buttons.
They are design-based on iL/Happ buttons, but use different (crap) microswitches.

The joystick is a generic JLF knock-off; you could get away with replacing the microswitches with either Cherry or Japanese MS-O-3R switches.

Leaf switches are NOT microswitches, they operate on a different principles.

The Suzo 500 (also known as Eurostick, Multiway Joystick) is a highly-regarded shmup stick, but it's quite large and ugly.
I've recently heard of a custom joystick called the "Virtstick" which is apparently the best shmup stick ever.

So I think I'll get some better quality real arcade buttons and micro switches and it will be a nice little upgrade to the iCade.
I suppose for the price they weren't going to be sticking the best components in there.

I've heard those Virtstick joysticks are supposed to be nice all right(not my cup of tea but I'm sure Pyongyang would love them). virtvic makes them over on AO if anyone wants one.

Thanks KO Kiki. Yeah the Virtstick is completely custom. I've been talking to the guy that makes them but he's stopped doing them for now.

I'm keen on a Suzo 500, just for variety.

As for that cab, it looks like the Fresh Prince threw up on it. Get a Viewlix!

I checked my buttons there anyway, my two white one and two player ones have suzo happ on them all the blue ones have iL on them, no sign of any numbers or anything.

Came home to this abomination earlier.

Candy Cabs are NOT for decorating. They are a decoration themselves and require no extra shiny bits.
I love Christmas and decorations and all but you don't touch a dudes candy.

And to make matters worse its all held up with the cheapest stickiest tape I've ever seen. Loads of gunk left on the plastic :mad:

I got the replacement chassis installed on my cab yesterday.
I'm having a few issues with it but I'm trying to work them out over on AO.

Hope I don't have to go back to the old chassis as the screen on the cab looks really really nice now with this different chassis(apart from the one remaining issue of it popping in and out of focus).

When it is in focus and running at 15hz its now a thing of beauty and I've rarely seen such a nice picture on an arcade monitor.

Regarding the flickering, have you tried reducing the Vertical Size via the pot inside your cp? Maybe not the cause of the problem but it's worth a try nonetheless. You can get picture flickering/jumping if the image is too big vertically.

Yeah maybe unlikely if the problem is defo caused by the chassis change but only takes 2 seconds to check. I know I got picture flickering/jumping once when I had tweaked the picture height for 360 testing and forgot to tweak it back down a notch for HS.

I got an email this morning from that aki crowd with a picture of my 58's saying they'll be wth me very soon yet they neglected to say when it shipped. It was in response to me saying a Paypal claim was incoming. :rolleyes:

No idea man, maybe it was the luck of the draw and they just cocked up my order. I'm guessing they're normally ok or folk would have bad mouthed them. Maybe same as arcadeshop.de, I've never had a problem with them yet you did with your sticks. Hopefully they get here before Chrimbo though.

Here are the chaps with the SS plates. Not sure how the coloured shafts and dust covers will look on the cp, then again I'm probably not bothered as long as they improve the shmup experience.

Cheers dude. My 58-01s arrived this morning surprisingly enough. Thing is, the throw feels identical to some spare 32-01s I have, when I look at the PCB I can see it says LS-3 but the rest is hidden under a part that sits on top of it. I'm guessing the PCB might be common among some of the LS range and probably doesn't impact the feel of the stick but just curious what your PCB reads. Supposedly the 58-01 uses the same base as your 56-01 but with a softer spring. But the throw feels no different to a 32-01. Will try and install one later and see does it feel different when mounted (... :pac:).

That's very interesting to know re the 58-01. I knew from the product description it used a softer spring though if you are saying it's like an LS-32 in regards to the throw I'd probably not get along with it.

I'd be keen to see a video of the 58's next to the 32's. I can definitely confirm the 56's have a throw that's tighter than a nun's fanny though. CathalDublin got my 56-01's off of me, I'd be keen to see what he thinks of the throw on them.

I got mine in B & Q, they usually have few sheets, around 25e a pop.
usually they dont label it as perspex, ask for polyacrylic.

Just been playing Night Raid on my G-Net PCB in the Astro.......................................................................which now has an entirely new CP plate, overlay, carriage bolts, twelve new buttons in astro pink and astro green, two brand new astro yellow start buttons, brand new coin slot and best of all, TWO SEIMITSU LS-56 STICKS!!!!!!

I kid ye not, if you hear on the news overnight that a river in North County Dublin burst it banks, that river was my ball sack and the bank that burst was my VAS DEFERENS DUMPING OCEANS OF TROUSER CUSTARD IN TO THE LIFFEY!

These sticks are without a doubt the best I've ever used. They. Are. S T U N N I N G!

However, bad news Greek Mother, I started making a video and the battery died on my DSLR, the battery in my Zi8 was also dead so I was done for. At which point I just went ahead and fit the lot in.

I will do a comparison in future though, promise!

Here's the CP looking sexually explicit. Fully kitted out, looks like a brand new CP... that's because it is, even the CP plate.

Consider my trumpet well and truly blown. Pun intended. :pac:
