Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone using clonmel waste for bins that can advise on their charges?

Looking for info on the standing charge and also what weights are included in this and finally what th per kilo charge if the bin is over the limit!!

    Thanks for any info!!

It depends on where you live I’d say. As far as I know, we still just pay a set amount for the year. I think some of their trucks don’t have the facility to weigh the bins, but maybe that’s changed more recently

what is happening on the bypass, a new lane? but it will still bottleneck at the roundabout. i don't think therre is room for a new lane. Big delay when we drove it last week

No new lane - the whole thing is just being resurfaced

Its being resurfaced from the roundabout on the cahir side of Woodies to the Moangarrif roundabout.I think the work will go on until the end of March 2020

I thought maybe they might make another roundabout at the Heywood Road.
It's still dangerous and some drivers coming down from Abbott still insist on turning right across the traffic even though right turns are forbidden at that junction entering from the north.

Wouldn't have thought that speeding up traffic was the object of the exercise.

That's a fairly staggered junction would a roundabout be feasible? You wouldn't have people chancing their arm turning right there if the the cashel road roundabout wasn't such a disaster from 4 till 6 which hopefully the road works will help resolve.

When those roadworks hit the road between the cashel and Fethard roundabouts all hell will break lose in terms of traffic at peak times.

I think all hell has already broken loose.

I take your point about the junction. It was staggered when the bypass was built to avoid the danger of traffic going straight across.

The bypass is some joke the last few days. Totally unnecessary disruption at what should be a busy time for traders in & around the town.

Just heard they are postponing roadworks on the bypass until Christmas is over - what took them so long to work that one out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,299 ✭✭✭F34

Who ever is in charge of the works would want to check out the work already completed before letting them recommence. The new surface doesn't seem to be anywhere near as good as the old one. It's "bumpy" and there is a section on it heading towards Cahir that seems unfinished and has loose stones on it.

The first stretch of "new" road starting from the cahir road roundabout to just before the turn off to the heywood road is poor enough, theres already a sizable divot at one part of the road and is bumpy throughout. That being said the new parts down near powerstown and tesco are nice and smooth, all in all not good enough however.

Amazed me to see them working on the road in the dark with only the lights of their work vehicles.

Just seen a sign outside the old Subway for Coco Grill. Work still being carried out in there. Anyone know what it is? Can't find anything online.

Amber service station on the Waterford road has got the go ahead from An Bord Pleanala to redevelop the site. The new filling station will be a great development for the area.

Any ideas what it will look like? Would it be something like the petrol station in Cahir by the BMW centre,if so it will have massive potential.

Planning reference number on Tipperary county council planning page is 19600023. That will show drawings of the new development.

Succes of this venture wiil depend on the professionalism of the tenant or the owner. There is great scope here, as the two other petrol stations on the strip would appear to be landlocked. Very few decent facilities on the N24, its a great opportunity, hope it lives up to expectations.

Anybody know what's developing in in the field beside Mr. Price? It has been cleared of vegetation so that the soil is exposed and there's a big pile of tarmac at the far end.

Think the company that are resurfacing the bypass are using the site to store their materials and machinery.

Hi gang. I’m looking for some one that cleans gutters. I googled of course but most are showing up in Cork/Waterford. Any one know and recommend anyone local to Clonmel? Thanks and Happy Christmas :)

I notice that the "newly resurfaced" section of bypass between the Cahir and Cashel road roundabouts is already breaking up,apart from being also unacceptably bumpy. I'd considered it might be a temporary surface but I see road markings and cats eyes installed.

Can anyone tell me what's the story with the Bookmarket bookshop, is it closed? or does it just open part time?

It really is shocking, did they get the cheapest crowd in to do it?

Clonmel, Cahir, Tipp, Carrick all have rail stations.

The Line, Lmk Junction - Waterford still only has two trains each way a day at ridiculous times.

When will Irish Rail provide the county with a half decent rail service that people will actually want to use, commute etc?

It seems like a serious missed opportunity. They don't even run on Sundays. Previous large sporting events haven't even had trains put on for them..

I'd say they'd only love to close it. I thought it was doomed when they closed the Waterford to Rosslare section of the line. Not running on Sunday is a huge missed opportunity considering the busloads of students that go back to cork and Limerick. I have a daughter in college and she much prefers coming home on the train on Friday evenings but it's a nuiscance when there's no train back on a Sunday. If you want to go away for a weekend you can't get the train back on a Sunday, some joke when you might not want to drive after being out Saturday night.

She closed early Tuesday as the town was quiet but its open 6 days a week - not on sundays.

Oh, and happy new year to you too!

I called up there on Monday 23rd at 9am and it was closed so I checked online and saw it opened at 10 so had a nice slow breakfast in the cafe across from there and waited until about 10:20 but still no joy.

I wanted two books that are stocked there and some vouchers as gifts but no luck
    Had to go to Easons.:(

    Breakfast was top class though:)
