    Promo Title:
    Aiming High & Supersmashingbrilliant
    Artists:
    Willy Baxter / H3lx
    Style:
    Electro/Techno/House
    Release Date:
    2007.06.29

Track previews available at the link below:
    =>SDBR01 Preview<=
The Willy Baxter EP is excellent. Both mixes are awesome.
    Aruba Productions

Willy Baxter - Aiming High (Original Mix) - Nice laidback romantic electro track
Willy Baxter - Aiming High (Asciinoid Mix) - Great remix... great for breakdancing - very good

    Mark O'Sullivan (DK7)

This is a great start dude! Like the vibe of both releases... especially like the Willy Baxter original and his remix of H3lx too, hes a find! You can hear the label's related to SeedyR too in a way sound-wise, but on a different tip for sure, looking forward to hearing what comes next :)
    Damien Hughes (Queep Organic House)

Thanks for the promo, nice start for the new label, really like the Aiming High Original mix, nice stuff, and will be playing for sure
    Leigh Morgan (Urbantorque)

Willy Baxter 'Aiming High' (Original Mix) -
Some great sounds in this. He uses the space in the track so well. Crisp and clear production. Lovely tune, Franseco Farfa would love this.
Willy Baxter 'Aiming High' (Asciinoid Mix) - Great play on the original samples here. Like the simple drum line, clipped vocals and the reverbed snare. Again, the break is great. I'd definately play this.
H3lx 'SuperSmashingBrilliant' (Willy Baxter) - This mix is fantastic. Reminds me of Kavinsky. Love the almost stuttered bassline. The discrete organ is lovely and it breaks great.

    Paul Prior (Collective Music)

Thanks for sending this through... It's the Willy Baxter Original Mix for us... quality electronic business for a variety of floors.
    Alan O'Hare (Mode Music)

The original version of Aiming High opens the EP in style. If you missed it before, you can listen to it over on Willy's Myspace page. It's followed by an excellent remix from Liam himself, under his Asciinoid moniker. He up's the pace, making the track a little heavier whilst retaining the lovely melodies from the original.
H3lx heads up the second half of the EP with his track Supersmashingbrilliant. It's quite a hard electro-house track, a little heavy for my tastes if I'm honest. Willy Baxter concentrates on the melody rather than the beat in his remix though, creating a much lighter and funkier version of the track - including his usual beautiful synth work.

    Gavin (Twentyfourhours)

    sdbr01.jpg
    Willy Baxter - Aiming High
The first release by this talented Finnish artist, Aiming High is a downbeat synthpop track with a lazy disco drumbeat that almost trips over itself. Soft chiming rhythms accompany a warm bassline and smooth synths that repeat over themselves in a gently out-of kilter melody, providing a loose summery feel to the track. The Asciinoid remix is a more dancefloor-orientated house number, with vocal stabs echoing the bouncing bassline throughout yet retaining the feel of the original.

    sdbr02.jpg
    H3lx - Supersmashingbrilliant
H3lx's first release on seedyburnR, Supersmashingbrilliant is a thundering monster of a track, with searing leads soaring above the dark growling bassline. Big synths and rhythm sections keep it powering ahead, while keeping a sense of melody running through the track.
Willy Baxter's remix takes it into a much gentler place, lowering the tempo, stripping back the darker elements and replacing it with a multitude of moogs and keys that wander around the original without ever blatantly copying it, another great mix for the summer.

    FEEDBACK
"Love the corrugated tunnel mix on this. ace."
    Ben Watt (Buzzin Fly Records)

"Nice one both mixes will definitely play"

    Mark O'Sullivan & Corrugated Tunnel
Dubatmos (Ork) Aside from his DK7 collaboration with Jesper Dahlback, Mark O'Sullivan is making a name on his own, and this remix of his own track balances modern techno production techniques with jacking Chicago house. It's bettered by Corrugated Tunnel's version, which also makes the connection between the old and the new, featuring a deft combination of acidic rhythms and evocative, vaguely trancey hooks.

Glad you like the tune. Thanks for downloading it.

I've never heard of Jose Nunez. Part of the tune samples "Brazillian Love Affair" by George Duke.

    Take care.

    Hi all,

Just letting you know about the first 12” on new Irish imprint Mantrap Recordings, now on full release. Here is some of the feedback and info on Magnetize’s ‘Forced Vortex’ EP:

Dave Clarke - “Cool new EP, good luck with it”
Billy Nasty - “The EP sounds great fella, I'd love a vinyl copy”
The Advent - “The ones that stand out are Scorney and Overflux, nice electro cuts”
Stingray - “I played it Alta Ego in Islington and Madrid/Barcelona while in Spain 2 weeks ago! Good work professor!! Respect from the "D" ”
Dexorcist – “Will give it a caning next on new years!”
Scape One – “Original concepts throughout with some right evil noises.’Scorney' is my favourite, hard impactive electro beats for 2008! Thanks a lot”
Heuristic Audio - “Really good ep, especially like Overflux and Scorney is a wicked track. Nice one!”
Uprokk - “Great production man, loving it! I'll be putting it in my case for sure! Can't thank you enough”
Delinquent Dialect - "Really Dope!!! Love Wobbulator, heavy heavy tune and Scorney is sounding appropriately menacing... nice one”
214 – “Digging Overflux and Scorney...will definitely be playing those”
Kalif – “****ing hell man, that Overflux remix is the dog´s bollox!!!!!!! it´s ****ing wicked!!! Wobbulator is seriously good… Scorney is wicked as well”

DJ Mag review (January 2008) :
Sunil Sharpe’s label launches with a release that’ll appeal to the techno and electro camps. It’s not hard to understand why Dave Clarke has charted this EP: the galloping groove and tearing bass of ‘Wobbulator’ ticks the peak-time techno box and the underlying moodiness of the breaksy ‘Overflux’, acccompanied by a dense, hardcore-sampling Ed Devane remix, refutes the claim that there’s no proper electro. 4/5

    Samples can be heard here:
    A1.Wobbulator
    A2.Overflux
    B1.Overflux (Ed Devane remix)
    B2.Scorney

It can be bought at online shops including Boomkat, HTFR, Juno, Nuloop, Wordandsound and others; as well as in its home of homes at Spindizzy in Dublin.

Digitally it will be available in a month or so, more information on that soon.

The Black Dog - Radio Scarecrow

    cover_lowres.jpg

I got a loan of a promo copy of the new album from The Black Dog which is due for release around the 1st week of April. This is an amazing album and has definitely gone into my top albums ever list! Highly recommended.
DJ Magazine - Album Of The Month
The Black Dog - Radio Scarecrow - Soma

If any one UK outfit was responsible for taking the Detroitian templates and blending — rather than bastardising — their boundaries into something genuinely innovative, then that would be The Black Dog. Remaining as invigorating as ever, visionary early-’90s works like ‘Temple of Transparent Balls’ and ‘Spanners’ might have been tagged ‘intelligent techno’ but their cutting edges bled influences into d&b, ambient and electronica. Now a reshaped trio (Ed Handley and Andy Turner long departed to continue their Plaid project), original member Ken Downie and kindred underground spirits Martin and Richard Dust have spent three years labouring on this latest sonic masterpiece.

Beautifully crafted throughout, The Black Dog’s signature mosaic-perfect detailing and deeply complex imagery is at once at work on the uncurling ambient reflection ‘Train By The Autobahn’. Upping the pace, ‘Riphead V9’ is deep techno with enough layers to spend hours lost in, ‘UV Sine’ is a majestic string-laden soar whilst the ambient sci-fi dub dread of ‘Floods
V3.9’ and ‘Beep’ permeate the current techno/dubstep boundaries perfectly. But where ‘Radio Scarecrow’’s electronic frequencies truly charm the soul is on measured melodic tracks like ‘Digital Poacher’ and ‘Witches Ov’, where moments of genuine contemplative bliss emerge out of mournful beauty with an intensity not matched by anyone. Never has techno felt quite so human.
    Allan McGrath
    Mint track: ‘Witches Ov’
