Took the temperature chart from the GFS since the last run of the ECM only shows 2AM temperatures, GFS is a more accurate representation :D Looks like Saturday - Monday will be epic, with Sunday being the peak.

Another NW / N breeze tomorrow, freshest along the NW , N, NE and E coasts. Temperatures similar to today and mildest in the S. Low humidity and another cool night in store as cloud clears towards evening as Hp builds from the W.

Cloud looks to be an issue this week with areas experiencing mist and drizzle and later rain by weds according to the ECM.

The ECM 12Z showing more rain then being forecast for Weds with the passage of an upper Low, small possibility of thunder also ( more so the S ). Tricky forecasting I would imagine this week with troughs and weak fronts and temperature there to kick off convection at times with enough diurnal heating perhaps.

Totals for the next 7 days still look very low in the inland south and east in particular. Might be a totally dry week ahead for some again

Probably not this way, GFS always overestimates precip by a huge margin (to the dismay of those of us who are snow lovers, during winter :pac: )

Cooler interlude for now bringing fresher temperatures than of late but not long until we'll find ourselves in double 850hPa temperatures again by the weekend.

Best chance of a drop of rain this week Thurs evening into Fri according to the ICON and ECM . Not much for some but every drop counts in this dry spell.

The South on the edge of the HP over the Weekend. Hopefully cloud won't block too much sun further up the country over the weekend. Light rain / drizzle possible in Northern counties Sat night/ Sun morning. A weak dissipating front looks set to cross the country on Mon. Rainfall amounts low. Humid and muggy at times .

A noteworthy possible spell of rain for next Weds, which at present looks substantial, just at the edge of +120 hrs so a fair degree of uncertainty yet. A chance to get a decent fall of rain perhaps. Breezy along Atlantic Coasts.

Wednesday's rain band on the hi res models.

WRF-NMM barely has 1mm for most places.

    tempresult_pia5.gif

Arpege shows it relatively heavier (keep in mind, this is rain averaged over 6 hours) with a little "ripple" on the front pushing up from the south Wednesday night into early Thursday.

All depends on the track of the messy frontal system determining what rainfall totals we get Weds /Thurs. Potential there for decent amounts and ECM leading the way in that respect. The American models keeping the track further W. HARMONIE showing SW, S and W probably getting the most but not showing as much as the ECM I would think.

Much of the rain missing the country on Weds apart from what looks like a weak occluded front, Thurs looking like a better chance of rain with a trailing cold front moving slowly up over the country. LP moving closer leading in to spells of windy wet weather at times over the weekend.

We would be doing well in the Western half of the country if we got all that rain predicted by the ECM up to Sunday.

East and southeast still at a huge defecit, and almost every day on the ECM will be >20 degrees. 20mm over that period is less than 2mm a day and there has been a worrying trend whereby rainfall predictions have been consistently downgraded.

The UK faring much worse though, little or nothing in sight for England and parts of Wales:

ECM showing rain approaching the SW around 3.00 - 4.00AM Predicted to be just light as it moves across the Eastern half of the country. Some heavy falls showing up for the SW. Some convective possibility also embedded in the front possibly producing some locally heavy rain also as it advances inland.

American Models similar to the ICON. I think it will be more like a cross between the ECM and HIRLAM.

I think all the models underestimated the rainfall totals for today , ECM probably closest.

Tomorrow rain arriving on the W/ SW coasts early morning as light rain peters out in E . Heavy rain moving in from the S Fri evening and moving up over much of the country in the early hours of Sat and clearing the N mid morning. Good totals predicted.

Low pressure pushing up from the south tonight into tomorrow will bring temperatures back up for a time to the high teens and touching 20c. Cooler again on Monday as the 546 dam line makes its return after a one day break but not lasting for long.

System approaching Western coasts in the early hours, should be a decent fall of rain as the fronts move onshore ,mostly in the W and NW , less so in the SW . Less rain the further East. Showers throughout the day from the W. Getting windy along atlantic coasts with small craft warning at sea increasing force 6 to 7 and gusty, extending to all sea areas by tomorrow morning.
