See oil price has dropped a bit.

Brent oil is currently at about $45, that's still above the low of $37 we had last year, plus the € is weaker against the $ than this time last year.

So unless oil drops a lot more, and the €/$ situation sways more in our favor, we wont see last years prices anytime soon. :(

Oh ok. Was gonna hold off a bit to see if it would drop a bit more. But sounds like that probably won't happen.

personally, i'd hold off as long as i can.

looking at http://cheapestoil.ie/heating-oil-prices/Republic there might be 1 or 2¢ more to drop, (depending on where you are)

I've been watching prices too but I finally ordered with Topaz online as €20 cheaper than call Centre... I got 1000 litres of home heating kerosene for €519.

    decent price in fairness.

best I can do is 56 cent a litre (500 litres)

Whats the forecast for oil prices this winter.

i filled in april, and only used the boiler for hot water (45min every morn) so i still have plenty.

But would much prefer to top up by 500L if todays rates are the best they are gonna be all winter

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,405 ✭✭✭stooge

comparing to this time last year, oil prices (from topoil at least) are more or less comparable (e.g. ~15E in difference for 500L). January/February this year saw really low oil prices (<30USD) but I dont think the long term outlooks are predicting this. External drivers are currently keeping and pushing the price of a barrel of oil down. Its estimated that the current ~45USD per barrel price could be pushed to 40USD/barrel but whether this is completely realised in the price from suppliers is not guaranteed. In my view, 270E for 500L is fairly good value if you look at history over past 5/6 years.

    Hmmmm

Next opec meeting isn't till Nov 30th.

Their decision, will depend on Irans decisions on output.

And even if crude drops on foot of that, price changes won't be seen till Jan.

Pfff.. Might just order 500 in two weeks time, providing there is a good promo code available.

For anyone looking to also switch Electricity provider Top Oil are offering €100 (1 x €50 + 2 x €25) off your next 3 oil orders as well as 12% off standard electricity rates. Not sure how great a deal it is on electricity compared to other offers that are available, maybe check www.bonkers.ie to compare. Unfortunately can't avail of it as I am already with BGE.

    Thanks for that.

With the promo I am getting 900 litres for 53.7 per litre.

Is 53.7 (including vat) a good price per litre?

500 litres in Dublin is 290
50 litres in Laois is 293

Yet in Galway 500 litres is 305.

    So a tenner.

    Yeah, €10

But my fuel card gives me 4c off a litre, and that combined with finding the cheapest station... my saving would be less than a fiver

I paid 598 for 1,000 L kero last week, less 30 euro for having a loyalty card, having bought diesel 12 times from same seller.

    Jones Oil, Sligo.

    Paid 568 for 1000 L kero.

Its like a whore's knickers lately:). Up one day and down the next. Also prices vary from region to region. Heating oil is defo not following the pump prices, which have all come down in the last week.

Just a reminder to everyone to shop around before ordering. Previously Top Oil was one of the cheapest suppliers before the discount, but it appears that is no longer the case. Currently their price for 500 litres is 325 euro and with the Black Friday discount it's 310, but currently there are other supplies with regular prices of about 300 euros for 500 litres and in some cases even a bit less depending on your location.
