DEX | Announce Trailer | Nintendo Switch

    https://youtube.com/watch?v=Sp_8tbGHoUo
Explore, fight, talk and hack your way through a rich cyberpunk world in this 2D action-RPG!

Wanted dead by a mysterious and far-reaching organization, you will traverse the futuristic city of Harbor Prime and make unexpected allies on your quest to bring down the system! In this cyberpunk adventure inspired by Blade Runner and Neuromancer, you are free to choose your playstyle: will you be a silent assassin, a hacker, a diplomat or a straightforward gunfighter?

Designed as a throwback to earlier 2D platforming and action games combined with modern RPG elements, Dex offers real-time combat, a mature storyline and interactive dialogues.

Customize your character’s skills, equipment and even augmentations – implants which grant you superhuman abilities and open up new paths within the game’s open world.

A revolutionary hacking mechanic also lets you dive into Cyberspace: overcome viruses and intrusion countermeasures to deactivate turrets, overload devices, steal corporate data and cripple your enemies!

It releases on 24th July, it's €19.99 and is 6.2GB in size.

    And it's already apparently delayed.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,762 ✭✭✭Grumpypants

Sounds like it got hammered so they delayed it. To be honest when the trailer isn't even filling the full screen with the video clips it makes it look old.

It's going to be a janky mess, isn't it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,238 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

I find it very strange, I don't know if it's a publicity stunt. The PC version was apparently getting loads of shtick online, I thought it looked alright. But then, ya, it could look a lot better if they put the effort in. The Switch version though, that looks so much worse, it's really noticeable, especially when you put them side by side. I put a few comparisons on Discord yesterday.

It looks like Untitled Goose Game is probably getting a physical Switch release. It's been listed by Amazon Germany. It doesn't look a mistake, as Skybound Games are the publisher, it's priced at €35.99 and it's releasing on 22nd September. That's all rather definitive to be an error.

Crosscode is just out and looks pretty good and getting good reviews - very tempted....

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,238 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

I nearly bought the Limited Collector's Edition for Switch, when it was announced, it's €60, got to checkout and postage was another €10. And I stopped, and said to myself, do you really want to spend €70 on an Indie game you just found out about, that I think is €20 on Steam, probably cheaper in sales? Actually, just checked and it's 20% off there at the moment.

I think it looks fantastic. It was the €10 for postage really that stopped me. It's a very late port though, and it will likely end up at €10 or less in a Switch eShop sale sooner or later.

NintendoLife really are one of the worst sites around in my opinion. This is what constitutes as "news"? A minor detail about a game that was known about 4 days ago. And of course the file size isn't mentioned in the headline, that would negate the purpose of their clickbait. SMH.

Perhaps they are watching your Boards account and just reposting the news you put up on-thread?

I watched this a few days ago and meant to post it, I think it shows that the eShop is far from great and also what a lot of these developers are at when they put games on sale for a few cents.

The Nintendo Switch eShop is broken

    https://youtube.com/watch?v=vwBdGo23Zkc
The Nintendo Switch eShop is not the best to navigate. It could also benefit from some key features that every other digital app store has. But there's a larger problem that's allowing game publishers to GAME the system very easily...

I laughed out loud at one point in the video.

If you think that NintendoLife is a pointless site, stretch your brain and think how the rest of us feel about you posting in this thread about your opinion of NintendoLife being a pointless site :P

The Switch eStore is basically a worse version of the Steam store from a decade ago.

To be honest, while I understand Nintendife is simply regurgitating news reported elsewhere, the best thing is probably to ignore them.

Is there any good Nintendo sites ye recommend or even gaming sites in general?

  • Registered Users Posts: 55,458 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

I like Nintendo Life. It's like a news aggregator of all Nintendo News. Saves me browsing around multiple sites. :o

Yep it's Nintendolife and Nintendoeverything for me when it comes to aggregated Switch news.

Alternatively, just come to this very forum, and read the news as it happens!

Nintendoeverything, GoNintendo, NintendoSoup and a few others are good for current news.

If you, however, want it days old, poorly written articles, clickbait, biased reviews, "deals" that aren't deals but really there for them to earn commission, etc, then there is another poor site.

GoNintendo and IGN NVC are great for weekly podcasts.

So virtually every site apart from the one where you were a prolific poster for years, posting hundreds and hundreds of posts. The realisation the site wasn't for you must have been slow.

Still their loss is our gain eh?

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Exactly, who cares if they’re not the first to report a story, it’s a convenient site to get the news in one place. Always wondered why this particular thread exists since it’s pretty much an RSS feed of links to other sites and not much discussion.

I'm loath to tell people here what they post and how they post it, not my job.
    However...
It might be a little easier to read through it if those, posting news from a third party, posted simply a little more of their opinion of the news and a simple link instead of pasting the whole article here.
This is not an insult or a mod instruction, just a request from a fellow forum user.
Sometimes it's just a series of press releases and, to be honest, I'd rather hear opinions and peoples own parsing of the news than what some PR dept came up with.

+1 - it's nice to see what's coming out and is why I'm subbed to this thread in the first place, but the lack of any reviews or broad leanings of opinion on Game X makes it hard to know whether to care or not. Like, one of the games was a weird hentai adjacent RPG and I'm like uhhh ... Ok? What do I do with this information lol

RUMOR - SPANISH VOICE ACTORS FOR THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: BREATH OF THE WILD 2 SAY THEIR WORK IS DONE (UPDATE)
Could this one be coming sooner than expected?

There's still just no way I can see this coming out this year. Though I do think BOTW was finished long before it eventually released.
