Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I notice some pulses forming over Wicklow and heading due north

    http://met.ie/weathermaps/radar/WEB_radar_201002250445.gif

Snow heading south-north, only in this winter could that happen!

Meanwhile proper snow is falling here now!

    Trying to stick to cars..

Quick question WC,is the posting of Met Eireann images stopped?

Good your getting some action now

Sleety rain here right by Broadmeadow Estuary - doesnt feel cold enough to snow properly. Not sticking to anything other than a slight glisten on cars; barely discernable. I can hear dripping too which is REALLY frustrating! :P

We are managing to miss the decent chunks of precip here, the main chunk just slipped off to our northwest, hoping this new one will give the precip intensity needed.

It's already beginning to thaw around the edges. :( Still snowing, light though.

There's always hope :) Noticeable on windscreens now and cars but street is sopping wet.

Just heard the fog horns of what i assume is a ferry heading into Dublin Harbour

So calm out there and medium snow falling now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,780 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

I would say alot of the commutet belt is going to wake up to a decent fall of snow.

Inland off the east coast got a far fall of snow i would imagine.

Totally unknown to them right now!!

    Lucan covered in snow.
Roads appear to be ok though.
According to the radio, Navan and Ratoath got about 3 inches!

Snow just stopped now. Snow cover everywhere except roads and pavements.

Excellent call by WC, tip of the hat.

Good covering on cars and roofs this morning in D16 but otherwise extremely wet. Closer I got to City Centre the wetter it got. City Centre is more sleeting with rubbish wet roads. Forecast to clear as the morning goes on but a nice teaser.

There was about 2cm or so settled in Lucan this morning. What a nice surprise to wake up to.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,862 ✭✭✭flamegrill

Carlow had about 1.5cm on top of the cars this morning. The thaw had already started at 07:50 but it looked nice. Good call WC.

    Paul.

3cm of the lovely white stuff, thawing out incredibly fast, roads and paths now totally clear and the dreaded drip, drip, drip can now be heard.

    great call wc :)

This doesn't seem to have gone further north than Dublin, did it? I'm in D13 and I suspect that we may be on the north edge of the fall, considering the reports here and the small scattering that's stuck to the cars and grass outside. The roads are really wet still and there's nothing stuck to concrete that I can see.

    Nice little sprinkling in D18!

Are we due any more this morning or is that it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,354 ✭✭✭jprboy

What a call from WC ! (who is probably getting some well earned zzzzs now after the night vigil).

Couldn't believe it when I looked out the window at 7.00 am. We had approx 2.5 cm here (few miles south of Nenagh in North Tipp). This followed the 2 cm we got between 18.15 and 19.30 on Tuesday evening.

Be interesting to hear from others how far west and northwest this occurred.

    Well done again, WC !

Its amazing how often you guys on the East coast see snow. That must be your 6th or 7th this winter. We got snow here down here once this winter (though Cork airport bizzarely recorded it as their heaviest ever!) on 10 Jan but that was our first snow since Christmas day 2004! Before that, I don't recall any snow since 1991! That's two snow falls in 19 years! Its amazing you could have that difference in weather over the space of 150 miles on a small island

Hey Tinners, are you awake? How's the snow holding up around your area? I should be up that area later and it might be my only chance to see some this winter!
