Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I often rate love songs with how well they work in movie soundtracks, even if the song itself isn't necessarily about love.

With that in mind I nominate Nico - These Days as used in The Royal Tenenbaums.

Come to think of it, I'll also put forward Nick Drake - Fly from the same film. God I love that soundtrack!

The world was on fire but no one could save me but you,
It's strange what desire will make foolish people do.....

My head is suddenly full of love songs.

This one makes me think of the past. Can't listen to it without a lump in my throat.

Please see for me that if she's wearing her coat so warm, to keep her from the howling winds.

    This one is pretty real.

It's the way that you feel in my arms.
It's the glow you wear around you like a charm
It's the tender in your eyes that keeps me safe and warm, at night, from this life.

Cheesy one - Glory of Love, Peter Cetera.

Love is cheese. Love is a common emotion; as these view counts attest - the power of which still resonates to this day.

Oh lordy, this one stops me in my tracks, every single time. Simply beautiful :o
    Grace

Hard to listen to without the hairs standing up on the back of my neck, and tears in my eyes. An incredible song that was covered often, but without doubt best sung by Jim McCann.

I walked up the aisle on my wedding day to "Groovy Kind of Love" :o
The bridesmaids went ahead of me to "Only You" (Yazoo) :)

    I love this thread :o

Ok, one more vote here for each of the following:
The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,
    I'll Be Seeing You, and
    Angie.

All of those 3 make me very emotional indeed when I hear them. What's funny is that when I was 16, Angie, for example, had no impact. It started to have one a good while later. For some of them, you need that kind of experience behind you.

    Other than that,

Dance Me To The End Of Love by Leonard Cohen

I Want You by Bob Dylan

    Missing You by John Waite

I'm So Into You by Atlanta Rythm Section

Holding On To You by Terence Trent D'Arby

    Careless Whisper by George Michael

    Mad About You by Sting

(You Don't Know What It's Like) To Love Somebody by Bee Gees

A Case of You by Joni Mitchell

Till It Shines by Bob Seger

The Power Of Love by Frankie Goes To Hollywood

    So Emotional by Whitney Houston

Accidentally In Love by Counting Crows

A number of these are pure poetry...

I'll think of a few more tomorrow, I'm sure! :D

Just realised, heavily weighted towards men there, so for any foreign language speakers, there are some more womanly ones!

Donna Con Te by Anna Oxa

Eblouie Par La Nuit by Zaz

Ever Fallen In Love by Nouvelle Vague (yes, I know it's Buzzcocks originally, but I prefer the certain je-ne-sais-quoi that the French girls put into it!)

ETA: Yes!! Always On My Mind, how could I forget it?? It used to be a big deal in the teenage years, same as Take On Me and More Than Words... gaaah, so many great songs..!!
