Check out the sexy dude  in the boards.ie gear:

I'm wearing the boards gear at the moment as my club gear doesn't fit me currently (but I still wear it racing), I actually bought the helmet and glasses to match my club gear.

Over in the new lidl today (I realised I didn't have a wheel brace for the car last week), it was packed. They're doing a spend €50 and spin a wheel where you can win a 4 pack of chewits, Belgian chocolates, a key ring or €50 voucher for LIDL (there isn't a snowballs chance in hell of getting this one), also they have like a special reduced section with hands free for €10 which I bought, remote control cars for €25, a circular saw for sfa and a couple of other things. I'm pretty happy that LIDL have come over to this side of town.

I've already done a thread in the cycling forum, so I'm not going to start a new one here. I'm going cycling in France again this year for the Susie Long hospice fund but I'm going over Europes highest mountain pass the Col de l'Iseran and onto Montreux in Switzerland. The total distance will be 1,500kms done over 12 days. Again I'm going to catch a bit of the Tour de France and plan on doing one of the stage routes the day before the tour goes through (easy but long at 215km). Last year I raised €2,000 (€1,500 of that from boards users :)). If anyone would like to give I've set up a mycharity page or join the facebook group. All the links are in my signature (I'm aware a lot of ye turn signatures off).
    Thanks in advance.

Forgot to add: This is what our new jersey will look like for this season.

Nasty car crash outside Blackquarry petrol station this morning. 2 Ambulances, fire brigades and gardai. Looked like somebody pulled out and got hit, very badly damaged cars. I hope all are okay.

Does anyone know off the top of their head where there are public notice boards in Kilkenny i.e. somewhere I can put up an A4 notice with only needing minimal permission or none?

    Worlds end facebook page:

The World's End Bar - For sophisticated nights out with beautiful people

Rich in culture and ambience - for fine dining and suave company it has to be The World's End

The World's End (the name of the establishment in itself an Odyssean reference - the patrons are remarkably well grounded in the classics) is nestled in upper John Street Kilkenny in the town's lively cultural quarter, and has a delightful ambience which reflects the clientele to whom it caters; The upper echelons of the Kilkenny societal circuit rub shoulders with learned philosophers, scholars, wordsmiths and famous faces from the city enviorns as they bask in the opulence of the lilly-gilded surroundings and erudition and succinct wit of one other's company..

    Yes.

Embrace the zeitgeist of 21st century Marble City with suits from Baumler, Dax and Magee impeccably tailored to everyone's needs; For an unforgettable night on the marble tiles, The World's End suits you best.

Pop in for a spot of luncheon and a chat about the horses over a Pimms, or perhaps visit a little later on for Cognac and a Montecristo gran corona on the sun terrace, with Jazz standards as standard on piano and a certain elegance and je ne sais quoi which appeals to the most discerning socialite, The World's End is the glistening, yet strangely under-rated jewel in Kilkenny's recreational crown.

Lunchtime Specials at the The World's End!

Why not dispense with the boring old cucumber sandwiches this week and come dine in style instead? This week's casual lunchtime specials are:

Pan-fried goats milk wrapped around a grape
Breast-fed partridge in jus-a-minuté-quiz Sauce Soubise
    Escallop of half-baked inkling

Our new monthly lecture series starts Saturday- Former UN secretary general Kofi Annan will give a talk on the Theory of Oligarchical Collectivism. There will be Q & A and a selection of blended African teas will be served at the interval.

After the lecture, Mr. Annan will put his new gyro hip through its paces with a non-stop twenty minute display of cutting edge breakdancing.

Places are limited so book soon!

    :D

Such a shame nothing has happened to improve things at Lukes, its much worse these days. The day ward meant 11 beds were lost from a surgical ward, they closed the gynae ward meaning people who have miscarried or had ectopic pregnancies can end up on maternity wards next to new mums and babies, the Pre Discharge unit has closed which means 10s of people are waiting for long term care blocking beds.

Night after night the "day" ward is full of patients, some sleeping on trolleys all night (but its ok because they aren't in A and E counting towards the figures of trolley waits) leading to cancellation after cancellation of day cases. Over winter, pressures on beds are expected, but to be so far over capacity in the middle of spring is ridiculous, so not seeing exactly whats been put right (as a certain Dr said) since Susie Long died. Very sad.

am a returnee to this fine city...so tell me- "the worlds end" used to be "the perch" , right?

we are not talking about a certain other fine establishment which promises a very cozy ambience, known locally as the "bucket o'blood"?

Still on the topic of The Worlds End: in the kilkenny reporter this week, the ''pub of the week'' is the worlds end. Are they for real? do they honestly mean to send some poor unsuspecting person there?

Or else they've run out of pubs to put on it . . .:P
