Best tip for ya, make sure you set your wheel up according to devs recommendations, for each individual sim, makes a massive difference.
Oh and get cart extreme mod for GSCE, its amazing.

Spent bloody hours at it today, each one is so different. if you can point me to the relevant guidelines I'd be much appreciative. Have them all pretty good I reckon after much fluting around but would be nice to check up and see what the settings should be.

To top it off I spent a good few quid on cars and tracks for Raceroom too, addicted!:D

    I assumed you have a G25 or G27?
    Sorry if not mate.

No I've a T300 mate but it's ok. There is info on most of those threads for that wheel too.

Only slight annoyance is the lack of a preset for the t300 in assetto corsa. The d pad on my wheel doesn't work as result in assetto but does work in all the others.

Man is this game light on requirements!

Played for the first time the other day on a HD 5770, 2.33Ghz Core 2 Quad, 4GB of RAM,
and i'm getting between 30 and 55 fps on high settings depending on how many cars are near.

Thats insane for a modern racing game considering how ****ty my setup is!

The last couple of updates fixed a few major performance issues. I've a laptop with a 2.8ghz i7 and a 780m. It doesn't phase the gfx card at all but the processor gets hammered with everything maxed out.

I've noticed this with a few modern games where the processor seems to be the limiting factor with a gaming laptop.

New update and DLC out for Assetto Corsa. I haven't really had much time with the DLC, but the update is fantastic.

The track isn't one I know too well or was very excited about, it seems like a very technical track, I just haven't spent too much time on it other than to take the lotus 125 out for a few laps. Should provide some good races.

The countach is a surprisingly nice car to drive. I was expecting a wild beast based on what I'd heard but it's a very controllable car.

Haven't gotten around to much more of the content yet.

The tyre update has brought a new lease of life to the cars though, much more detail in the FFB, cars like the 458 feel much more alive and even it's traction control system feels improved to the point it feels more like an aid than something that's getting in the way.

I am loving the COuntach. My favourite car in the game is probably the McLaren F1 GTR, I love the lack of assists, its all down to me. Whenever I get a series of corners just perfect it feels amazing.

With this latest update its just blown Project CARS away in the handling stakes.

It had blown pcars away a long time ago, no comparison at all in terms of physics and handling.

Another patch is imminent, supposedly within a week. It will include the Audi R8 for free as far as I can tell. It will deal with multiplayer issues.

Dreampack 3 will be out afterwards, sometime in December. Will include laser scanned Brands Hatch, Lotus 25, Lotus 72 D, McLaren 650 GT3, Mercedes AMG GT3, 500 Abarth Assetto Corsa and Ford Escort Mk.1.

Before the end of the year there's more free content expected and announcement of a new license.

If twitter and the usual simracing forums is anything to go by this DLC is going down a storm.

The escort alone is worth the €8 their asking. It's the new sideways machine, it's so much fun to drive, especially at brands hatch. The two classic lotus F1 cars are also amazing. The 72D is a big surprise, one of the best F1 cars so far IMO. Didn't get too much time in the 25 but its unique. The engine sounds like something from the era.

Outside of that I just tried the new SLS GT3, it's a very easy car to drive consistently. Was able to just jump in and win the new challenge for that car. But all the GT3s are a bit like that. It's a good car for beginners to race I'd say. The AI were very well behaved. I only had them on medium so their lap times weren't great but it was a very clean race.

Tried the 1200hp Lambo for 1 or 2 laps of silverstone, it's mental. Try to accelerate out of corners and it just crap walks off the track spinning all four wheels.

All in all, a great DLC, the cars are fantastic and brands hatch is usual Kunos quality.

Anyone else here on can't stand that c*nt SLAP TRAIN on youtube?

Everytime one of his videos autoplay on youtube I feel like punching the screen, most annoying voice in the race sim scene!

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 14,689 Mod ✭✭✭✭Dcully

    Never heard of him.

Starting to get balls deep into AC lately and really enjoying it.

I do have some reservations about it though.

There seems to be very few people in public servers that use non DLC.

So many empty servers going unused.

Setting up your own server is a bit of a pain, it has the worst interface I've encountered in a pc game and it doesnt account for everything forcing you to change a lot of settings in a config file.

And as far as I can tell if you merely need to make a single change to the server, like a car or track, you need to restart it? Seriously?

The core game itself is great though, all it's missing is weather and night modes.

Many of the regular players would have bought all the DLC packs, they're discounted on release so they get snapped up.

There won't be night modes the engine can't handle more than one light source. They haven't totally discounted rain, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
