Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi Guys,
Sorry for the seeming intrusion on your board! Hopefully the fact that we’re giving away free music will go some way to make up for this semi-spam J
Trafik, Andrew Archer and John Elliott, signed to the world's foremost independent dance music label Global Underground, and recently been quoted as “The New Darlings of Dance” in Computer Music Magazine, are to release their new studio album this year. Their music has gained great plaudits from the likes of famous DJ’s such as Paul Oakenfold, Sasha, The Plump DJs and Deep Dish.
This latest album is nearing completion, and sees a return to the more eclectic feel of their first album ‘Bullet’, and according to the boys themselves it is "easily our best work yet." With the return of Rachel Lamb’s enchanting guest vocals and of course band member John Elliott, there are new vocalists added to the fold, Tricia Lee Kelshall, best known for her classic work on Way Out West 'Mindcircus’ and new girls recently discovered by Trafik themselves, Eliza Dawson and Jess Roberts; both of whom add a new soulful, powerful dimension to the band.
As a celebration of the completion of this new album Trafik will be giving away the majority of their infamous bootlegs over the coming weeks and all you have to do is join their Facebook group page:
    http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=122658660249&ref=mf#/group.php?gid=38518545777&ref=ts
Including music from The Killers, Goldfrapp, Franz Ferdinand, Adam Freeland and Kraftwerk these works have been highly sought after pieces of music over the last 5 years and now we’re giving them away for free. So join up and in little under a week will send you a link to the first track and then one every 3 days until we run out.
    Thanks for reading!

    Angie >:-)

They're cool man if you are that age.. plenty of time to perfect everything!

Is the 1st link to a Reason tune? Are you using Samples / Loops, or are you making your Beats / Synths / FX all yourself?

The FL stuff sounds a bit more "rounded". The Breaks etc.. sound spot on for that type of Music.. & you've got all the Donks down. It takes a while to get another Program sounding the exact way that you want.

Also.. If you are going to use Vocal samples, it'll sound tighter it they last the length of the break. You could maybe add a bit of delay to the last word as the track comes back in?

You've got a good idea of what sounds right together.. Definitely keep analysing other peoples tracks for ideas.

As an excercise.. Sketch out the structure of a track in bars with intro / breakdowns etc.. Write down what musical elements are in the different sections.. You'll definitely find it useful.

Definitely no harm in using Loops, or better still, bits of Loops.. But if you can start reproducing "Stock" sounds.. you'll definitely have a lot more contol over what you are doing.

It'll also add a bit of individuality too.

Upload more when you can Man. I love it when a plan comes together.. :)

Yeah.. Really like your stuff as well Man.

    Thats a good tune.

It almost sounds like its going to fall apart rhythmically at certain points. I like the way the hats come in at the start.. Introduces a whole new rhythm. Thats what I love about Dubstep.

You're probably well used to that change by now after listening to it 50million times :) - but its very interesting to listen to.

Know its the 1st draught.. but I'd stick in a few bit reverb/delay fx hits here & there to punctuate the rhythm.. but you'll probably end up doing that anyway.

Will look forward to it being finished.

Nah, all those tunes are made with FL, I use loops sometimes but im trying to not use them but make my own with hit hats, claps etc etc, if thats what you mean by stock sounds.. as for reason im still trying to figure it out as I cant find a tutorial on youtube thats clear enough,
    thanks for the help sound.

    How are things Man?

Just listening through the Laptop speakers..

I wouldnt call that Techno - Pop at all Mate. Its got more in common I think with something like Usher, Chris Brown, Ne-Yo or Flo Rida.

Its got that Southern / Crunk / Rap / R&B / Pop vibe.

Maybe send it to Ciara or Lil John :D

It seems to be missing a Rap.. a few Yeahhhhhh's or Heyyyyyyyy's here & there would be good! :)

Now, where do you begin to start looking for a Rapper?

    Hmmm..

Well worth getting one.. Makes life a lot easier. You can pick them up v.cheap as well.

Tune sounds grand.. Not my type of music - but I can appreciate what you are trying to do. :)

Did you DL a midi file of the lead pattern or did you key it in yourself?

Heard the original there on YT & its spot on.. Just wondering as a Trance friend of mine was always downloading Trance Tune Midi's & messing around to make his own tunes. Good to get an idea of course, but I always thought it was a bit of a con.

Are the Drums Loops or are you programming the patterns?

Yeah.. Liking the little breaks in Solstice.. Really drive it forward.

They're all cool Mate.. Really like that warm synth at the beginning of Midnight in Arcadia.

You've got a really nice Melodic Electro Vibe going on.

What are you using to make the tracks? Which DAW / Synths?

ICN, I am using ableton with reason. I mainly just use the synths that come with the software and possibly throw some effects on the synths etc.

    Cheers for your feedback ICN.

Cool.. You're geting good stuff out of them!

When I was making Electro stuff in Reason, back in my 2 Lone Swordsmen / Transparent Sound phase, I used to like sticking a NN19 on a Maelstrom & hitting random.

After messing with the pattern & altering the ADSR's & pitch, you could get some mental background rhythms happening.

Really liking that Man.. I adore BOC so its starting off well already.

Excellent - Love the 303 type thing that comes in.. and all the breaks - The beat when it comes in is perfect.

I like the rez-y sweepy pads in it.. Also reminds me a little of Autechre, Tri Repetae - which is always a great thing! :)

    Sounds really good Dave

Dirt Frequencies | Diarmaid O Meara & Luke Creed

Dirt frequencies is the first collaborative release from Diarmaid O Meara and Luke Creed on Gobsmacked records.

Bitchbags comes as the release A side, with its mash up of new age electronica and European techno with a minimal element that warps the track towards a sort of hypnotic intensity. Created for both the big room and small speaker sound, the intensity and originality of the track has been grabbing attention across the Europe for several months. The B side counter track, Niteflix, is a harder, more technotic and filthier sound, made more for the specialist techno acts and fans but still comes with a similar warped style that grabs the attention and lets the mind wander.

Available from almost all dance orientated digital download stores now!
    Or listen @ http://www,myspace.com/lukecreed or http://www.myspace.com/diarmaidomeara

Right, i know not that many people are not down with the Dubstep here but i can assure you this one has no offending LFO's.

I'm really pleased with this as it's very different to my previous Dubstep, softer, long build...lot's of interesting hits etc.

What i am not sure about is the mix, the levels of everything at every point in the song. If someone could give it a listen i would really appreciate it.

I love Dubstep. I think its a very difficult genre to get right. Conquering the LFO's is one thing.. but the beats are just as important as are the right use of sounds & pattern/section changes. Credit where credit is due - I certainly would not be qualified to make a DS track. Its music for people with ADD or ADHD. Its got to be constantly changing. You cant get away with repetitive beats! I'd be ****ed then :)

Thats the best track of yours that I have heard so far Dragan. The sounds in it are pretty much current & on the ball.

2 things though about the arrangement etc..

    1. I'd change that Bell sound that comes in for a section in the middle. To my ears it sounds too casio kboard. Maybe substitute it for a sample of a real bell - a real solemn Death Knell.. with some White noise wind fx adding dark atmospherics before it comes back in.

    2. There needs to be a few little build ups to drive it forward. Maybe have a stompin 4x4 beat for a bar, maybe w. a different hat pattern / without snare claps.. or 4x4 with an off beat clap. You'll probably need some kind of little fx to introduce the next section. A pitch riser would sound great over the 4x4 section.

Other that that - its really cool. Really like the synth sounds in the back.

& There are good gaps inbetween the beats to let the groove develop.

You really seem to have concentrated on one main idea in this tune.. which is great. I think it worked out well for you.

I really enjoyed this one. Its definitely your best track to date

    hi all

just discovered soundcloud through this thread - so I've uploaded a wee little piece of music I wrote a while back for a corporate video thing.

I s'pose it's a bit generic coz it was mainly meant to work as a pleasant accompaniment to a sped-up time-lapse style video. But I still listen to it from time to time and like it.

Have a listen - see what you think. (done in logic 7 for anyone who's interested.)

Listening now as I try to see if I can find a solution to Rockshamrovers Logic problems.. :D

EDIT - Yeah.. Thats good Music Man. Really like your stuff.

Like the mix between live instruments & the electronics. Is it Guitar & live drums somewhere in those 2 new tracks?

    Top Stuff.

Hey man, Brush Music is real interesting, i get it a similar vibe of it that i get off Lemon Jelley, that same happy go lucky buzz....the whole build is very good, nice and euphoric. The drums are sweet.

The breakdown at 2:00 is really nice...about the only thing i would change would be at about 3 minutes i would bring it all back, real HARD, big soundscape, lots of strings....really amp up that euphoria.

I can really see this going down a treat at a festival man. Lovely stuff.

On Influences, i love the drum man, lovely sound.

Looking forward to hearing more of your stuff.
