Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

There's a widespread issue throughout the country. You got an engaged tone on 1907 because most likely thousands of people are trying to contact the same number. How many technical support staff do you suppose vodafone or eir have working at any one time?

Do I hear the sound of a coin hitting the bottom of the cup?

still though long automated messages that tell you to use the internet when the internet connection is the problem are a bit irritating

a pre recorded message to the tune of there is a widespread internet outage etc, please bear with is until we sort the issue + estimated time to solve the issue would be less likely to enrage wouldn't you think?

roll that out instead of check our webpage with our non existent connection.......

Vodafone SIRO in Limerick - had outage but chnaged DNS to 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 and backup.

    Has no effect on vdsl
    Not working here

Will have to wait for the Voda tech staff to come back from the donut shop before it gets sorted

Packet loss on the VF network has been atrocious over the last 5-6 weeks. Hopefully they fix whatever is causing the issue soon

Follow this... Should get you going

Vodafone Gigabox. Log into the router, set it to Expert Mode. Under Internet / DNS tab....
    Set "Secure DNS" to "manually"
Enable "Configure the DNS for all devices"
    Use 8.8.8.8 for DNS Address
    Use 8.8.4.4 for secondary address
    Apply the changes

    Not here. Cork. FTTH

Remember to reboot devices once you change the dns, didn't work for me until I did that.

Also fyi if you need to for some reason change dns on an android device use 1dot1dot1dot1.cloudflare-dns.com or dns.google

Or alternatively try 1.1.1.1 for Primary DNS and 1.0.0.1 for Secodary. Maybe that might work...

    8.8.8.8 primary
    4.4.4.4 secondary

    working for me

didn't need to reboot router after changing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,675 ✭✭✭exaisle

The secondary should be 8.8.4.4 I think, but if the primary is working it won't matter.

For people reporting dns change working for them - what type of service and router is it?
Has anyone on vdsl with the hauwei hg659 router had success? Not working for me

I think its just completley random
there is someone who just posted there that it was still working for them up to 15 mins ago and now its dead yet some parts of the country started having issues about 1:30 today
Mine was still working up till 4:00

  • Registered Users Posts: 143 ✭✭fabo1thecross

Thanks for the advice folks. Be a while waiting on customer care to fix it. Do the dns settings need to be reset on the router at some stage.

Thanks wife’s phone and my own worked after doing this too. Although iPad didn’t need a reboot, just forgot and re-added the network

I think changing the dns does nothing to restore the service if it's SIRO.

I have SIRO, it's working fine after I changed DNS on the router (Expert Mode -> Internet -> DNS) - I didn't try on the local devices.

Don't know if it's a coincidence, but had the same issue on FTTH.
After changing the DNS settings, I went to "Status and Support" > "Reset Connections" and then reset the fibre connection.

After I did that I got an IP address, which had previousy been blank.
