Seems to be a routing issue as I can browse if i am connected to a VPN

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,579 ✭✭✭aare

Landline broadband down for about 10 minutes, 1907 gives "engaged" tone.
Oddly site token was out on anpost.com this morning, both are so weird they might be connected?

Yeah Vodafone dead in the water today
    Steadily getting worse every week
Speed slowing ping rates increasing and then the whole lot craps out

went from an average last year of 75mb down and 25 up
recent months 20mb down 3 up
No answer to complaints to vodafone in fact no reply at all to emails and twitter

Working from home at the moment so will be swapping over christmas while it is quiet

I have had enough of the rubbish service from Vodafone

DNS issue. Use 8.8.8.8 or / and 1.1.1.1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,675 ✭✭✭exaisle

It appears somebody unplugged it, left it for a minute or two and plugged it in again....working fine now.. ;-)

Tried setting 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 but nothing. Restarting the modem now, see if that helps

Restarted the modem, did a reset twice, still not working for me.

I think changing the dns does nothing to restore the service if it's SIRO.

FTTH here. DNS change and restart doing nothing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,675 ✭✭✭exaisle

It's definintely some sort of routing/dns problem.

I'm on a vpn connected via the UK and it seems to be fine.

You should still be able to log on to the modem
But if like me you are using usb tether from your phone for internet
You would need to disconnect the phone to connect to the router

And three.ie the worst of the lot is still working away. Poorly as usual but working.

It's down in North Galway too. And I can't even get a dial tone when I phone them on my mobile.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,675 ✭✭✭exaisle

No...eir is out too. According to:

    My Vodafone broadband died.
I rang 1907 and got an engaged tone.
    I can't ring them and I can't contact them
online because there's no online chat.
This is worse customer service than Eir.
    No one to even contact.

There's a widespread issue throughout the country. You got an engaged tone on 1907 because most likely thousands of people are trying to contact the same number. How many technical support staff do you suppose vodafone or eir have working at any one time?

Do I hear the sound of a coin hitting the bottom of the cup?

Why would a significant proportion of people be using broadband to watch RTÉ, it is broadcast to air?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 127 ✭✭Jlayay

5G down in Cork as well. Signed a year contract with them to avail of their 5g services with iPhone 12 and was tethering my iPad to it. Complete letdown so far should have waited for Eir or 3 at least they don’t seem to force you into a contract.

Is Vodafone not working for anybody else.

Follow this... Should get you going

Vodafone Gigabox. Log into the router, set it to Expert Mode. Under Internet / DNS tab....
    Set "Secure DNS" to "manually"
Enable "Configure the DNS for all devices"
    Use 8.8.8.8 for DNS Address
    Use 8.8.4.4 for secondary address
    Apply the changes

DNS change and restart on Gigabox didn’t work for me. I’m on FTTC.
