Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

On average 155 miles a year... How does somebody own a car for 12 years and drive it so little?

foreign owner of some property in the UK, probably London who has the asset for "If the caca hits the cooling device where I come from I'll have an expensive illiquid asset abroad that's hard to grab from me" reasons, who's rarely there who wanted a run-about car.

Unfortunately not, its a 2.0 gt - non turbo. It would be fairly pricey at £1450 I reckon.

Having been in the market for semi classic bmw recently, an auto wasn't even something I considered and I drive a auto as a daily. Lovely car but it needs to be a manual.

Don't post in this thread again.

I've deleted a tonne of posts rambling on about how you dislike BMW's. It really doesn't have a place in this thread.

that was in 'specialist cars' showroom afair , Jason mustn't have been able to shift it.

Probably much easier (and more profitable) to send one back to the UK sadly, especially now that there's VRT refunds on exports.

pardon the effrontery, is there any Audi equivalent of the oldcolonel ??

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

    nice one JBJ :D

not an Audi equivalent, but if you're after youngtimer Mercs, MTSV is worth a butchers.
Prices are on the high side, but these are pristine examples - mostly W124/W201s

    http://www.mtsv.co.uk/Showroom.htm

not too many on the books at the moment, but he has a "coming soon" section also.

I think it's too pricey, it's only an SE and I don't like that spoiler either. Personal opinion but I would prefer if it had a manual gearbox as well (although it not being a sport is much more of a deal breaker for me as they look much sharper in sport spec).

The only way it could justify that price is if it's had the VANOS seals, oil filter housing gasket, rocker cover gasket, cooling system and transmission fluid changed. Some of the suspension bits should have been changed as well - that aluminium suspension can be a bit fragile and parts are not cheap.

I think it's too pricey, it's only an SE.

I'd have no problem with an SE auto in an E39 525i.

If it was an E34 then the sweetspot would be a Manual 525i Sport all day long.

Clean E39's with good history becoming very rare, I can see this selling quickly.

My only concern with any UK car of this age would be rust on the underside, corroded brake lines and so on.

I got €4k for my E38 a few weeks ago, could have got more but i needed it gone. That E39 won't last long in the UK, although it's not my up of tea at all.

Yes it really was, i'm glad I put up that video of it while I had it, was nice to have it again for a few months. I had it parked in storage at work and looked at it about 20 times a day. Such a great looking car to just stand and stare at. The new owner is a detailer so couldn't have gone to a better buyer.
