Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

D15 here too - BTW , in case the other D15 members don't know already - we've begun setting up a D15 wireless LAN - should be good - large majority are either in the Castleknock area, or the delwood area.

D13 originally....Grangemore. Then moved to Ard na Greine, then to Meath(6 years), 2 year stint in Dundalk(college) then a few months in the States(J1), back to Meath for a few months, then D8 with me Girlfriend for nearly 3 years in Rialto and Kilmainham and now D15 in Tyrrelstown. Looks like there's a good few from D15 in here.

Well i was christened in foxrock church, lived in foxrock until i was seven, now skip forward a few years and i live in wicklow. So i can either pledge my allegiance to dublin or wicklow, so i guess i am a vague southsider.

Im from Tallaght, whic has managed to get its self the same social standing as the Towers in "Da mun" or ballyfermot

But the area I grew up in was that bad, Wasnt even a council area.

I live in Ringsend now, lovley place..

Anywho what im wondering is are there anyother southsiders that just get an uncomfortable feeling when crossing the liffy,
Lord knows I try to avoide it but the dublin shop in arnotts is there and croke park too to its a tough side of the city to avoide.
I wonder what it is that makes me feel less comfortable on henry st than grafton ??

Holy crap, I never realised how many d14/16'ers are festering on boards...

I too originate from this no-mans land. Born in D14, raised in D16, without moving house. They just shifted the borders to confuse us. Only two possible explanations for the proliferation of dundrum/balinteer/rathfarnham/insert_bland_suburb_here ppl here.

    1. There's something in the water.
    2. There's nothing in the water.

I've something to say to all those arguing which area is more riddled with scummery:

    You're all wusses.

    I live in Dolphin's Barn.

I can see Fatima Mansions from my doorstep.

    That is all.

Tallaght, Dublin 24. Lucky enough to be living in one of the nicer areas although I still have been the victim of one or two scumbags

What "nice" part of Tallaght you living in?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 74 ✭✭Syd_Vicious

Aylesbury. Of course we do have Cushlawn right down the road, the biggest skanger-hole this side of the Liffey!!! We had a war with Cushlawn apparently although I must have missed it. I think we won out though as the Cushlawn skangers are apparently afraid of us and don't come up to Aylesbury

d14 clonskeagh beside UCD so i live in student land!

as for the northsider=scumbag and south=posh thing is complete toss. The thing about the southside IMO is that not many places can be classed as completely rich or poor. People don't realise that there's a lot of variety in the people living in each area.
Take dundrum for example some ppl think it's a scumbag area others see it as being very posh. If you drive down dundrum road u will see council houses beside some really posh houses. rosemount/taney is a good example.

Contrast this the northside areas are generally seen as exclusively rich or poor e.g. balymun and howth

Probably because they're jealous. Are they from Finglas, by any chance?
