Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Very nice puding
    88714050001ob5.jpg

Thinking of doing something similar. Although I'm not too keen on the front end, never was a fan of grip-pods either:rolleyes:
However the stock and new grip look great, I tried looking for that stock before but couldn't find it too easily, any details on it?

These three are more along the lines of what I'd be aiming for, I especially like the stock on the last one, also no idea on its make or where to get it, my google skills just aren't up to scratch:(

A lot of my decisions about what was going on it where kinda made for me as i had choose to replicate the real steel as close as i could.

    eodcasvji1.jpg

Although i was hesitant at first about some of them, i;ve not come across anything that i have not liked in use, example for me would be the grip pod i hated this things i thought they where to large and impractical but they work are comfortable and practical and great case of substance over style.

The casv is rather more practical than i first thought, it has all the functionality of your normal m4a1 ris with the up side of adding stability to the gun and also allowing you to house a battery inside meaning you can use fancy stocks like the m93a without then need for external battery box which i hate with a passion.

The stock is a standard m93 copy from wgc converted to fit on a star m4a1, i have to say thought i was not very happy with the finish on the item, the materials it is made from seem to have been of lower quality than i;ve come across before parts of the stock where almost translucent in places and the colour is off. http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper.php?itm=MAGP-ACC-M93AOD_srch_magpul

I have 2 other stocks used by the eod on there m4s to try out and will post pics, i'm current putting together a blog/how to/log style thing as a way of keeping me on track which i hope to post when i finish.

liking the SPR robster., are the SPR grips not leftie friendly? damn, i wanted one of them and all.,

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 14,320 CMod ✭✭✭✭The Master

    Vtec,
The SPR grips are a big no no for lefties
you can see the thumb rest sticking out in this pic
makes it impossible for a southpaw to get a proper hold of it
    SPRGrip.jpg

Its dead simple to change it over to a standard grip

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

I got the G&G SPR a while back, I must get a look at yours someday and see where the difference is. The RAS seems totally different to mine.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 14,320 CMod ✭✭✭✭The Master

Theres 2 versions , the MOD 1 and MOD 0
I think you must have the MOD 1 version
Mine is the MOD 0 and has a shorter RAS

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

Yeah my RAS goes the from the delta ring all the way up to the end of the gas piston. How strange. I know there are two types in RS apart from MOD0/1, one is Knights Armament, the other is Stoner.

    Mk12 Mod 0 SPR

Basically an M16 refitted with different front end and cut for a different round.

Its a wee bit longer too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 62 ✭✭Tspoon

hmmmmm...I really like it...would it be hard to do?

SPRs are all semi auto correct?

You can buy an SPR off the shelf as it were, the rest is modification by adding rail guards, sights, different butt-stock etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,641 ✭✭✭zero19

There is a Dboys version for 190 on eirsoft i believe

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,261 ✭✭✭Puding

In my eyes best way to do it would be to start with a stock standard m16 add free floating ris, replace the stock tube to a m1a1 version so you can fit the ctr magpul stock and also add a magpul grip would give you the look, only issue would be the battery with that you have a number of option peq box, stock bag or sling bag.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Masada

the one in the above pic has a stock battery i think., looks like the postive wire at the join there.,

That's pretty much my SPR with a different stock. I like the solid stock on it though, with the battery loaded in it balances quite nicely.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,261 ✭✭✭Puding

to me its not really like the SPR, only thing the same would be the reciver

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

SPR reciever isn't the same as an M4/15/16 reciever. The RS is chambered for 7.62, not 5.56 so it's got a larger magwell. As such everything is slightly adapted to suit it. There's not a damn thing that's compatible on an SPR reciever with an M4/15/16 and it's a pain in the arse because of it.

The RAS on that one seems a bit shorter than standard, and the magwell is small so I'd say this is actually an M16 with some heavy make-up applied. Though there is a variant of the SPR that does have a similar looking shortened RAS and length of barrel protrusion.

It was being comparing to the spr so i was under the impression you where talking about the Mark 12 Mod 0/1 Special Purpose Rifle (SPR) as in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Navy_Mark_12_Mod_X_Special_Purpose_Rifle which would use the 5.56 round and there for be the same receiver family, but your clear talking about something like the G&G GR25 SPR which is modeled after the SR-25 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SR-25 which is indeed a 7.62 in real life.

  • Registered Users Posts: 398 ✭✭Ample Free ...?

Just looked up the original post on http://militaryphotos.net and as far as I can gather the battery would usually go on the sling and the wires would go from the end of the sling into the stock and from there to the receiver.
    NoMercy wrote:
The battery goes in a battery sling that connects to the DD sling mount and has a 11.1v 4000mah lipoly in the back

Im in the planning for a Lipoly that will fit in the front of the ras

This is the same thing, you can see where the battery goes and the wires leading into the front of the AEG.

Yeah that's a confusion I had when I was ordering it, I assumed it was the 5.56 Mk12Md0 version I was ordering. The SR25 SPR mags are a pain and the inability to use standard STANAGs is a bit of a drawback on it. Especially since I have so many lying here. It is an excellent unit though.

Hey vtec whats that MP7 like?
I like the idea of using it as a side arm with a drop leg holster.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

It's a little big to be using as a sidearm. I see a lot of people saying they use them as such but I couldn't see anyone firing accurately with it one handed. It's nice and compact and sure it isn't much bigger or heavier than, say, a MAC 10 but it's not balanced around the pistol grip like a MAC would be. You'd need both hands and maybe the stock extended to get the right use out of it.

It's a wicked little machine though.

True it wouldn't be as balanced as a MAC but at €85 its nicely priced.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

It is, but as a secondary. I really wouldn't advise it as a sidearm. I wouldn't even advise the Mac as a sidearm. If you want an auto sidearm get a Glock 18c. All the benefits of a full auto sub tucked into a pistol body. And only a couple of bucks more than that.

If you're out at HRTA on Saturday I'll bring my MP7 and you can have a gander at the size and feel of it.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Masada

I actually like it a lot, ive put a few rounds through it and its fine, it feels nice to hold and isnt really that heavy when compard to a GBB pistol., Im not sure what kind of FPS its putting out but its better than the G18c going by eye., I had planned to strip it and rebuild it after hearing of others with problems but it seems most are the galaxy version so im just gonna leave it as is for now and if anything happens ill strip it then.,
its a lot lighter than the MAC10/11s actually, im gonna get the little MAC too but id imagine this would be easier to use one handed than the mac being GBB and lade from heavier metal, its not gonna be a pistol though but it should be a very good CQB gun., I love the glock AEPs and this is just a bigger version of one of them. it uses a similar gearbox to the AEP and id say they'd chrono around 220-260ish mark., have to put a few miles on it though., :)
